People Not Impressed About Battlefield 4 Running on Xbox One

During this year’s previous gaming events, some speculations were made on whether or not Xbox One games were actually running on Microsoft’s next generation console.

That being said, people who are attending this year’s Eurogamer exposition have confirmed that Battlefield 4 is actually running on MS’ Xbox One… and that they’re not really impressed.

but for me its deeper than that...I bought a nice HDTV in 2009...and its now all but confirmed that neither new console will natively support its specs across the board...

its fine and great that people scream and shout 'i'll take more polys and this and that over 1080 res at 60 fps'...and good for them...but for me, its given me very little interest in either console...this full HD stuff was promised in 2006...STILL not having a unanimous minimum res and framerate on full retail games...simply isn't working for my own money...

Last time I heard about it running on PS4, it was 8v8 and everyone was hating on it.

not saying that's a bad thing. I find with Battlefield games in particular that a lot of work gets done in the months/weeks/days leading up to release. Dice really likes to hold out until crunch time to do all the refinement. Their Beta test periods are usually atrocious.

I have it in good faith that the game will run splendidly on both consoles.

I honestly can tell you that I've heard many good things about the PS4 version, and like I said the only complaint is that it's not as good as the PC version but very close to it. we both remember certain bits of information because we only read those bits of info (you clearly didn't read about the TGS demos, apparently it was awesomeaballs) so you need to chill with your caps-on rage and jumping off bridge exaggeration.

One of things that Dice tends to do is Max out PC and leaving everything else in the dust. They even said they PC will always be better and they made compromises on next gen hardware.

That's now how you develop games. Its apparent EA wants the money so EA made Dice do console versions while the REAL gaming experiences is on PC like always. Despite stronger hardware coming to the market.

As long as the game runs well and looks decent on console, console owners won't complain right?

People was unimpressed with the PS4 version when it was first shown also so this is nothing new. When you're comparing a $4000 PC version of the game running on ultra settings to a $500 or $400 console version running mostly and medium to high settings on a PC you'll always be disappointed. I see both versions being a big step up from the 360/PS3 version and I'm very happy about that.

A game with a smaller scale will be better at showing us what next gen can do.

It doesn't look good. The frame rate is the only large difference. It is smooth but the controls are clunky the resolution is too low, small things like pixelated grass obviously popped up as you walked towards them (from like 75 feet). This game is NOT an impressive example of next-Gen AT ALL.

Tested BF4 for EA (believe me or not)

Game left me underwhelmed.
played with 360 controllers on Alienwares.
Graphics I saw were underwhelming on every aspect.
Building destruction is the same no matter what

Great thing is for every 10 hr session I only leveled up about 2-3 times.
The 64 player matches will change what you expect from a console shooter.
And the weather is more dynamic to combat then the "levolution"

Im not an Xbone fan. I have a PS4 preordered with BF4 though.. and I have to say. Im disappointed. Both consoles have sufficient ram to have far better textures.
Between AMD/DICE 2yr dev time on Mantle, Dice working on Star Wars, Mirrors Edge and BF4 on pc,PS3,PS4,X360,X1... they spread themselves too thin and this game is a shit port.. Im sad to say :( BF Vet here.

Unlike a mouse, aiming with a gamepad requires skill, not to mention offers better immersion.

I remember playing an hour of Crysis 3 with a mouse (because I couldn't be bothered getting my 360 controller from my xbox downstairs), then I switched.

Much better!

There is hardly any skill involved with aiming with a mouse. It's almost effortless and like playing a game on easy. Once you get skilled up with a gamepad, you can get about 80% accuracy of a mouse.

I would rather lose 20% accuracy for better immersion and more satisfaction when getting headshots.

Looks good to me all I care about is solid frame rate and 32 v 32 multiplayer.only 10 percent of PC gamers will have a rig that can play bf4 on ultra or high settings.

i'm willing to bet that both xbone, and PS4 versions look identical, which obviously won't look as good as the PC version.

But, it's pretty pathetic that a brand new console can't do 1080p and 60fps. It can't even do 64 players at it's already reduced resolution.

This system is supposed to last a whole 7-8 years? Games are only going to get larger, more complex, and more graphically demanding.

With 4K just around the corner that's pretty pathetic.

Microsoft should just delay the Xbox One, or make a more powerful developers edition.

What they really should do is to release the Xbox One OS for free so people can build their own custom Xbox One. Sony should do so with their PS4 too, because if you can't lock in 1080p then there is no way in hell your device will stay relevant in five years.

In 5 years my iPad will be able to do BF 4 in 1080p at 60 fps. Which may very well be so because the console industry is poised for a sea change.

