This was so obviously coming to PC, hopefully it will be a little more bearable on PC, because on 360 is very very annoying. It seems like this RPG was based on talking and that's it, most (if not all) of the side missions make you just talk to a few people and then go back to the person who gave you the mission, that's it!

While what you say is true, the fact of the matter is most people have already bought an OS, for you know, their PC. So MS isn't getting any extra money. MS owns the OS market, with Apple and Linux somewhat chipping away at it. They're not selling extra copies of Vista for 360 games being ported over.

They are losing sales on the 360 side though. For instance me. I was definitely buying a 360. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War. I havent' played them yet, and was waiting for 65nm to come. Now with this, I might as well just upgrade my video card. My PC already has a QX9650 in it.

Many PC owners cry foul when Xbox platforms "steal" their titles yet don't actually want to support the PC platform or PC developers.

If the trend keeps up when can look forward to PC getting more 360 hand-me-downs (and probably less) and later releases to ensure developers at least recoup their losses on the console versions.

As a longtime PC gamer it really sucks as great games such as System Shock 2 and Deus EX 1 aren't being built upon in any meaningful way, everything’s being dubbed down for consoles because that's where the money's at.

At first you used to be a super 360 fan... after the 360 started sharing its 'exclusives' with the PC.. you then jumped to the mothership MICROSOFT in its entirety as the thing to be a fan of.

Since when is Microsoft such a fan favorite all of a sudden? Everyone uses MS because they HAVE to, since they created the monopoly on MS products, OFFICE/Windows/Excell. What did they do for you, to where you are their #1 support arm? The 360 is a great device, but much like every single other thing MS creates, its severely buggy. DOES THE JOB PERFECTLY FINE, but the quality isn't there. You are always the first to celebrate a PS3 game going multiplatform, then deciding that it was due to sales, and the weak ownership numbers of PS3 owners. Now when the 360 does it, the move is an "expected" One.

This just solidifies what everyone has always said about the 360, you do not NEED to own one to play the exclusive content. Nothing else, No Scores involved, just that simple fact.

I have since spent 270 dollars on parts to upgrade it. (512MB Video Card, 2GB ram, DVD / CD burner, 350W PSU)

Who is the publisher for Mass Effect? Its Microsoft.And they probably are publishing Mass Effect for the PC version as well.And even if their not, its a decision that they are most likely going to be happy with.

This is an expansion of markets that Microsoft consider to be their own.SOny or Nintendo have no vested interest in the PC market because Microsoft will also benefit from their games being released on the PC.Thats why Sony and Nintendo exclusives will never appear on PC.

Games like Huxley and to an extent Universe at war will enable cross platform play between 360 and PC.Will you say Huxley will sell less systems or sell more due to that decision.

PC gaming is slowing down because of piracy and to a larger extent consoles.Microsoft is helping giving gamers the decision (not console fanboys)to stay on PC and and 360.

As i stated before its not a problem the game has sold what it can on the 360 so its time to pass it on to the PC.

Way more than double the cost of a 360 for specs comparable to a 360. Plus I'd bet your monitor is way smaller than your TV. 360 $400, 26" HDTV $450, mid-range surround sound system $350 Total: $1200. Similar PC setup with specs capable of running the games as well as the 360: $3500 plus downloading drivers and maximising settings and all the other tweaks to get the games running properly. Not to mention the kicked back on the couch vs. sitting in a chair. So I guess if you have a lot of extra time and money PC is the way to go for gaming. Me: 360 setup for gaming $400 Dell for PC stuff. $1600 and comfortable with extra cash for games > $3500 and uncomfortable with less extra cash for games.

I didn't have to piece together my 360 with no warranty on anything but the parts themselves. Didn't have to install an OS, drivers, firmware, buy a $2000 dollar TV to be compatible with my computer. Or can you get one of those for $450 too?

So what are playing your 360 on then?? On a NON-HD-TV? If so you should prob stick with your 360, but your missing out on a lot of detail in your games that an HD-TV would show with your 360 games. Installing an OS is extremely easy by the way. Plus my $30 sound card on my pc can connect via optical cable to my Dolby Digital/Pro Logic II stereo receiver.

And think about it Guitarded, how long ago was the 360 released? You really think it's equal to a high end PC today? No it's not. Therefore you don't have to spend the money on a high end pc to play 360 ports.

I certainly didn't see this coming. Why would Bioware release a successful game on an easy to port to platform in order to increase their userbase and profits? Especially since their recent purhcase by EA, who is known for releasing ports of their games on as many platforms as possible?

It's a bit sad, since I got a 360 largely for Mass Effect and JUST got a new PC that can likely play it significantly better, but I'm happy that more people will get to experience the glory that is Mass Effect. People who got it enjoy it are alright. But for the xbox this represents a loss of value. Not the value you see on the store, but the percepted value coming from the consumers.

There is a reason for companies to invest in having exclusive releases for a determined product and, a great part of it, is that having that exclusivity adds value to that product.

Example: If you could get all the games you play on the PS3 on the computer the PS3 would lose some value due to the fact the you could invest a certain amount of money to play those games somewhere else. Which could be less than purchasing a PS3, or not, depending on the condition of your PC.

