GTA 4 is the perfect example of how metacritic is a broken system. It is rated as the best game ever, however, everyone knows that this is simply not true. GTA SA was far superior overall. Plus GTA 4 story was complete crap which instant makes it not the best game ever

I got gta4 day 1 and still have not beaten it yet
I just can't fave my self to do it
I think it's sucks.....
ViceCity was by far my favorite
I have high hopes for 5

GTA4 introduced online mp to the gta series(on consoles) and also it was at the beggining of this gen , they didnt have much experience. I have a feeling this site hates gta4 because the ps3 version was inferior...

Or GTA IV was boring, character movement was shit, driving sucked, gunplay was terrible and Niko was a total whiner the whole time.

Bad things tend to happen when developers pander to the realism fags, we get terrible games like GTA IV.

Metacritic is broken because you don't agree with GTA IV's metascore? That's funny, because I completely agree with GTA IV's metascore and it is still my favorite game of this gen (and better than San Andreas). See, these are called opinions. A review shows you the reviewer's opinion on the game. Metacritic takes everyone's opinions, and averages them into one score. GTA IV is clearly loved by critics and that is why it sits above everyone else with a 98.

what is an opinion ?
ive never heard of this..
please.. explain more

at the time gta iv was the best game ive ever played. However the longevity wasn't as good or.. long as previous gta's.But the first impressions was much better than the previous gta's because of the graphics and cinematics.

so they need close to 2.5 mil copies to sell to break even...

DJDeez3884d ago

... of which they have blown by that in pre-orders alone!!

50 square miles, Just Cause 2 still has it beat with 400 square miles. Still very impressive considering the amount of detail and activity in GTA V. Just Cause 2 was mostly empty and lonely.

YodaCracker3884d ago

50 square miles sounds a bit high for GTA V, but nevertheless, the entire world is handcrafted. Every storefront is unique, every building is meticulously designed, the detail is off the charts even down to the cracks in the sidewalk and the graffiti covering the walls. I dare say there will be more unique detail in one block of GTA V's Los Santos than in the entirety of JC2's gigantic island map. That was one big copy-and-paste job.

I feel like Just Cause 2 was too big for it's own good. It took what seemed like forever to get from one point to another. It was fun for a little bit to just mess around, but it nothing on GTA: SA.

"I’m not a game developer so I don’t know how it’s so expensive to make a video game. Surely it’s just a bunch of people working on a computer right? Well GTA V’s rumoured budget is an eye-watering $137 million."

Most people don't factor labor when thinking about the cost to make/produce things. If you assume GTA V was put into production immediately after GTA IV and assume 200 people worked on GTA V (150 people worked on GTA IV) at an average salary of $60,000/yr (average game developer salary was $81k in 2012 and I'm sure not everyone on staff makes this much), that's $60,000,000 going towards labor to produce the game alone.

When you factor in marketing, distribution, servers, etc. then yes, you're getting into the $100 million range to produce GTA V.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing6923h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos21h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8520h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius10h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
