Star Wars Themed Contra Minigame Now Available in Konami’s Force Collection

EB: Konami has released a new update for its Star Wars: Force Collection game, which is free for iOS and Android devices, that adds in a new Star Wars themed Contra minigame to the mix. The minigame will unfortunately be a limited addition to the Star Wars card collecting game, but it still warrants a download just to see what a Star Wars Contra game looks and plays like.

Rather than taking on the role of Contra’s Bill or Lance, players will control Chewbacca in a 2D side-scrolling adventure through four levels. You have to check out the screenshots after the break just to see how awesome this Contra inspired mode truly is.

Star Wars: Force Collection A New Mobile Card Game

Back in the mid 90′s was a good time for card games, you had Magic the Gathering released, which is still massively popular and some of you may remember the Star Wars collectible card game. For many Star Wars fans and card game enthusiasts it was a enjoyable and memorable time. Players were able to battle their friends with Light or Dark side decks, playing cards with their favorite characters, locations, and space craft from the Star Wars universe. It would appear that Konami attempted to re-kindle that joy for Star Wars fans by bringing a brand new card game to the App Store.

Another entry in the category "games noone ever asked for"
I really don't know why some companies develop dozens of bad titles instead of focussing on one good game.

pompombrum3763d ago

Yup, cancel development on a quality sounding game and then releasing a card game, kind of sucks tbh. I'm sure there are many who will enjoy this though.

Prototype_79L3763d ago

If you are talking about 1313, then it was cancelled because of Disney buying Star Wars rights. It is not that they did not want finish the game, but simply they were forced to drop it.

pompombrum3763d ago

^^^ Correct me if I'm wrong but 1313 was dropped because Disney didn't want to continue development. My moan was more at Disney for dropping 1313 and releasing card games instead.

Prototype_79L3763d ago

Have you tried it? How do you know it is bad? It is a mobile game, CCG is a great type for mobile gaming. I did not ask for Marvel puzzle quest - The dark reign either, but it is hell of a good mobile game. And there are many other mobile games which i did not ask for yet still they are great games.

ZodTheRipper3763d ago

Do you want games or for that matter big franchises to go mobile? With Trading Card and Puzzle games that probably are not even profitable?

pompombrum3763d ago (Edited 3763d ago )

Honestly, games like this are probably quite profitable with low risk and potentially high reward if successful. There is nothing wrong with games like this providing it doesn't effect development of console related games.
