Killer Instinct hands-on preview | Thunderbolt

Shane Ryan, Thunderbolt writes:
Killer Instinct is one of Xbox One’s launch titles, being released digitally and in various packaged tiers. It resurrects Rare’s ‘90s fighting game series and aims to achieve a harmony between both old and new with equal vigour, a notion not uncommon with many videogames at this year’s Eurogamer Expo.

Good to see this review. More and more I am interested in this game. Love the re-imagining of the characters and environments. The dynamic music effects also add to the game.

There is nothing "paltry" about this game.

You might want to look up on microsoft's charity and good-will work microsoft does regarding education, student affairs, and donations before making such an accusation.

sometimes its better to leave them in their ignorance.

Killer Instinct looks pretty great, I'm surprised this is a game coming from Double Helix - but in response to your comment, how else would you describe a corporation that hides fundamentally free features behind a yearly paywall and aims to take industry-wide control of your ownership status and manipulate their way into your pockets, with webs of lies and deceit? A company that has charged you for more than a decade to connect via P2P.

Is it another Robin Hood situation because they have branches that deal with charity and education? I wish all departments in Microsoft could be as reasonable. I truly do.

Cannot wait, everything about this game is shaping up to be awesome! :)

November 22 will be here before we know it. I'm ecstatic

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion143d ago (Edited 143d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH147d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.

Killer Instinct: Worth Another Look at 10 Years Old

A free-to-play fighting game? This was unheard of at the time, but Killer Instinct has proven it's not only doable, but enjoyable!
