We have seen several sources from developers and in the fact sheet that the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One. That is not a question, and it doesn't what matter they do, MS cannot match the performance of the PS4. MS got cloud you say? Well, PS4 has cloud too that can be used for A.I., physics and so on; doesn't need azure.

From reports that the PS4 is 50% faster, therefore is more powerful:
"Our contacts have told us that memory reads on PS4 are 40-50 per cent quicker than Xbox One, and its ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) is around 50 per cent faster. One basic example we were given suggested that without optimisation for either console, a platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but it’ll run at “20-something” FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One. “Xbox One is weaker and it’s a pain to use its ESRAM,” concluded one developer."

Various developers also mention the PS4 is much easier to develop for:
"There’s no learning curve for developers to take advantage of that hardware because it’s x86.
When asking developers what their experiences have been so far with software, the commentary shifted dramatically in Sony’s favor."
"So on the ease-of-use side, the architecture employs a 256-bit bus and GDDR5 memory, a combination that provides 176 gigabytes per second of bandwidth; this set up allows straightforward programming techniques to result in impressive graphics, without the need for highly specialized coding.

Developers have praised the PS4's Development and Power, there any hardly much news for the Xbox One in regard to this. There are reports that both companies are working on their drivers, but let's face it, MS updates their drivers so will SONY, they can't catch up at all.
From all this, I do not see why the PS4 version of all multi-platform games will not be the superior version. These games for PC aren't held back in power, gimped, so why would it be like that for consoles? The company and us owners of the system, want you to use all the power from the console, and give us the best experience as you can. I don't want you holding anything back, if a manufacture created parts for a Lamborghini and a BMW, why in the world will they lower the performance for parts of the Lamborghini to match the BMW's power? It's not right and limiting it's potential; plus imagine the backlash they will get. This gen the PS4 is much easier to develop for and has vastly greater power performance. There is no excuse that the PS4 version of games should not be noticeably superior, DO NOT GIMP MY VERSIONS. Blame the maker of the other console if it can't match the quality of the superior hardware, it's their fault, don't make the gamers suffer with lower quality games, and since we are about to start the new generation of consoles, show the gamers that the PS4 versions will be the best console version to entice them even further to get the PS4, and not worry about much consumers not getting the best experience since most will have the PS4.
"One source even suggested that enforcing parity across consoles could become a political issue between platform holders, developers and publishers. They said that it could damage perceptions of a cross platform title, not to mention Xbox One, if the PS4 version shipped with an obviously superior resolution and framerate; better to “castrate” the PS4 version and release near-identical games to avoid ruffling any feathers."
This better not happen, if it does, I am not getting the game, or just buy is used; mostly what I will do. So they won't get a penny, unless there is some online code I got pay, better $5-10 than $60. If they don't to want worry about how much power they show off, then make a Wii U version or game; people expect lower performance output. I know the majority of you agree with me. DO NOT GIMP THE PS4 VERSIONS. It will be such a shame to have these games not show-off their full potential because they are holding back on purpose. To me that is having the game incomplete, you could have done more, but you didn't. You just settle for less, and just have us deal with it. No, I'm not going to go through with that. Give us the best game you can make. Show off the PS4's power and potential, DO NOT GIMP MY PS4 VERSIONS!!
Atlantic City - America’s Playground is the dark and dramatic sequel to the glitz and glam of Atlantic City – Boardwalk Paradise.
Quest Daily went hands-on with the Stellar Blade demo ahead of March 30th: 'It's one of my most anticipated games of the year'.
One of the surprise games coming out of PAX East 2024 is Pocket Trap's Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo. A "Zelda-like", the game mixes overhead dungeons and exploration with a great cast and a genius hook: a yoyo.
What scares me is that one BS Microsoft publishing policy:
"Titles for Xbox 360...must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available"
I could totally see MS muscling publishers into gimping PS4 versions with a liberal interpretation of "feature parity"
100% agree. This won't be much of a problem from Japanese devs, seeing as their games barely sell on the Xbox platform. Like FFXV, because SE is developing it on a level that both consoles aren't capable of and then directly ported down to them, it'll be very easy to differentiate the PS4 and XBO versions and which one can replicate the original version.
But western devs? Oh hell yes.
Hopefully like Poprocks said, I don't think it'll be that bad since the PS4 will have a significantly larger install base, but we need to make sure devs don't gimp the PS4 versions.
This goes back to that article that discussed just about the same thing, but from a different angle. In it, the author pointed out that with the current gen; the PS3 was incredibly hard to develop for and take advantage of, and at the same time it was far more expensive and came out much later than Xbox 360. Therefore, not only would it have been a hassle for multiplatform devs to unlock PS3's full potential, it would seem like a waste of time because the Xbox 360 had the bigger, more popular install base (at least for the time).
However, with this new generation Sony's PS4 is the console that's not only coming out first, it's also much cheaper than the Xbox One, which will ensure the more popular install base. So, the dilemma that developers used to face between the current gen consoles should no longer apply.
Game consoles have almost always developed for the weakest link first especially when it comes to big devs. It's almost always the best way to get equal performance on both consoles.
OMG you people are a mess. I could do an entire sociological paper and study on this site.
