imo I want less shooting, more talking, RPG elements and puzzles please. Also less "Epic." Just take place on a small mining asteroid town or something.

I want the combat of ME2/3 with the RPG aspects of ME1. That would be a good starting point, then they can refine and improve upon everything from there. It would be pretty sweet if they actually let us pilot our ship through space and trade resources through an in-game economy. Give us more potential squad members, maybe 10 or 12, but only let us choose 5 or 6 to join our team. Let us make more important choices and give us more noticeable and long lasting consequences/benefits based on the choices we make.

That's what I want for the next ME game.

linkenski3873d ago

Why does so few realise that ME2 is vastly different than ME3 in terms of combat and action-structure. ME3 was one big rollercoaster and there was barely any exploration in the combat sections. In ME2 we had more chances to sit back and breathe for a minute, maybe get some more story or so before we got to a new section with waves of enemies.

In ME3, it was just, if you were lucky, a little breather here and there, but when there was combat it was just wave and wave after wave of enemies. It was downright tedious and boring in the end.

I like ME1 most because of the freedom, but ME2 had the best balance overall... ME3 was very unenjoyable, but I won't completely discredit it. It did have great moments even if the main plot sucked ass.

Wni03873d ago

Yeah mass 1 besides the weaopn customization nonsense, was way better for an RPG stance. I would just love a more "personal" story, hence just building relationships and doing somethin simple as an end game, like saving enough money to get a ticket off the rock.

ForgivenZombie3873d ago

ME3 ruined the series for me because it was like all my decisions really didn't matter, so they're going to have to impress me greatly to buy another one. If I do get it I hope they actually put more time into the story and don't allow themselves to be rushed by EA and release another unfinished game like ME3.

I want the same amount of shooting and similar amounts of talking (the more the merrier to be honest with ME). What I want the dialogue to really do is have a meaningful impact.

You can have as much dialogue as you want but if its overall purpose is basially filler then it loses its value. ME is one of those games where Im waiting for Shep to have one of those lines!

"We will fight. We will sacrifice. And we will find a way!"

Epic stuff there ^_^

linkenski3873d ago

No. ME3 had three major problems: The story was too big in scope for my taste, way too long action sequences, way too long dialogue sections with no player-input.

TekoIie3873d ago (Edited 3873d ago )

More dialogue does not translate into less dialogue options or more dialogue options. What im saying is that the game should be story focused.

"The story was too big in scope for my taste, way too long action sequences"

Debatable. That would imply you did not like ME1 since it had some long levels and ME2's ending was pretty action oriented. I mean What did you expect?

"way too long dialogue sections with no player-input."

This is a trade off system. You either go for more freedom with dialogue or less freedom which results in a cinematic experience with a more hard-hitting/better script.

The best solution is to have a balance.

linkenski3873d ago

Unfortunately half the ME playerbase consist of stupid idiots who want exactly that... more mindless and numbing shooting.

ME3 sucked and if ME4 is even remotely close to that It's gonna be lame.

TekoIie3873d ago (Edited 3873d ago )

Elaborate on Mindless and numbing shooting? So I had no objective in mind when I fight through Cerberus, Geth or the Reapers? I had sub-goals dependent on the mission but overall it was to save the galaxy.

Also let me get this straight! Mindless numbing shooting = bad direction. But in your opinion and I quote, "The story was too big in scope"...

.... So basically every direction the franchise could go is wrong in your opinion?

ninjahunter3873d ago

I agree, persona 4 proved that a less... "grand" setting and theme can actually be much more enthralling.

A story about a mining settlement being pushed into a slow grind(i don't mean level up grinding) for survival would be a great way to expand mass effect lore.

So far mass effect has only touched on "the big guys", but a look at the little guys(working class) Would definitely be more relatable to most people, and likely could go a long ways in their character development.

Xof3873d ago

I'm sorry, but you're not in Mass Effect's key demographic.

Hope we get to chose other alien races & not just humans

raresteak3873d ago

Which reminds me: Hope we get to see how the Quarians and Volus look.

PygmelionHunter3873d ago

(Badassfully) Elcor and Hanar FTW.

linkenski3873d ago

I really want this as well. I hope it's not too similar to ME3.

raresteak3873d ago

No need for a galactic threat, or any big threat for that matter.

Just give us the galaxy that we all know, to explore a lot more freely now, with even more star systems, planets, colonies and little stories that don't necessarily have to tie to something important.

NarooN3873d ago

Agreed. The constant reminding about "zomg gaiz we gata hurri or we'll all dye!!11one!" becomes overbearing after a while.

I mean, I played the whole trilogy multiple times before, and I always had more fun doing the random side missions and more minor side-stories than I did trying to take out the reapers or what have you...

Hope the next game doesn't have some generic "build up your forces to go combat huge threat that we never stop talking about" cliche.

Iltapalanyymi3873d ago

This is going to be great. I love Mass Effect.

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox331d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

anast331d ago

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.

Better not bring back Shepherd from the dead with some half assed space magic.

Snowb420531d ago

If you get your readiness level high enough in Mass Effect 3, *spoilers* you can see Shepard taking in a breath of air under some rubble. It would depend on whichever ending is canon.

FPS_D3TH530d ago

I came here to say the indoctrination theory absolutely solidified the ending of this trilogy for me in the best way

@snowb420.
Yeah I saw that at the end of my play through as well. I think they will bring Shepard back….. or at least a mutant version turned villain. Lol
