Here we go. I compiled some of his reasons for a 6.5 to save you the clicks.

"Put simply, it relies on many antiquated gaming techniques and sees no reason to change them. The GTA formula has not changed since its PS2 days."

"While GTA V does fast travel as well, you still have to take the moment to either find a taxi or wait for one."

"No matter your driving skill in other games you’ll likely spend some time in GTA skidding and crashing all over the place."

"They hammer on a lot of the same tone of jokes as before and have only tweaked it to fit with modern issues such as corrupt corporations, social networking, and the like."

"Everyone, from the lead characters to faux celebrities and the government of GTA V all are treated horribly."

Pros:

+ Huge world rife for exploration
+ Copious possible amounts of playtime via side missions/collectibles/etc
+ Heists are an exciting new addition to the series

Cons:

- Jeez, did we always drive this much around expansive maps?
- Michael sees the most attention and even then only barely sees his character develop
- Instead of satire feeling exciting/fresh it feels aged - like something an older person trying to be “hip” would come up with

I disagree with a 6.5, considering most of his review was pointed at positives. These are the few negatives I found. Also, he compared this to a Ps4 title. Which we all know the ps360 aren't capable of coming close to.

overall im pretty dissapointed with the game, some of the blame falls on the old consoles....

The driving is terrible in the game, GTA4 and saints row 3-4 do it much better

The online should of launched with the game(only real thing I want to play)

the graphics graphics were improved from 4 but it seems to run worst, I would prefer steadier performance over looking pretty

and finally this is going to get some heat....I like violent and cursing and usually am an advocate but...GTA 5 is kinda over the top, when your playing trevor and you do a rampage...man does this game scream racism....which is cool and all but come on your going to walk up to some mexicans and start just shooting them all down.

This is the problem that I have with these fringe videogame "journalists". Most of us on this blog have probably beat the game by now, which begs the question: is this post even necessary?

There are some scenarios where and opinion is wrong. I don't think game reviews are one of those scenarios though. As long as the review has legit reasons, makes a good case, and isn't looking for hits.

Also, he said that the game was closer to a PS2 game than a PS4 game. What? It's not on PS4.

I actually read the review and feel the reviewer was fair with criticism, but I think the 6/10 is still kinda low.

I was skeptical as hell about GTA V and the game absolutely blew me away. But I enjoyed the review.

He didn't have fun with it....game should have scored lower. Ultimately, it's about the fun and from what I read of his review, the technical accomplishments don't out weigh the fact that he didn't enjoy the game.

Ermmmm... okay, but some of his reasons are stupid.

It sounds like he isn't very good at driving and rather than blame his ineptitude he would rather the blame the game. The driving clicked for me straight away and before long I was head on in traffic weaving through it with the pedal to the floor.

And i'm amazed that he criticises the series for not really evolving since the PS2 era when it has come on leaps and bounds from a mechanics standpoint (yet it still retains the fact that it is a GTA game).

I can't agree with him on the character development as a lot of it is something you find yourself doing as you roleplay the characters but it is very subjective from that point of view. It won't be to everyone's tastes.

And if you have a problem with navigating this beautifully crafted world, that is your issue, not the games. I never once got bored of being immersed in this beautiful world.

It is crafted by masters. I think some people who criticise it need to get some context as to how good it is. Go play Ride to Hell and then shut your mouths.

Leaps and bounds? No...it finally got back to San Andreas PS2 status after the enormous step back from gTA4.

Also, the driving in GTA has always been crap. Granted it's better in GTA5 than GTA4, merely being better than the ass that was GTA4 is nothing to cheer about.

Also, I'd hardly call comparing GTA5 to Ride to Hell "context"...

Well done on missing the point of me saying people should get context regarding games. I wasn't comparing Ride to Hell to GTA fool, I was saying that as gamers we should play something bad so when something monumental comes along we can appreciate more but you'll probably enjoy Ride to Hell more than GTA5 so maybe you'd better not play it.

If you smeared your own s*** on a canvas and displayed it next to The Mona Lisa you'd discover a new appreciation for how much of a work of art The Mona Lisa is.

How is that a hard concept to grasp?

I'm just sick of whingy little internet dwellers complaining about every tiny thing when it is clear the amount of effort that went into creating the top games for us.

Maybe by playing a game that is actually BAD they'd get some context as to how good the likes of GTA, Bioshock Infinite, and The Last of Us are rather than criticising the tiniest of flaws.

And if you don't get it this time then all hope is lost. And no, you are fool for not grasping the simplest of concepts. And really, you consider 'fool' namecalling, how old are you, i've been called far worse than that and reacted with far more grace.

This game's not a 6.5, but it's not a 10 either. I think somewhere in the middle, say, something like 7 or 8. It's definitely worth a play and it's fun to shoot people, however the game was overhyped and now everyone is up in arms if the game doesn't get a 10/10. So yeah, play it, it's a good game, but it's no GOTY, and it's definitely not a 10.
