looking better and better..

P0werVR3866d ago

Yes sir!

I feel this is going to be the generation where gaming is going to "comeback".

From my opinion, this gen was kinda of missing something. Which is why I was mostly on steam(PC).

But boy Deep Down looks AWSOME!

pixelsword3866d ago

We're all gamers, just with different tastes.

Just like a Cubs fan or a Lions fan.

:)

NatureOfLogic3866d ago

I have to agree with the guys below. This is not impressive at all. Looks like a PS3 game. You could even argue that Demon's Souls looks better than this.

Maddens Raiders3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

Looking fantastic. More than ever, Sony seems hellbent on having the best looking games on its machine this gen. Can not wait.

NatureOfLogic3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

I'm looking forward to playing this and I hope It's fun, but I'm disappointed with these visuals. Hopefully the final game will look so much better.

WarThunder3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

These pics are blurry and small doesn't show of much of the game's details

These ones are also blurry... but the game looks great! The lighting is spot on! This game has the best fire effect ever seen in a game

BallsEye3866d ago

@WarThunder

This looks low res (the jaggies) and extremely blurry (look the textures)...Im sure the game will be great but wtf guys are you completely blind? amazing real time gameplay from Ryse for example get bitched for "last gen graphics" and this gets praised? Woah...

NewMonday3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

people need to keep it real with this game, as far as graphics it is not setting standards, it is just OK for the next gen first wave, but this should be a game with solid gameplay and that is what matters most

FamilyGuy3866d ago

You guys can debate the low res picture quality and even the textures but the fire is undeniable. The dragon also looks good even in the pre-tgs game play.

Just one more day to see more in depth information and hopefully direct feed game play in HD.

ajkula3866d ago

@1.1.5 it's playstation exclusive, wont release on video tape...

MWong3866d ago

@ WarThunder
Those pics remind me of Dragon's Dogma. If CapComgave this game DD's combat system and a longer storyline, Deep Down will be amazing.

So far Deep Down is shaping up to be a beautiful experience on the PS4. I can't wait to see new in-game footage from TGS.

mewhy323866d ago

This game is going to be amazing. I am so excited about this exclusive. You see what can happen when the dev isn't held back by the lowest common denominator? Just think of how good this game looks now and what the devs will be able to do next and next and next with exclusive software for the mighty PS4. Wow amazing.

Evilsnuggle3866d ago Show
Downserj3866d ago

I will not be getting a PS4 right away. But this would definitely be the game to get me to buy one after it releases.

There are no other exclusives on PS4 that are drawing my interest besides this one right now. Well besides the F2P MMO stuff maybe.

twinspectre3866d ago

13 dislike ??? oh boy some people dont want a comeback because they are Xbone fanboys and they enjoy FPS and GEARS of War

The_Con-Sept3866d ago

Since its reveal I was intrigued by this game. But every bit of gameplay that I have seen now has me wanting this game more and more. Looks like destiny and deep down are going to be my main two games for a while.

mewhy323866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

Wow. This game just looks better and better. Exclusive for the PS4 doesn't have to worry about being held back by the lowest common denominator Regis. That means that the dev can take full advantage of the PS4's Superior hardware and not have to try and cope with the bones weakness.

ChrisW3865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

The real reactions and comments are at the bottom of the page posting the screenshots.

Of course those people would be called a troll in a heart beat if they posted the same comments here.

BallsEye3866d ago

Not nearly as good as that CGI people claimed to be gameplay. Still probably will be awesome game. Loved Dragons Dogma. Hope it's something similar.

FamilyGuy3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

It was never CGI, it was running on target hardware based on the PS4s power, aka a PC.

It was not some video (CGI = video) and this was proven by the imperfections that were visible back then. That video was thoroughly inspected right after it came out. CGI doesn't have jaggies, clipping of textures etc. The imperfections proved it wasn't a video.

It definitely wasn't CGI.

Most likely just higher polygon models, probably a couple million used for the dragon and each character.

Here's the chunky guy they used for motion capture commenting about the game and the experience. He was the one that was complaining at the campfire scene.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Read the linked comment
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

LOL, here he is talking again in the comments section but this time he specifically states "The game’s realism is because it is not CGI, but rather a very accurate computerization of we actors being filmed actually going through our interactive dialog scenes in a motion catpture studio. Sword play, explosions, magic, insults, back-stabbing, envy, hate, … all that."

http://www.uproxx.com/gamma...

ceed9113866d ago

Yeah this isn't nearly as good looking as that reveal trailer they showed. I loved Dragon Dogma's as well, but as its Capcom I never get too excited.

