Titanfall hands-on - PCGamesN

PCGamesN: The best bit of Titanfall is losing.

The game doesn’t just end, you see. Instead, you have to flee to an evac point in the corner of the map without getting killed by the winners. Your team get bonus experience for every member that makes it to safety, and the opposition get experience for every one of you they can kill.

What makes it so good is that every player has a jetpack-powered double jump and can wallrun. When the game ends your whole team turns around and begins leaping into the air, looking to get out of the fight they were eager to dive into a moment before. Players are springing through windows, running along walls, and generally making like Mirror’s Edge. It’s a wicked sight to behold.

But there’s so much else to love about Titanfall.

I am super excited for this game. It looks like a lot of fun and I love the sic-fi setting and the interplay between the Titans and the Pilots.

Also, for those stating that the game is going to not sell well on the Xbox One and backing up this claim by referencing the current low pre-order numbers for the game, you must realize that the game does not have a release date yet and is coming out in quite a while. One cannot rely on pre-order numbers when a game is not due to be released for quite a while and does not even have a set release date yet.

What will hurt it on the X1 has nothing to do with it not being great or potentially ending up on the PS4. It's that it can be played on the 360 as well. Of course it won't look as good, but it will play the same and without spending $500. Microsoft should have made the deal X1 only to move more X1 units.

Looks like a blast for sure. But I will be trying it on the 360. It'll be the uglier brother, but should play the same, which is what makes this game a must have for me. It looks fun. :)

This is the second first page titanfall thread that you've said the exact same comment. Literally copy and paste. Troll much?

By the way, if there ever is a port to PS4 it won't look any better than the Xbox One version :P

Here comes another game that will take most of my rare to come by free time for my self. Damn!

Bolts3887d ago

Thank god for my gaming PC. Between that and the PS4 I have it all.

Sayai jin3887d ago

Let me get this straight, so between your PC and PS4 you have it all? Are you referring to games or games that only you want to play? I did not know that the PS4 and PC had all the games.

Bolts3886d ago

Basically all the games that one would have time to play and those two platforms covers it all. I would be hard pressed to come up with a title that I care about which isn't covered by the PC and PS4.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."

Physical media. Unfortunately the way games are going these days game servers will eventually be shut down and you can stare at the menu and wish you could play the game again.

littletad872d ago

This is why reading is so important. Nothing to do with digital or physical media. The game, which is online only, is being delisted because of DDOS and other hacker attacks. The case got so bad that only six players in the world log on. For PC. Rather than fix it, they continued to sell the game, broken as it is, and only now just decided to call it quits. But please, go on thinking what you will.

Ethereal870d ago

I'm aware of the DDOS attacks and that this case is not typical. This game would eventually have it's servers shutdown regardless of the current situation so that is a moot point. My comment was in a general sense and that there are instances in which games can be preserved physically when official support ends.

Let's recap your first sentence. I said, "the way GAMES are going these days" indicating a broader stroke than just this game. I agree, reading IS important. I was simply stating the obvious downsides of the digital marketplaces and online only trends in games these days. I could even make the argument that the online only offering which has allowed hacker manipulation has impacted the preservation of this great game. My comment is valid in the general sense and thank you for your permission to continue to think what I will.
