EG:PlayStation 4 will launch in Japan after it launches in the West due to a lack of Japan-orientated games available this November, Sony has said.
From Gematsu: "Masayasu Ito will resign as representative director and deputy president of Sony Interactive Entertainment on October 1, and current director and deputy president Lin Tao will replace Ito, the company announced.
Kiichiro Urata, the head of Japan Asia partner development and relations for Sony Interactive Entertainment, will also be appointed company director."
Should hear the people there, wonder if the mentally ill here is gonna blame a certain someone with conspiracy
Sony is getting further and further away from doing anything right. I fear that after I play God of War Ragnarok my PS5 will be collecting dust. Lin Tao and Kiichiro Urata are both terrible for these positions. They should have learned some lessons this year, especially considering that Phil Spencer is taking Xbox all the way to the top. Even sales of the PS5 are weak in Japan. Pathetic.
So Ito will be transferred to Sony's electric vehicle division? That's a hell of a transition from Interactive Entertainment. I wish Ito well.
Sony Interactive Entertainment's Nishino, Morisawa and Itou discuss the PS5 UI, design and hardware in this interview.
Bring back themes I need to make my home screen my own + I bought loads of themes on ps4 I would like to bring to ps5 as I own them just like with the games.
Sony executives talk about 1440p resolution support and potential VR solutions.
Playstation consoles since day one are already awesome, but one thing imo that only Playstation consoles do is it gets even better over time, so adding some features like this one is pretty much a sure a thing. ;)
They want to focus on TVs, “I hope that PS5 will have a VR experience suitable for the PS5." No plans on a browser.
It's a maybe on 1440p. They had a VR controller patent last September.
“ First of all, we hear from Ito-san that there is no technical issue preventing the console from supporting 1440p resolution, with Nishino-san adding that Sony wanted to give top priority to supporting TVs [over monitors].”
Well then, can definitely see them adding this later. I remember PS3 launching with no in-game messaging and PS4 without a YouTube app. Such is the history of launch years.
I love how Sony likes to tell people what they want or need. No excuse for not having 1440p available at launch since, as he said, no technical limitation. There are a lot of games that play xbox/pc on monitors with 1440p resolution, in fact, most people don't have a 4k TV yet. I do, does not affect me, but typical Sony bs.
I got the answer. No nead to explain. To try and win back the west where all the money is made.
Its obvious why, PS4 will sell out in Japan no matter when its released so they can focus on trying to gain other markets.
I think it makes sense to concentrate in the West first because it was the only region MS still dominates. Sony is market console leader in Europe and Japan, so they want to take the fight to MS first, it's a good move.
Japan will be rewarded for their patience I already know it. I hope everyone is happy with their PS4. ^~^
The irony is that the PS4 is releasing throughout Asia in December... and that means, any whiny Japanese gamers can just cross the border into South Korea and get a unit, or import one if they can't wait an extra 4 months.
Why is this such a big deal?