Evilsnuggle3866d ago

First deep down trailer was not cgi it's running on game engine . http://www.gametrailers.com... also it was broken down on in the depths on gt here a link sounds like a butt hurt X girl . http://www.gametrailers.com...

NoLongerHereCBA3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

I agree with you ballsEye. These screenshots look quite nice, but they don't come close to the reveal trailer that was being shown. Which make me believe that that wasn't running in real-time.

The difference in quality is just too big.

@Evilsnuggle, in-engine and real-time is a very big difference.

black0o3866d ago

u need to learn the def between in real time engine CS and a CGI, ND uses RTE in UC, TLOU and doesn't includes any type of CGI that's why they were able to get smooth transition between gameply and CS which delivered the best cinematic experience in games ever made

so I great to know what kinda of engines can the ps4 run

let them dance .. few hours from now and the gameplay steam will shu them just like with Driveclub back at e3 ""looks so bad bla bla bla.."" and now not a word of those has been heard

Blaze9293866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

This is the game people were just saying is miles ahead of Ryse? Trippin

SquillieDeeWilliams3866d ago

I was about to say the exact same thing. This looks decent, but does NOT look as good as Ryse.

Bobby Kotex3866d ago

There's nothing special about these screens at all, and I'm a huge PS3/PS4 fan. Looks like Demons Souls.

Ps4Console3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

The leap in Graphics is not going to be huge don't forget but they'll have more polygons to shift around yes & more on screen but it's not a huge leap forward like a Nvidia Titan card you can forget that .

AbortMission3865d ago

26 butthurt drones can't handle the epicness of Deep Down Lol

SonyPS3603865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

It looks good but not the graphical leap that the reveal trailer implied. They obviously faked that first trailer by putting a little HUD icon in the corner of a pre-rendered cinematic.

It's weird, but so far for next-gen; Ryse still has the best looking actual gameplay footage, graphically at least.

It's still early days though. There's some other beautiful looking games on the Ps4 that we need to see gameplay footage of.

I'm just annoyed at the double standard shown by the community here. No Ps4 exclusive has been criticised for faking gameplay visuals, yet there's been a huge song & dance made about Ryse screenshots looking different, despite actual gameplay footage being available.

ABeastNamedTariq3866d ago

Looks very good -- if not beautiful! The first one is my favorite.

Pancit_Canton3866d ago

Looks almost like an Avatar CGI.

Salooh3866d ago

FF15 yes but this no even if you compare it to the reveal trailer that looked awesome. These are first year games. So i don't expect a huge step like that until 2 or 3 years. Last years are always the best but by the time we reach them i for one will be already bored of the ps4.

SonyPS3603865d ago (Edited 3865d ago )

Okay, let's roll it back a bit. You're getting a bit over excited; even by console fanboy standards.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3866d ago

What??

Those screens aren't impressive.

Abriael3866d ago

Keep telling yourself that mate :D

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

Sorry Buddy. I'm extremely excited for this game, and I'm sure the game itself looks great. But those screens a fugly.

What is so impressive about them? It's 720p and the angles are off. They're blurry. In the one with the monster in it you can't even make out any detail in the guys armor because he's in a shadow. And what the heck is going on in the third one? I don't even know what that is.

Abriael3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

you are either very liberal in the use of hyperbole or your idea of "fugly" is more than a little weird.

The polycount is visibly extremely high, and the textures are stunning.

Oh, and the fact that the screenshots are 1280 x 720 doesn't necessarily determine the final resolution of the game.

Edit: actually the screenshots are 960x540, so yeah, they say absolutely nothing of the final resolution of the game. As a matter of fact, they just seem to be 1080p halved in size.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3866d ago

Sorry I'm not having it. I'm a playstation only gamer so I'm not being a fanboy. And when I first saw the Deep Down trailer at the 2/20 event it look like the most beautiful game next gen had to offer. But these screens make it look like Dark Souls. Those screens do not do the game justice, they're blurry and while it might have a high poly count the low resolution makes the textures look bad. And aliased. Those screens... are not impressive.