For me... I have a pretty good Laptop.. and it can calmly run crysis and so on... so I got a PS3 to play Uncharted, Ratchet, FFXIII, Resistance.. etc... etc... all those games that do not usually come to the PC.

So... if I wanted to play Mass Effect desperately... I would go get a xbox right?
Well... not anymore.

Also this represents some frustration to people who got the xbox for certain games that are now available at the PC. Just look at our windows pissing friend up there.

Anyways... I have a friend that owns a xbox and he is really pleased with it... and I went over to his house to play it sometimes and loved this game.. and liked some other that the xbox has. Its just some loss to the console Xbox... not to Microsoft, which is a company that should be admired for its acomplishments even though some might question the means they obtained them.

This news is good for gamers but it's being spinned as a negative for the xbox brand and that's just stupid. Let's clear the air here. I'd be interested to see jut how much better the PC version will look in a moving picture.
With using the hard drive, there won't be any of those late texture loading like in the 360 version.

That alone tells me volumes about where this title will appear. It wont be on the PS3...it wont be on the Wii... It will be MS exclusive still....but published by EA now and allowed to go PC too for the Trilogy. I would bank on it.

I cant help but think the recent swap out of execs between MS and EA has to be reaping some benefits to both sides regarding this.

I am certain MS had the publishing rights to this IP for at least the first two games of Mass Effect. So when Bioware was bought up by EA there had to be some crazy negotiations on the back end going on around this as I am sure EA wanted to be the publisher for the 2nd title for sure but MS held the cards on that. So, a deal gets struck...probably something akin to...we (MS) will let EA publish the next game and give up our rights as publisher on the promise that the trilogy stays exclusive to MS platforms...(360 & Vista) ...and here is some advertising cash promissed around it too.

I agree with you Dlacy but the interesting question that rears its head is why did EA recently post their belief the PS3 would sell better than X360 this year (or whatever it said, fanboy-ism aside). I had been thinking that EA's bad ports to PS3 were tied to the exec swapping you talked about but then that story came out.

I honestly don't like MS but they are not a dumb company. I think the jury is still out on EA though. The fact they seem to be working both sides to a very high level is smart business but they are being very public about it, not sure I am sold on that part of EA's strategy yet. I'm fairly certain ALL the blockbuster 360 games will be released on PC. In fact it's pretty obvious this is the case... so I'm done with faulty crap hardware. I'd much rather build a new gaming PC. The only console worth buying (imo) now is a PS3... It has titles that are truely exclusive.

Microsoft dropped the ball big-time with the xbox division. I still only own xboxes, but this 360 will probably be my last one since there's no incentive anymore. After dropping last gen xbox like a brick, RROD, and now NO TRUE exclusivity what's the point?

The conclusion is that there really is no point in buying an x360. I have nothing against paying MS money if it is for a quality product, like windows, and games for windows, but paying them for something that it`ll die on me really makes no sense.

This will hurt the Xbox360 in the long run. Just like Gears of War and many other games PC gets the updated version with more content, while Xbox360 is just the water down version of yesteryear. They better fix those pop ups, and framerate problems on the Xbox360 like they are going to do with PC. PS3 has more exclusives that are actually exclusives that will never go on the PC. I guarantee Perfect Dark 2 and Banjo 3 will come out on the PC with better graphics and more content. Just another way to screw Xbox gamers who don't have a High-end PC that cost a ridiculous amount of money.

If one doesn't have a medium to high-end PC the PC versions aren't a factor as they won't be able to run them respectably. Perfect Dark Zero still hasn't come out for PC and I'm not expecting PDZ2 to make the jump if it ever eventuates.

This comments are totally useless since NOT EVERY GAMES WILL BE PORTED TO THE PC. Do you have forza 2 on the PC? Halo 3? Microsoft allowing developers to port the games to the PC is a selling point for them... why limit your sells by making a game for 1 platform when you can make it for 2? Specially when once considers that Microsoft benefits from this... Real Gamers also benefit from this too... How? Well.. because they get to play the game on the platform they like... want Gears on the PC intead of the xbox 360? You can still use achivements, gamescore, friends list, etc.
Why aren't people complaining about the games being ported to the xbox 360 from the PC? Game like Command and Conquer, Supreme Commander and others? It goes both ways... microsoft made development between the PC and the xbox 360 too similar not to do it.
Some people here are too dumb to understand the purpose of exclusivity... do you think microsoft care if you want to cover the cost of a high end PC instead of having them paying for the hardware themselves? Pick the PC version... that will not make microsoft upset.

Xbox360 gets the water version either way. Even if a game come out for the PC first and the 360 last with extra content, PC will get that content eventually. That's the difference!!! in some cases like Gears of War 360 don't always get the extra content or the problems fix, which makes it looks like it was a unfinished product.Oh yea Halo 3 will eventually be on the PC!!! Bad business nuff said.

Yes we should all criticise a company for offering choice. If you love PCs that's fine but don't go slagging every other system because it's not you're No.1 choice.

The simple fact of the matter is that 360 is proving far more profitable than PC for developers and this is only a good thing as it allows them to make bigger, better games.

The current PC game market couldn't solely support these big budget games so it's a win-win for MS as it attracts developers by leveraging the 360 and PC userbases.
