No, You Won't Need PlayStation Plus For Remote Play

"It is currently spreading around the web that a PS+ subscription will be required in order for you to make use of the PS4 and Vita’s Remote Play features, which seems like a massive drawback since it’s such a core feature.

That is not the case however..."

There are no bad news for PS4, deal with it :D

allformats3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

I have never seen one company so on point and on message and the other so out of touch and running around screaming trash like a wild chicken without a head.

The first company is Sony. You know the next company's name: Microsoft.

ZodTheRipper3886d ago

That's the funny part. You can look at the front page right now and notice several negative articles about Xbox but none about PS4. And it's like that for months now.

MysticStrummer3886d ago

@zod - MS fans claim that's N4G's bias at work, but MS has given haters plenty of ammo just like Sony did at the beginning of last generation.

cleft53886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

This is exactly why I am buying a PS4. Anyone can deliver a false message and hold off on saying anything until a person buys their product.

The sign of a great company is information up front and all of what is said is backed up by actions that say, "yes, we understand what our consumers want and we will provide that service for you without any strings attached."

jimmywolf3886d ago

@zod18

Sony already had it bad press with ps3, it had a lot issues even Thu i love my ps3. the ps4 was them learning from that.

X box one is Microsoft been cocky from Sony stumble, an underestimated their competition.

Thu it a long way away, ps5 an x box next will both be strong systems, that push the bounds as lower cost an better technology happen every year.

even Thu their pessimism about this gen, remember this is next gen from ps3 an 360 not next gen PC. an am fine with that an happy with what we get.

Sony really knows not only how to create a console, but also how to deliver it to its consumers.

Hey Microsoft, you paying attention and taking some notes? Take a break from deleting disparaging comments from your Youtube videos and buying an audience for your next conference and try to learn something.

Kingthrash3603886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

the only bad news is what xbots are saying....they say indes are bad..O_o. according to them im love bad things...rime is my top want right now..im hooked on spelunkie, I praise journey, I almost shed a tear for walking dead, had a wonderful time killing many in hotline miami, and was in awe at the art style in limbo......smh people kill me when thet xall themselves gamers but wanna say indies are trash....smh

dredgewalker3885d ago

People keep forgetting that most of the best devs in the business were once indie devs.

Good job Sony maybe you can revive vita

Sell some more buildings

And make a plethora of Indies lol

"It is currently spreading around the web"
Thanks to PSLS, of course. They love them some flashy fake headlines.

CGI-Quality3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

@ Addictive: Help us understand what there is to be in denial about. One has enjoyed, as mentioned, a tidal wave of positive news. The other, has stumbled more than I've ever seen any company stumble in this industry.

Hint: surely there's denial, but it stems from the source that claimed it.

JoGam3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

Ok, so if you need Playstion Plus to use Remote Play it would only be required for online games that has online remote play interactions from a PS4 game. Remote play is free. Keep in mind, PS3 and Vita online will remain free. Only PS4 multiplayer requires Plus unless its a Free to Play game.

JoGam3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

To clarify....Take Battlefield 4, if it had the ability to use the Vita as a map in multiplayer through remote play (Not Confirmed, just an example) you will need Playstation Plus because of BF4 multiplayer, not for remote play. Remote play is free.

Whos the moron who started this??

The only bad news for the PS4 is we gotta wait another 2 months before we can get our hands on it :(.

AceBlazer133886d ago

Some false rumor an idiot made up(probably a hater).

AngelicIceDiamond3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

Name 5 bad X1 article that recently came out in the past 24 hours?

Let me name some positives for you

8 controller support confirmed
Halo 2014 is Halo 5
Cloud power tech strikes again http://gamingbolt.com/kille...

Btw opinion pieces saying Xbox is doomed and PS4 will flourish isn't news just to be clear.

Let me get you started. X1 won't support external Drives.

G20WLY3886d ago

That has NOTHING to do with this article OR the post you're replying to. :/

Bubbled Down -Off Topic

It's a good thing that these sorts of features aren't behind a pay wall. It would be madness if that were to be the case.