_QQ_3866d ago

He is right, these particular screenshots don't show off much.

starchild3866d ago

The first shot looks great. The armored knight looks amazing. But the second shot isn't so impressive. The ground textures at the bottom of the shot look kind of low-res and flat.

bujasem_893866d ago

why are you defending the screens like they are your children?? The game is awesome I cannot wait to own it, and the PS4! but the screens them selves are horrid! @Abriael

+ Show (3) more repliesLast reply 3866d ago
ABeastNamedTariq3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

I'm pretty sure those are off-screen screenshots (correct me if I'm wrong). They look great to me.

EDIT:

Oops, I'm dumb. I was thinking about the other three released screenshots. I shouldn't comment when I'm tired. Sorry!

Abriael3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

They're not.

1nsomniac3866d ago (Edited 3866d ago )

I have to agree, the first image is clearly rendered & the other 2 as he quite rightly says are not impressive at all.

There is no detail to see in the 2nd picture infact the only good texturing is on the far wall. The floor & monster textures are very poor & blurry - Clearly not a visibly 'extremely' high polygon count! (I think your getting mixed up with your renders) aswell the poor solid volumetric block lighting effect coming from the left of the screen.

The 3rd image although you can tell in motion it would probably look great, in picture form its nothing new & showing no new particle effects or anything really & again showing very poor texturing not even any bump mapping what so ever.

..My guess is that these are from very, very early code & that there really is such a thing as blind fanboyism because a lot of people are seeing things that just arnt there!

MasterCornholio3866d ago

"..My guess is that these are from very, very early code"

Yeah this reminds me of peoples reactions when they saw DriveClub at E3. I'm pretty sure that the final product will look much better than this.

Nexus 7 2013

BlackTar1873866d ago

I agree these shots arn't overly impressive. But this game is and as a gamer who doesn't reall y care that much about graphics but more the experience. I am just as hyped as i ever was. Love these type of Dark souls games. Need a lot more MORE MORE MORE.

need tough every movement and attack counts and could get you killed games. Love it.

SonyPS3603865d ago

I'm glad it's not just me. These don't look like a big leap to me at all. They look more like the best that can be done with current gen consoles.

I'm dissappointed.

Layden Has 'No Idea' What Happened to Capcom Deep Down Game

SullysCigar957d ago

I thought this looked fun. I hope they do something with it eventually.

Rangerman1208957d ago

From what I have read, they wanted to delay the game to make the graphics "realistic". Imo, the game already looked good as it is. My guess is that perhaps they shifted their focus for a ps5 release but only time will tell.

Michiel1989956d ago

considering it looked basically better than any other game in that trailer, they were probably too ambitious. They also wanted to have endless dungeons, have several historic periods that they wanted to realize, infinite randomly generated loot. its not being made for ps5, it went in the dumpster, no way capcom would let them work on it from then on until now. it was like 9 years ago or something that trailer came out?

Ashunderfire86956d ago

I remember seeing demo footage of this game on the PS4! It already look like one of the best looking games on the PS4, like a prenext gen game before PS5.

Shinox956d ago (Edited 956d ago )

This was never meant to be a game and it was more like a showcase for their engine "Panta Rhei" that they never used in any game ( which probably named RE Engine now ) , yes this project was meant to be a low budget free to play game for the PS4 and planned to release in Japan but all of that was canceled in a matter of few months , this whole project has been silently canceled long long time ago and people does not know Capcom well when it comes to sideswiping projects

Giraiga13956d ago

@Shinox if what you said is true then that's a big shame really. I was really looking forward for the game, and it had some cool ideas and mechanics that caught my attention (though making it a F2P title was somewhat worrisome).

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 956d ago
darthv72957d ago

I always thought it was because of this games questionable development that they were able to do the deal for SFV in its place.

SyntheticForm957d ago

As far as I'm aware not a single game was developed with the Panta Rhei engine. Some aspects of the engine may have been folded into Capcom's current engines, but who knows, really?

I thought it looked really good at the time it was shown.

Giraiga13956d ago

Agreed. The game had a lot of promise, jankiness aside. Plus, I sorta loved the survival horror aspects of the game in certain areas.

ManInRed957d ago

Still sucks we haven't heard much from it. Really liked the concept behind it, and I feel like I was one of the very few who liked the game's music. A shame it's in hiatus as of now.

