" Danish gamer Morten Skou (one of many) is willing to make the 6 -7 hour return drive from Copenhagen to Flensburg to snag several Xbox One consoles to bring back"

That is just stupid. He could buy one off the internet to be delivered to his house. The cost of petrol would dwarf the shipping costs (hell ebay will no doubt have some with good shipping deals)

xHeavYx3878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

I thought the One would only work where it is released? Unless he downloads whatever patches are needed at some point in Germany.
EDIT: You still have to download the patch for the One to be region free, as far as I'm concerned.

HolyDuck3878d ago

As far as I'm aware the console is now Region Free? I'm guessing MS just didn't have the manufacturing power to supply the world.

no_more_heroes3878d ago

As far as I can recall, MS have always said that the XB1 and all its games are completely region free.

cyguration3878d ago

@HolyDuck

It's region free AFTER the day-one patch.

GiantEnemyCrab3878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

I thought the day one patch was to remove DRM. I haven't seen a source anywhere that says the patch is required to make it region free, even in the article you posted.

"He also noted that all games are "worldwide signed" i.e. region-free"

OC_MurphysLaw3878d ago

Per the link given by xHeavYx.....

"When the console launches this November, we will support Xbox One in 13 markets. Xbox One may be used in all countries, including the non-launched markets. In addition, Xbox One games are not region locked. Any Xbox One game purchased at retail can be used in any country on any Xbox One," said Microsoft in a statement.

"That said, there needs to be a valid payment method corresponding to a supported launch country in order for any transactions to occur over Xbox Live, and some content may not be accessible outside launch markets due to geographic content restrictions imposed by content right holders."

doesnt sound like that patch is region locked at all.

whoyouwit043878d ago

That's why you should do some research.

BluEx6103878d ago

For the Day One patch you need to be logged onto your Xbox's Region internet, give them your name, social security, credit cards, location, and Then you got to sacrifice a goat, drink it's blood, and chant all hail Xbox One for 30 mins. Then after all that you're console will be ready. =) /s....

P0werVR3878d ago

Aahhh, the Hanseatic.

I used to be a master trader (Rank President) there.

Those were the days. No one made a move without my say.

Perhaps it's not that easy Superman? Or a guarantee of a day one delivery. From the outside what you suggest makes sense, but in practice might not be feasible if you want the X1 in your hands without delay.

v6volume3878d ago

@cyguration
That's a great point. I forgot all about the Day One patch. You would think they would ship the console with the patch already installed, granted they're about to make all these last minute tweaks

LucasEVille3878d ago

Flensburg is on the border of Denmark & Germany, a lot of shops and businesses and even schools have Danish people living and working. No biggy really and the transport is excellent there back into Denmark. (Family in flensburg).

nukeitall3878d ago

When you want the best console out there with the best features and games on launch day, it is worth the cost and drive! :D

I wouldn't cross the room for one:-/

YNWA963878d ago

Why not, does it make you feel insecure?

WeAreLegion3878d ago

May I defend both points?

He wouldn't cross the room for one because he doesn't care to play it.

He doesn't feel insecure. Neither should you.

LordMaim3878d ago

If someone declined to be set on fire, would you ask if it was because they felt insecure?

GodGinrai3878d ago (Edited 3878d ago )

Well..I wont have to cross the room..I just yell "Xbox..on."

@Wearelegion

Let dripsavvy speak for himself. Im sure he is a big boy and can handle responding to comments by himself.

EDIT: a dissagree? what are you, his father?

MysticStrummer3878d ago

"Why not, does it make you feel insecure?"

Ridiculous question.

Guys all the posts so far have been void of biased and immature comments kindly do us all a favour and leave this comments section especially if you have nothing intuitive or mature to say... i think gamers need to respect themselves.you guys follow xbox news so much and find a way to turn every positive into negatives in the end we all deviate from the topic..you guys shouldnt start any crap here pls...by the way im glad to know the xbox one is selling really good.

GodGinrai3878d ago

Im suprised nobody has responded with:

"well everybody gave PS3 a hard time for being $600. this is payback"

"Xbots are under mind control by M$, who are also controlling the media"

"kinet Tv blah blah blah you guys have to pay to play online...but I cant wait to get my hands on PS eye cam, PS-cable and I really dont mind paying for PSN"

"yes the dGPU rumours were debunked by MS themselves..but we are gonna bash M$ anyway..just becuz!"

I could go on. It used to be funny. Now its just borderline spam.

alb18993878d ago

But you stop your life and keep reading articles about Xbox just to troll, so maybe is more important for you than you know.

dripsavvy23878d ago

Wow! Quite the sensitive bunch. I wonder if Microsoft also package in some tissues with the console

To the chagrin of SDF, Xbox One will still be the console choice of many! Long live Xbox!!!

WeAreLegion3878d ago

Do they have to murder your family before you stop buying their products or would that not work either?

alb18993878d ago

You have mental problems!
Why you take this so personal, so serious?
I'm 36 years old, I'm plying since Atari and just don't understand why so much hate against a product.
If you don't like it, keep walking my friend, don't waste your time!

CrimsonStar3878d ago

lol , wow dude you have mental issues .

Bundi3878d ago

Somebody likes Xbox, first thing on SDF's mind, muderng of person's family.

N4G in a nutshell.

SuperLupe3878d ago

Great to see you got ripped of your bubbles even though you're a hardcore Sony troll.

Alot of your type prosper and get even more bubbles but looks like you werent a good enough troll. Or maybe you should troll 100% of Xbox articles and not just 90% next time.

Oh well, when you reach 1 last bubble you'll come back with another account anyway.