Biggest3886d ago

You linked an article stating that the cloud will be used for data storage and review. That isn't "cloud power tech". That's simple book keeping.

XabiDaChosenOne3886d ago

So you are getting excited because Microsoft titled the 5th installment of the main Halo games Halo 5? I need a break from the Internet.

AngelicIceDiamond3886d ago

@Kobe I didn't say anything about being excited about it. I'm just making a point.

Halo is just being milked, and has been since 2009.

PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher

With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?

thorstein3d ago

No, and they already solved any need with the overlay that's coming.

Vits3d ago

Unless they are trying to kill their recently created PC business, I would advise against opening a dedicated PC store. It's an extremely hard endeavor, and people, in general, are very comfortable with Steam. Even Epic, with their billions of dollars invested, is still struggling to find a foothold, and they have Fortnite.

just_looken2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Money is one thing security is another but again millions have 0 knowledge past 2020.

Epic store for years struggled with a shopping cart/account theft/credit card theft

Rockstar launcher/store to this day over 5 years later still has horrific user interface security flaws lost account's and stolen CC

Then you got that activision need phone number oh we lost it launcher

The crown jewel is the ea launcher/store ea app 3 yrs old still has hundreds of threads were people lost games/accounts/game access or just straight up crashes.

Edit" Oh ubi launcher were you buy a game that may or may not be there again or work and the launcher 5yrs old still has no 4K support if you launch it on a 4k screen there is a high chance it will just crash.

ocelot072d ago

Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming.

It's just a known fact. The PC gaming community prefer Steam and Steam alone. They don't like different launchers. I personally don't mind them. But majority just stick with steam. Hence why EA and Ubisoft went back to on releasing on steam and why Microsoft release games on steam as people hated buying from the windows store.

The only other launchers that I imagine are doing ok is GOG due to being drm free and epic games due to the free games every week. Sony shouldn't release any sort of pc launcher n

Nitrowolf22d ago (Edited 2d ago )

It literally says in the OP that PC gamers don't like multiple launchers lol. It even mentions Steam being the go to for gamers

Tacoboto2d ago

Title: "PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher"

N4G: "Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming"

When you don't even read the headline...

ocelot072d ago

I read it and had a brain fart. As read the title then this "With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?"

So I hold my hands up on that mistake. Rest of my comment still stands.

Giblet_Head2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Steam and GOG are highly preferred because of the rich feature set. Ubisoft, Rockstar, EA, Epic etc have all set a precedent over the years for customers to instinctively expect individual publisher launchers to be so extremely half-assed that the majority simply don't want to bother dealing with what is almost an inevitable disappointment by comparison to Steam or GOG. Those publishers and their inaction or general disinterest to improve have effectively ruined any future adoption to be taken seriously.

Einhander19722d ago (Edited 2d ago )

This is just another ridiculous double standard article.

It's like how Microsoft can spend 20 years of making nothing but gaas and live service style games to sell microtransactions, dlc and subscriptions and get praise for doing it, but if Sony wants to make a single game like that every website under the sun is writing articles saying how Sony is anti-consumer or whatever.

derek2d ago

Yep, huge double standard look at the tortured reaction to the ps5pro, websites hyperventilating like Sony is forcing people to buy it.

just_looken2d ago

Wait my xbox from 2004 has avengers gaas on it? wow your so smart

m$ Gaas started with the other companies like sony

Gamepass yes they are deep into that but its still a huge money saver sense you do not own your games then get a service like that.

Now there pc xbox launcher that is trash for years now

Is Driver (PS1) Still Worth Playing in 2024?

The driving holds up, most of everything else does not.

PrimeVinister10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

@Shane Kim

Well, I mean the driving physics hold up. The draw distance, police AI, visuals in general etc do not

Cacabunga10d ago

One of my all time favorites on PS1. I spent a summer vacation playing this was so good

isarai10d ago

Sadly youd be hard pressed to find any driving game with better physics these days. But the draw distance really kills it for me

PrimeVinister10d ago

The physics hold up ridiculously well. And the draw distance is a real hurdle at first.