Sciurus_vulgaris957d ago

I think Platinum has been overextending itself for a good while now. Scalebound was canceled after missing deadlines and Bayonetta 3 has shown nothing since its announcement in 2017.

Sciurus_vulgaris957d ago

Posted my comment on the wrong article..,

Rangerman1208956d ago (Edited 956d ago )

Like Darkborn said, you still have a good point, even if it's not related to this newspiece.

Sciurus_vulgaris956d ago (Edited 956d ago )

@Darkborn and Rangerman1208

I think Deepdown's disappearance is simply due to Capcom focusing resources on their already established IPs ( Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and too a lesser extent Devil May Cry). Despite the vaporware nature of Deepdown, Capcom has been doing quit well for the past 4 years or so.

TheExecutioner957d ago

even capcom doesnt know .. no one knows what happened

Rangerman1208957d ago

Honestly, I want to believe the game will happen but after what happened with Wild, who's to say Capcom won't consider on pulling the plug on the game?

A shame cause the game looked very interesting.

Barneyco956d ago

Excuse my ignorance but was Wild cancelled or delayed? I didn't hear news about that.

Barneyco956d ago

I looked Wild up. I had no idea it was cancelled last year. I was looking forward to it.

spicelicka957d ago

It's quite deep down this game

hulk_bash1987956d ago

Deep down seemed like Vaporware from the start. There was never anything shown beyond the initial reveal trailer.

Yppupdam956d ago (Edited 956d ago )

There is always games like this that look cool and excites everybody...and then it disappears. Look at "8 days", everything about that game looked as cool as hell, The Story, Ving Rhames as one of the characters and pretty cool game mechanics (of what video leaked out of them) That game still stings to me, I really wanted to play it.

Giraiga13956d ago

Same thing with The Getaway for the PS3. I always wanted to try out English GTA from Sony, but it sadly never came to be.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 956d ago
DVAcme957d ago

While the game never came out, I don't think it was time wasted. If you look well at how the camera follows the character and how it moves around during "gameplay", you'll notice it's spot-on identical to the camera in Resident Evil 2 Remake. Deep Down might have been cancelled, but it most likely became a proof of concept for Capcom in development of the REngine.

Magic_Spatula957d ago

I always thought it was a tech demo never intended to become an actual game. Pretty sure it's just them showing off what would eventually become their proprietary engine Reach For The Moon Engine or "RE Engine" as most people call it.

gleepot956d ago

capcom calls it the RE Engine, because thats what its called

Giraiga13956d ago

To quote from the other guy, it's definitely likely that Phanta Rei probably transformed into the RE engine. Still, it sucks the game might not see the light of day, especially considering how ambitious Capcom was with it.

Hopefully its still in development and will be released on ps5 because deep down trailer looked amazing when showed years ago

Sonic-and-Crash1393d ago

i hope this to transform to " Dragon s Dogma 2 Deep Down" ....would be smart move and excellent to revisit DDogma elaborate world

Lore1393d ago

I’m hoping for both

camel_toad1393d ago

Capcom is really sitting on Dragon's Dogma and I don't get why. It was an out of nowhere fantastic game.

They need to come out with the sequel already.

Hakuoro1393d ago

That's actually what I always thought, that it was just a code name for a Dragon's Dogma game.

bouzebbal1393d ago (Edited 1393d ago )

heard good things about DD.
didnt have a chance to try it, so i hope the series gets some love cause i think it was successful.

Michiel19891392d ago

@sonic I rather hope for a Monster Hunter deep down, that could be amazing

Army_of_Darkness1392d ago

It's probably gonna be a ps5 game now.

nitus101392d ago

I will agree Dragon's Dogma is an excellent game and having the ability to climb on huge enemies is fairly unique, however, I really hope that Capcom (if they make DD2) reduces those "escort missions" or at least makes them much more interesting. Of course, if I hear "Harpy!" one more time I am going to scream.🤪

Renewing a trademark is a sign of life because they cannot just indefinitely renew it, they only get so many renewals before it is rejected and open to the market again.

Good, hopefully we see Deep Down on PS5.

Kavorklestein1393d ago

I kind of have a feeling that Deep Down was put off until new hardware because the Quality of what we saw in the trailer looked like it was causing major frame issues and stutters on the PS4 the time.

The PS5 may finally be able to handle the visual goal of what they were going for.
