As promised earlier by Hideo Kojima, today Kojima Productions released a 3D render of Quiet, the main heroine in Metal Gear Solid V.

And it's not just what she wears but rather the combination of what she wears to what place, at what time, and at what situation. Wearing that outfit to bed with her husband wouldn't make her a slut, but wearing that outfit to stand on the corner of 42nd Street probably means that she is a slut, and wearing that outfit walking around Afganistan is probably going to get her killed.

By the way, women are MUCH more aware of what they were and to what places they should wear it then men are. I would guess that this is because women know that they are judged by how they look, so much so that they can use their looks as a tool, or even a weapon.

A stealth game where there is more SKIN showing then cloths? Come on everyone knows that if your trying to be stealthy uncovered skin is your worst enemy in camouflage.

In dark places you glow in lightly lit areas. In light places you stand out. In the jungle you stand out. There is no protection at all here. I could see this model being okay if it had a full cameo body suit or even one tone grey/black. This outfit isn't for stealth at all.

Even if advanced nano-tech cloaking is used why aren't the arms and chest covered? It seemed more designed for eye candy then combat or stealth utility.

Ok, well ignoring that part I see your point. It doesn't make a lot of sense on the surface for a sniper to be dressed in so little.

That doesn't mean it can't make sense. If she has a personality which allows us to understand exactly why she dresses the way she does, she could be one of the most "sexy" as Kojima puts it, female characters in gaming.

Now I'm no big supporter of 21st century feminism, but I'd expect her lack of regard for what others think of her wardrobe choice might suggest she's a strong woman who isn't afraid to defy social norms.
It might not, but then we won't know until more of her story is revealed.

It'll take a very good story-writer to make this look believable in relation to her personality, but as long as it is, then I don't see the problem (if it's not believable, then it's bad writing).

Eh, its too obvious in its fan service. Its like they are telling me just to stare at her. It also seems extremely impractical for what she is doing too.

I would have prefered her physical design to be more subtle, and to be memorable for than just boobs. She will probably be a cool character, personality wise, but I think this just takes away from it. They should not have just made some character that the average person would look and think she is only there for fanservice.

It would be a bit stupid if her personality didn't explain the way she dressed, but as long as it is believable, then I see no problem.

Besides, most of the players will be men, and this will naturally appeal to most of the playerbase.
I find the argument that things like this "cause" objectification rather than serve as a natural extension of that which is inherent (in varying degrees) to men to be thoroughly unconvincing and tyrannical in nature.

You know what would be great? If American feminazis would stop trying to impose their conception of appropriate conduct towards women on everyone and on other cultures. Not every person or culture regards female beauty as something to be hidden in the name of dubious conceptions of "non-exploitation" and "respect."

Quiet's lack of clothing reveals a great deal about her character, namely, a person who is beautiful with a certain assertiveness and strength, but who is also soft, fragile, and hurt. As with every MGS character, there is a deep personality expressed not just through words and actions, but also through appearance.

Take Eva for example. Her open chest reflected her sexual and aggressive side. However, as you learned more about the character you learned the extent to which is was part of an act.

This same approach to the physical expression of personality is mirrored in the better movies out there. But of course, feminazis wouldn't want to recognize that and extend credence to a video game's portrayal of a female character, because all they care about is seizing the mechanisms of entertainment and socialization in order to craft women into their ideal conception of themselves, and men into willing participants in their delusion. The idea that there are mature men and women out there, who can play a game like this and recognize the beauty of this character AS WELL AS her fragility and personality, either doesn't enter their mind or is cast aside in their attempt to impose ideals on the rest of us.

I for one love this character model. Not just for the obvious reason that she is an attractive woman, which I'm biologically disposed to like, but also because the model suggests a deep and interesting personality who I will enjoy learning about in the game. Just as I enjoyed learning about Sniper Wolf, Eva, the Boss, etc.

You can call me sexist if you want but I applaud the physical side of Quiet's character design. She's hot and looks tough. I don't get angry, as others have mentioned, when men are depicted as buff jug-heads in games and I am far from in shape, lol. I can, however, see how a woman would view the character as objectifying women as sex objects but hey, as far as I'm concerned she looks great.. don't hate! =)

but, as some have pointed in the trailer she does seem to be able to change the colour of her skin, at least around the eyes, and maybe she can do that all over her body, using it as a sort of active camouflage, which would require ta lot of skin being on show.

but then black tights and a black bikini in a desert environment would defeat the purpose of any camo abilities her skin possesses.

i guess we'll have to wait for the game itself to see the context to know if she's just there for sex, or if there's some legitimate reason for that outfit.

but right now, i can't help but feel she's been designed as a silent sex object.
