Examiner: "Bethesda Softworks thinks that it will take at least six years to hit the maximum optimization of the Xbox One and PS4 after they release. But today, in an exclusive interview with Game On, Techland COO Pawel Zawodny commented with his thoughts on the matter."
Dying Light 2 developer Techland talks about the "secret formula" to their games' success, and comments on how they see live service games.
Dying Light 2 was horrible. I played it at launch and it was a buggy and broken piece of shit. I didn't enjoy the game's locale either. They've released a ton of patches and updates for it though, and I'm somewhat keen to give it another chance. But the game left a horrible impression on me, especially seeing as how the first one was my favourite game last gen.
Pawel writes: "Today I am happy to announce the partnership with Tencent who are in the process of becoming Techland's majority shareholder."
"We will retain full ownership of our IPs, maintain creative freedom, and continue to operate the way we believe is right. I'm also going to continue serving as the studio’s CEO."
Unless it angers China and Winnie the Poop. Then I'm out of a job and we'll be fu...Ahem. Anyways. Please clap and be excited!
Thank you!
o( _ _ )o All Hail our Megacorp Overlord! Hail Hydra!!
New open world fantasy action rpg is going well apparently. Been watching some Dying Light 2 endgame as well. We’ll see how it all turns out.
Dead island 2 is a better game than dying light 2. So whatever you do please make more fun games
More consolidation... Not good.
I really hope that the main "asset" with a company like tech land is it's people, and if you jerk around the people, they'll leave and make great games for someone else, maybe start something new.
Maybe tools like unreal will lower the barriers to entry to make this easier?
Dunno, trying to be optimistic that this, too, will pass.
Ultimately if they can't make good games, the investment will fail and the good people will move on.. I hope
Techland has finally revealed a preview of its unannounced AAA fantasy open world action-RPG.
Keep using the C-Engine.
Just update it with more higher-quality assets and effects.
What is it with companies making fantasy RPGs? There’s 3 or 4 new ones announced every day at this point. It’s the same stuff over and over again.
Ok this is really interesting.
It looks like there might be 3 studios working on AAA fantasy open world action RPG's.
Bethesda (ESVI)
Obsidian (Avowed)
and now Techland.
As a fan of the genre generally, this is really cool.
Maybe it's what they originally had planned for Hellraid before it became what it did in Dying Light.
Looking at Techland's previous work, I hope its a mix of Dying Light and Pure Farming Simulator 2018!
Well, I guess that's the point of having an x86 architecture. Now what worries me is that publishers will tap out the systems in 3-5 years and say: 'We can't make innovative games, due to limitations. Rich of RTU has this concern too, but it's really just an excuse for publishers to put out the same crap over and over again. Obviously not all, but some.
I definitely don't think this gen is gonna last 10 years, I'd say 5-7. I've never seen a piece of hardware that hasn't been replaced or updated in 10 years. That being said, the consoles won't be on max optimization for at least 3 years. PS4 especially.
im excited to see what they roll out on ps4 in late 2014 (tech wise) imagine a terminator 2 game developed by naughty dog, using frostbite 3.
Looks like the Xbone has already been maxed out in comparison to the PS4 unless that is the CLOUD can float to the rescue!
xbone looks like its tapped out already, killer instinct 720p, ryse 900p, Dead Rising 3 has a dynamic resolution, the only game hitting 1080p is forza, its looking like it really was meant to a tv box
