The Oculus Rift by Oculus VR has been causing a stir in the gaming world, and its appearance at Eurogamer Expo 2013 has been no different. So far, the Oculus Rift has been visiting the Cons and Expos with a variety of games; from EVE to Hawken, but at EGX they decided to show off their capabilities in the upcoming MMOFPS, War Thunder.
One of the biggest events in pretty much every gamer’s calendar is the yearly Eurogamer Expo. Once again it has blown us out of the water with the sheer scale and beauty that only the Eurogamer team seem to be able to provide us all.
Neil Hickton and Andy Buick chat with Matt Parker and Mike Smith about the things that impressed us, the massive games that wowed us and those not so little things, queues, as well as everything in-between.
In this Episode the team talk about:
Eurogamer Expo 2013
Queuing The show floor
Indie Arcade
Rezzed Area
AAA games
Developer sessions
Favourite games of the show
In this hands on preview, Dave lets us know whether the most anticipated game of 2014, Titanfall, is really worth all the hype.
Titanfall is coming up fast on the preorders too. Almost past knack with 20 weeks to go. Imagine if it was available a over a year ago for preorder like Destiny has been.
About 5 months until Titanfall. I hope the day one games will stop me from thinking about Titanfall.
Leet reviews this year's Eurogamer Expo and explains how to deal with queue-jumpers
its all down to 2 things the support it gets and the price.
Not a Gimmick, it is the future.
I will take this as the future of gaming over Kinect 2.0 or PlayStation Camera any day.
it just needs to be implemented on a system level so that it isnt any extra work for game developers.
The main reason i think the Oculus Rift will do much better than gimmicky motion controls is that this requires no extra effort from the player, but adds greatly to the immersion. It is the perfect way to advance gaming.
Its a lot less of a Gimmick than 3D is. At least with Occulus rift people like me can use it but I cant see 3d. I've tried shutter glasses 3D and that other 3D with polarised glasses and didn't see 3D at all. It looksed like normal TV to my eyes. I will buy the Rift headset for sure. I cant see it dying off as fast as 3D.
Depends. Oculus Rift should get some more support, if it isn't just a gimmick.
Tried out at Pax and I was conquered!
