Yesterday I had the impression that Pennelo was trying to get more attention to the X1 using the Ps4.

I am not surprised by this comment. One thing I do not get is why anyone would do this? Having two systems on just to play one game is a little bit illogical. Unless you are desperate to save a HDMI port (TVs tend to have a few anyway) I expect no-one to do this.

Ehh, you should expect PS4 to have its own Skype app that, like the Bone, will be able to be used in-game. The Linux OS upon which PS4 is built is highly optimized for mutlitasking.

Honestly I wouldn't be inclined to use any of the consoles as a HDMI In.

The longer you have your console on, the more life you are losing. Why would you want more wear and tear on your console when you are using another console or just watching TV.

I've always tried to minimize the time my PS3 and 360 is on.

Supposedly, the Xbox One's large size is because it was meant to be an always-on console for 10 years. So, unless Microsoft pulls another 180, if that's true, leaving it on shouldn't be a problem.

PS4 has a low-power sleeplike mode that will let you keep it "on" indefinitely. And software-wise, Linux derivatives rarely ever need a reboot.

Sleeplike mode is different, because it will run the console on low profile settings, but keeping a console on is different. You are using Cpu/gpu/ram in good proportions compared to sleep mode.

a lot of people dont know it but putting a console in a entertainment cabinet wit ha closed back and such is one of the worst things you can do. the heat just builds and builds up will the entire space is hot and then it starts getting even hotter in the console and if it doesnt mess up it certainly shortens lifespan

I was going to mention HDMI pass though lag on the other article but decided to pass. I have a STB that has HDMI pass though and I thought I could plug my PS3 though it but there was about a half second of lag on every action. It's the same with video recording/streaming, which is why you need a splitter.

Playing PS4 through Xbox One is kinda like buying an XBox One just so you can watch cable TV on your TV through it. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

who is honestly going to buy both and well spend over $1000 to game in in sub-1080p with pretty much current gen visuals and then pay another $1000 for 8 years to play the damn things online and then buy $65 games that will cost you over $6500 if you only buy 50 games for each system (that's about a game every other month for each system)

so, the average gamer is looking at $8500 over the next 8 years for owning each system than cannot even play BF4 in anything above low-medium settings in sub-1080p

and then when the ps4 and xbox1 both stop working in 4 years (because they will, launch consoles SUCK) you will have to buy them all over again just to justify the library of overpriced $65 games you have purchased. So add another $600 (price drops) and your sitting at $9100 for a far inferior gaming experience.

and the launch lineups suck, Ryse....lol...really....a boring QTE fest, knack....a game for toddlers, killzone SF, a generic space pew-pew, some stupid driving games, a bunch of free to play stuff that I have been playing on pc for the last two years, killer instinct that looks worse than last gen street fighter 4

and then a bunch of pc games downported to the systems that will run like crap, have jaggies and cost more than the pc version which will be 1080p, 1200p, 1440p, 1600p, 4k etc....

I think I will be waiting at least 1 year, more likely two and then pick which ONE to buy, but I am certainly not paying over $250 for either of them, maybe on a black Friday sale or something.

The HDMI IN/OUT on the XBone is not a simple pass-through, otherwise the PS4 output signal would just pass-through the XBone unaltered. The XBone processes the HDMI input to have the cable TV box functions which are a large part of the XBone console's overall function. The remark tends to indicate the HDMI signal quality going through the XBone is degraded by the processing the XBone does on it. The easy way to deal with this problem is just get a PS4 and forget about the XBone.
