Lol Crytek the "King of Graphics"? Sure maybe on PC, but on consoles their games always under deliver. Games like Halo 4, Uncharted 3/Last of Us and God of War III all look much better (and play better) than something like Crysis 3 on consoles.

To me the original looks loads better, not faded and less blurry.

Could be a simple case of a completely new screenshot that is taken from an updated version of the game. Might be that they had to reduce the quality a little bit to ge it running smoothly with the provided X1 specs.

My comment about Driveclub relates to a valid point ... Why would I care about being able to view star constalations in a driving game - thats not bashing anyone its just my opinion.

I was at Gamescom and played/saw Driveclub , Ryse and Forza 5 running on actual ps4 and x1 hardware and I can assure you that forza 5 looks and runs better than driveclub does and driveclub maybe 1080p but it runs nowhere near 60fps.

The point i was making was if the PS4 really is that much more powerful than X1 you couldn't see it from the games I saw.

You can argue all You want but what i saw was what i saw and if a PS4 'exclusive' is not making good use of the power on offer then maybe the games not all that good..... just a thought

I worked for a gaming magazine (among other magazines), and pretty much every screenshot gets a little tweak/boost in some settings to make it pop-out a bit more, or whatever.

No biggie.

Ryse doesn't look appealing to me though. Not a big fan of QTE-games. I also know nothing about the main character(?) or story or whatever, so I'll just see how it will turn out, but I kinda expect it to score in the high 70's, low 80's.

It's also playable on Beta hardware shown in youtube leaked videos. Why the fuss about screenshots when the game already is up and running? Also the so called "original picture" is not completely original at all. Just for the sake of the article quality in Original one was downed awfuly just to make it look 480p resolution. Let's be honest here, the photoshop is pretty obvious in that shot but why wouldn't they photoshop it? Those straps are clipping pretty bad and they wanted to use the shot for the site so touching it up isn't really a big deal. I can't imagine any game company posting a shot that clearly shows a big imperfection like that on their website.

It probably would've been a better idea to just take a shot where the straps weren't clipping but I guess photoshopping was easier.

I don't see the problem in the Infamous shot you trolls are posting. I see ailasing on the tail light of one car and I don't see Sony trying to hide it. What is it about that shot that makes it a "bullshot"/ photoshopped?

I'd say the recent news about the resolution (upscaling to 1080p instead of native) is a bigger deal than this.

Though photoshopping screenshots isn't cool, it may turn out that the added detail was something they planned to have in there by launch.

Either way it won't impact the fun factor, and Ryse has always looked fun to me. I just never agreed that it was the best looking early next gen title around.

The art style in ryse is what sucks if you ask me. The graphics are fine, the gameplay looks shit though. Forget about the qte's the combat just lacks a certain fluidity that makes the overall game seem lame. Thats just my opinion though this is a launch titles so sure many people will pretend its the best game ever but in a few yrs we will look back and most of us will acknowledge the truth.

I've played it at the GS Expo, and I must say it was very disappointing....

This was my top X1 game, but visually it was no where nearrrrr what we saw at E3, and worst of all were the controls... It just felt very clunky...

Forza 5 however exceeded expectations and is now the #1 for me on X1.

I was curious about RYSE. I kept thinking that it couldn't he as bad as people were making it out to be.

I still haven't played, but initial reports are not promising. Graphics look good, gameplay does not look the least bit entertaining.

Forza 5 looks fantastic. To me- it is the only "must have" exclusive launch title for xb1. In a sea of current gen ports, options kinda seem scarce. If you are getting a PS4, it looks like Killzone:Shadow Fal is your game of choice. If don't like racing games, your're probably not getting Forza, so RYSE needs to be a successful title. I still remain skeptical.

Hard to believe? It's pretty obvious that the clipping on the strap and the armor was photoshopped away. And it really doesn't have much to do with whether Crytek can produce "great graphics," it's just a minor modeling error that should be easy to fix.

I don't really have a problem with "bullshots" that adjust contrast or saturation or whatever, but the clone tool should *never* enter the equation.

On a side note, the modeling and texture work on the NPC is *way* below the quality of the main character.

Its not just the things pointed out in the article. There's a lot more 'touching up' going on. Look at the skin-tone on the arms, the shadows under the helmet are reduced (to show more clarity), various coloured patches are minimised and altered.

Not saying it means much (if anything), but there is a lot of Photoshoping in that picture.

It is DEFINITELY a noticeable difference. (but then again some people can't tell last gen from this gen...so if people are that or are towards that end of the spectrum...then perhaps they'll miss it too).

But for the average gamer they are going to notice a big difference.

Whatever site used those two photos as comparisons should be ashamed of using low res photos to make a comparison. This way both look awfully similar.

When you see the better quality images of those two images, you'll see one that looks noticeably worse.