As long as new gen consoles versions perform and look better than x360 and ps3 with no tearing and dropping frames i'm happy. STOP BLOODY COMPARING WITH PC versions which were shown off to promote BF4. We all know those were shown on top of the line components. WHY would you showcase a car with minimum specs like 200hp when there is a super sport version which is 400hp ?

The console fanboys will keep swinging at each other like this gen when in the end none of them had any significant advantage over the other games wise. One had BD the other had better integrated online system, yet BD wasn't needed for anything which 3rd party couldn't fit on 2 dvds.

So coming gen will be cloud power vs 8GB DDR5 at the end it's all about quality of games, 3rd part / 1st part exclusives. Few grass blades missing here and there few frame drops wont matter as long as the games i giving you and outlet to block out the real world problems and immerse you in virtual world.

10 fans of one console will not sway buying preference of 10 fans of other console by coming on N4G and claiming theirs is superior console.

Most 360 friends are going for X1 and i'll be again going for it. Have friends/achievements and 5months of live gold still and games i loved playing this gen gears/forza/halo etc.

I played it yesterday, very very smooth, but the Graphics were a let down tbh, Resolution seemed quite low, Lots of pop-in, some of the textures flashed occasionally (Probably just the build), oddly on a couple of the machines as i was queuing up i could see some screen tearing. TBF It looked even worse as you had to stand literally 1/2 a meter from the screen, my biggest concern was the complete lack of sensitivity in the controller, either that or am total crap at BF now.

I asked the EA Rep about the hardware he said it was a last minute swap for Xbox One and was all running on Dev kits, looking below the kiosks you could see the Xbox nesting on a rather large pc like monolith, but it was running on Xbox software as it booted from menus up etc etc.

Hard to say that is something to worry about. If it was another game sure, but the beta for bf3 on the 360 was horrible and that was right before release. The end result was way better than the beta. I almost cancelled my pre order because I didn't think they could fix all that was wrong, but they did.

Well from all BF4 footage running on the One or the PS4 has been unimpressive so far. Their hasn't video out yet for either console that has persuaded me to buy it, while its actually has done the opposite. I will definitely stay away from this one.

You know PS3 managed far more 32+ player games than 360. Many were very stable. PS backend and features are weaker than XB Live but don't make uninformed statements , when you clearly don't know what you are saying. BF4 looked weak on XB1

Most of the next gen games looked a bit average. BF on XB1 looked weak. Very current gen. Assassins on PS4 was glitchy as well and the swimming fx look PS3. Forza does not look amazing either. That and Driveclub looked similar in quality.
Killzone is best looking console game at Expo and Octodad was most fun I had.

You don't need 4 grand to make a computer. You can build a monster for half of that. The Video Card and Processor will be the only thing that costs the most money. It's that exact thinking that make people shy away from computer gaming.

They think you need to spend 10 grand and upgrade every 3 freaking months. People can't get past the initial cost of PC, and but take the slow buttstroke session of console gaming. And to be honest with you, both consoles are impressive, but I think the Reapers from Mass Effect hit this website. WOW, after reading all of these comments it is really upsetting to me. Why are so many people so down right rude and mean when it comes to system specs. Look very simply put PS4-XBOX1-Wii U. In terms of power. All systems will be able to put out nice looking games. Why the pissing match? Any Xbox1 fan who thinks it has more power than PS4 is a dilutional fanboy. I am a big Battlefield fan and will be picking up BF4 on launch but I will admit the textures I have seen so far are a bit bland, I am not "Impressed" with them in any way, Could I live with it? Ya.

I play on PC, and when I go watch a video of someone playing BF3 on the 360, the textures look bland, as if the graphics are not all the way rendered yet. But that is just how it looks on the 360.

When I look at these videos of the game they have put out it looks the same as far as the lower res textures.

If that is PC game play with full graphics, something is wrong, if that is Xbox One gameplay, Well I expected something closer to PC graphics. I honestly do not see much of an increase at all if any in the graphics quality between the 360 and the videos they have been showing off.

Sure, they added in some cool environmental aspects like way better weather, more destruction and ocean dynamics. maybe this was only possible on the new console, but I do not see any leap in Graphics quality in this game like I was expecting. The ground and buildings just look like they are unfinished.
But like I said, this sucks but I will still be picking this one up because it is fun.

played it twice at Eurogamer,from the very quick go u have its hard to get a good impression of what's to come. OK 1st thing, I'm a PS man so Xbox controller felt alien,that aside visually very very nice,very smooth frame rate,crisp visuals and the sound was absolutely stunning.. looking forward for full game with a proper controller in my hand. had to go home and scrub meself in the shower crying in the corner from the Xbox controller. felt used and abused...
