10 Upcoming Shooters That Could Destroy Call Of Duty

WC - With every year comes yet another Call of Duty game, and year upon year, there’s an assumption among many gamers – myself included – that the franchise’s continual smashing of sales records will eventually grind to a halt.

After all, for as much as Activision likes to proclaim that they innovate their immensely popular FPS franchise, there’s only so much that can be done under that framework without substantially changing things up, at which point they may well alienate much of their core fanbase.

Could but they won't.

Devs PLEASE stop trying to copy COD, you are not going to steal that crowd away, they don't want to play something LIKE COD, they want to play COD.

Also because COD'S MP is so popular don't tack MP to you game thinking it's going to be as popular.

Please for the love of GOD don't carry that dumb @ss mentality into Next Gen.

Agreed. To be honest the only games with a chance of outselling COD are perhaps BF4 and Destiny as they are multiplatform. Unfortunately great exclusives such as Titanfall and Killzone will most probably sell less due to the single console market they are targeting.

I don't think BF4 will, but I expect Destiny to outsell CoD.

Skizelli3877d ago

I want to believe in Titanfall. The gameplay looks amazing, but with no single player campaign to fall back on, a lot is riding on the game's maps and game types.

Sooner or later Call of Duty will start losing popularity, it's bound to happen. Only a matter of time. With games like Titanfall, Killzone, & Destiny, I see no reason to be excited for Call of Duty anymore.

GarrusVakarian3877d ago (Edited 3877d ago )

I can tell its starting to happen already, there's not as much hype around Ghosts as there has been with previous games. BF3 gave some good competition, i think BF4 will continue to steal some of CoD's limelight.

The only thing CoD needs to do to kill itself is keep being the same every year, eventually it will get stale for the majority, even though it already has for alot of us.

There is also less advertising for it from Activision and they promote it less at the moment.

Agreed 100%.

Devs need to not be afraid to try something fresh and new and stop chasing COD and it's users, you make something amazing that everyone wants to play and they will come to you.

Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash

Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.

They call that a crack head! Thats what this is really about, its an addiction. People who dont smoke cigarettes look and laugh at the addicts that spend $8-$10 a pack, but they cant help themselves, they are addicted. That same analogy applies perfectly to the whole MT industry. Only an addict that was not thinking clearly would spend this kind of money on something so frivolous. A round of multiplayer provides the same high a person gets from scratching a lotto ticket, or putting money on a sports bet. MT in general need to really be regulated because you have a generation of kids becoming adults who grew up only knowing the MT era of gaming. Its normal to them and they will in turn teach their kids the same by just being a gaming parent and getting their kids involved with them in gaming. Thats why no matter how ridiculous the headlines keep getting out of the MT industry, it never seems to fade or go away.

I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.