__y2jb10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Nonsense. The physics in any modern game or any 360 game is light years beyond Driver.

Dandizzle10d ago

This game is hard, you will fail and quit

PrimeVinister10d ago

But you will get there eventually... maybe

MatrixxGT10d ago

All in the first two minutes.

jznrpg10d ago

Stop with is it worth it articles. If you want to play a game play the damn game!

anast10d ago

I loved this game awhile back.

Barlos10d ago

Yeah but is it worth reading pointless articles?

__y2jb10d ago

It wasn’t worth playing in the 90’s.

Espangerish10d ago

My thoughts exactly. I bought it at release for full price and got frustrated and bored with it very quickly.

Terry_B12d ago

Well..you can play it completely offline at least ^^

PrimeVinister12d ago

Something we really miss, just turning on the console and having the game start without signing into stuff

Terry_B12d ago

Fully agreed. That and Splitscreen Modes for Racing games.

PrimeVinister12d ago

@Terry_B I miss having people to splitscreen with, but I can't blame anyone for that :-(

Cacabunga12d ago

Not too late.. we can still change that.

PrimeVinister12d ago

@Cacabunga I will let you in, see ya soon compadre :-P

Good news is that Sony released a final update to Gran Turismo Sport to allow it to function offline. Expecting the same for GT7 at some point in the future.

PrimeVinister12d ago

That is great news, I really liked Sport even if many others did not :-/

Chocoburger12d ago

I'm not big into sim racing, but I got sucked into the hype for this one from magazines back then. I just played arcade mode and that was enough for me to feel like I got my money's worth.

Yeah, it's definitely worth playing today. GT 2 has a few interesting fan made graphical mods when played on an emulator as well.

PrimeVinister12d ago

The arcade mode is underrated, it's a great alternative mode and you can even unlock GT HiFi with it.

Fonsecap12d ago

Cars back then had much more personality then those we see today. Modern cars all about the led lights and the tablet size screens and they all seem alike, back then they could be simpler in design but had tons more personality.

PrimeVinister12d ago

That is something a few people have pointed out - that cars all look the same now. I have to agree that a lot of new vehicles lack personality.

fsfsxii12d ago

You guys are so anti-fun its depressing, like who tf cares about personality of objects like wtf? Just learn to enjoy stuff as is.

PrimeVinister12d ago

It's hardly anti-fun to remark that some objects look nicer than others.

And everyone has their favourite era of cars, I sincerely doubt many will pick the 2020s a few decades from now.

Fonsecap12d ago

Dude, like wft cares about personality of objects? What about art? Paintings are objects and they're considered good or bad if they show or lack personality so I ask, wtf are you talking about? Cars are also considered pieces of art, vintage cars, classic cars, classic bikes and so on. Artists are appreciated by the objects they craft, blacksmiths, painters, engineers, designers, so wtf cares about personality of objects indeed... ( Sorry for my English, it's not my native language)

MrBaskerville11d ago

Talking about cars is fun if you are a car enthusiast. Just saying.

ApocalypseShadow12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

That Corvette Stingray to this day is one of the most ferocious whips ever driven. Overpowered against other cars yes. But to drive it and be that close to losing control, but being in command around those curves, just can't be duplicated.

HiFi mode is also something I miss. There should be a mode in today's GT where it's Mano o Mano and the detail and resolution jump full throttle. In today's games, Max Ray Tracing and lighting and textures to make it look even more real..

PrimeVinister12d ago

A modern HiFi mode would be really cool! It would be really interesting to see how real they could go by stripping it all way back.

And Stingray is a solid choice 👌

TiredGamer12d ago

HiFi mode in GT1 was only a stripped down 60 fps mode for one track. Should have been called "Performance Mode" or "High Frame Rate" mode.

PrimeVinister12d ago

@TiredGamer it was only three tracks, but it was still cool

Petebloodyonion12d ago

Not according to Former Playstation president Jim Ryan for he told Time that he doesn't see why anyone would play old games given the advancements in fidelity achieved today.

PrimeVinister12d ago

I don't agree with him, but he had a few good points.