Still tho, im all for ps3/4, but youre pointing at a minor difference in an image that would go by you unnoticed in the actual gameplay. I still guarantee this game will be complete garbage, but i judge a game for what it is, not on what system in plays on. Titanfall will look horrid if we dissected its screenshots, at least compared to ryse, but it doesnt stop it from being an insanely awesome game, gameplay wise. Ryse might look good, but i can tell you the gameplay will be horrible, and il be surprised if it gets more than an average of 8 from reviews

Im starting to wonder if any of these so called fan boys ever play games esp the Sony ones as they seem to be commenting on here 24 7 about how much better the ps4 is over the one. Great we get the message the ps4 is going to be more powerful now as a gamer I want to play games and I want to play games like halo, forza Mario, dk, pokemon, Zelda, Alan wake ect. Photoshopping screenshots should really be considered misleading consumers and should be highly illegal. Having said that we've seen Ryse in motion and unless every frame of that video was individually photoshopped it looks pretty damn good. I'm not personally expecting it to play all that well given what I've seen and the studio's past games but you have to admit it looks pretty damn pretty.

I've only watched videos. As for touching up screenshots its not unusual for publishers to pass the AA filter over images that are used online or on boxes.

Odd how so many people think it's just an issue of lighting or color or an AA filter or something that was shopped... they don't even see the two clipping issues on the NPC's left shoulder that were edited out.

It's a minor clipping issue, but it *was* edited out of the image. Funny how people who think they have such a great eye for detail that they can visually tell 4xAA from 8xAA.... can't seem to spot bits of actual geometry that are different between the two.

As an impartial view from someone who has had the good fortune to play both next gen consoles and some of the games (E3 and Gamescom) I will say this.

RYSE- looks great and has great graphics and atmosphere , some of the the best graphics I have seen in a console game ( although I only got to play one level ) the combat is good it reminded me of a cross between Arkham City and heavenly sword on the PS3.
I was originally sceptical about the whole quick time events but found out by playing it that the QTE's are included as optional 'finishing' moves much like God of War (when the button icon appears above an enemies head) You don't have to perform them you can keep on attacking as normal if you prefer. but the game does look good.

KILLZONE - Looks amazing but is definitely not running at 60fps as some people are claiming , graphics and textures on a par with the the original e3 reveal - undeniably impressive , controls felt more responsive than killzone 2/3 on the PS3 without that 'weighty' feeling the older games had - a change for the better in my opinion.
Theres no denying its a stunning looking shooter probably on a par with Crysis 3 running on a mid / high spec pc or slightly better.

DRIVECLUB - Looks good and maybe theres a lot going on behind the scenes but after seeing Forza 5 I found this to be the least impressive of what was on offer from the Next Gen machines.
Textures did seem a little Muddy and 'flat' to me ( I played straight after Forza - this is not a dig sony camp )
Lighting was good and there was good use of dynamic lighting however the game wasn't running at 60fps as some have claimed it felt like somewere between 30-60fps ( this is backed up by developers who are reporting a target framerate of 60fps but not quite there yet)
I have to admit i was surprised I was not as impressed as with F5 especially as this was a PS4 exclusive and I agree on paper the PS4 is the more powerful machine theres no denying that.

FORZA 5 - For me the most impressive of all the next gen launch lineup games , Great graphics as near as dammit constant 60fps and even though some of the lighting may have been pre-baked it did look great.
Driveclub may have more things going on in the background regards lighting/weather/ etc but what I saw of F5 i think made better use of the resources available especially as the X1 is rumoured to be less powerful than the PS4.
Turn 10 (?) the developer have obviously spent a lot of time polishing this game and there really was not denying how optimised the game felt for the X1 , thats not to take anything away from the Driveclub camp as I hope they hit the target 60fps and deliver a stunning product also , But I have to say if I had to make a call right now based on Graphics / feel / framerate then I would put Forza slightly ahead of Driveclub , Not taking anything away from PS4 (obviously a very powerful machine) but thats an unbiased opinion based on what I played.

KILLER INSTINCT - Two Words 'F*cking mental , looked great ( though possibly not 1080p ) very fast and fluid as a free to play game I'm interested - but prob would not pay full price for it.

PS4 overall impressions - very small (like a PS3 Slim in size) very slick nice controller liked no external power brick obviously powerful graphically (Killzone)

Xbox One - Big , Square didn't like external power brick about 1/3 bigger again than PS4 but certainly has its own individual charm - liquid black nice colour.

Overall I'd say next gen looks incredible no matter what console You'll be buying You're in for a great experience.

The major problem for this article is that we've seen the game running in action on an XB1 in 1080p and it looks great. It's actually not uncommon for games to render photos before release...i.e. Killzone, Last of Us, COD, Battlefield...so this really isn't news at all...and it doesn't fly far because there is a massive amount of proof out there that this game looks amazing...even on youtube.
