That's why i'm going to wait untill PS4 until I properly get into it. Last time I played on PC I no fucking idea what was what. Why you couldnt get into tanks, why some people had quad bikes etc.

I'm hoping they'll add some accessibility for the console version. This is going to be so much fun.

Let me give you a warning though. If your playing on a AMD processor that depends on multiple threads your machine won't actually play as well as an Intel PC would. Right now SOE is making it for the PS4 and admitted to having problems because there engine isn't good at being multi-threaded but since they are breaking that thread up for the PS4 AMD players will get a big boast because they are going to re-implement it as multi-threaded.

Thanks for that article, I'am REALLY skeptical at SOE at making such a bold claim as saying PS2 will look/perform as good as running on a high-end gaming desktop. as far as I know they, haven't even shown any beta or alfa footage running off PS4's dev kits yet. Now that I've seen this article, It just raised my skepticism even higher.

Didn't even realize the intel's single thread code against amd's multi-threaded code. I belive allot of specific pc ports may struggle on next-gen consoles because of this.

Especially when they say they are targeting visuals on par with a high end PC. It doesn't mean the final product will be on par with the high end PC though. Goal isn't equal to reality.

I'm confused with how Planetside 2 is having no problems on PS4, yet BF4 and EA are.

Cause, SCALE, Scope, Size-wise, Planetside 2 is MASSIVE, the only thing that causes discrepancies involving the difference with BF4 and this is, destructible environments, that mostly is it, so why such horribly optimization issues with EA?!

It is as you said and what a lot of us have been saying.

A game like PS2 which struggled to run well even on high end PCS for a while will be able to run relatively easily on PS4 due to continued optimization.

They said they were working to fix it up and I guess they were just waiting for the right time :]

Never been a PC gamer,but i know that for 4K$ i can make a PC that surpass any gaming machine,but how many games use this power 4-5?why should i waste my money on something that hardly supported and in few months will become old and cheaper.
honestly my favorite game this gen is Red dead redemption it's not even released on PC and most of the other games being ports from 2005-6 consoles technology

The STEAM PROGRAM slow down the game a bit so you get worse fps (its very cpu heavy still)

So download the client instead, much better.
I am not fooling you - im an ps1 vet (8 yers) and played ps2 sence early beta.

I've seen some of those battles. There are HUNDREDS of people all going at at once. Its insane. The map is like miles wide and you can fight in the air or on the ground, all on one board. Its gets batshit crazy.

In an article after E3 an DICE developer said they was aiming for 60fps and 1080p on the PS4...For some reason they have backed track on this statement.Now with this news of PS2 will look like its on an High End PC on the PS4...Wil bring more questions towards DICE if they cant/won't achieve 60fps and 1080p with BF4 on PS4...

ea said that the gameplay (the one you referenced in your commnet that says it looks like "PS2") was running on a pre-alpha dev kit.....

this means that the game itself was still being made when they showed that gameplay. they have confirmed that BF4 will be running at a higher resolution on both PS4 and X1. and that they will both have the same resolution.

the best thing is, you still do not need playstation+ to play these online multi-player games on the PS4, they are still free for people to play without the need to have playstation+. So even though, multi-player for games on PS4 will be plenty, there is games for PS4 gamer's that are still free online play, and those
game's i can say in my opinion look pretty d@mn good for a free to play game, and play pretty well. esp. planet side 2.

well the developer's did say the PS4 development for this game will mainly have the setting's set to Ultra, and since BOTH THE CPU & GPU are direct on die, along with the ability to use unified system ram, and the fact that to I/O being that there is a 3rd connect Bus/ at over 20GB/sec without needing to burden the main throughput Bus. that 176GB/sec will or should be ready to enable performance to maintain discrete stability.

The PS4 design, from a strict gaming performance level will be able to keep up with PC's High end required ultra setting Applications from say 2 to 3 years ago on developed PC software games, if they are coded to PS4 in direct to metal optimised code.

So planet side 2 should run very smooth and stable frame rates even in heavy Rendering as long as the code is clean.

I played PS2 back when I had a GTX 570 in my gaming rig (GTX 770 now). I managed to play it on max settings around 50fps normally, with extreme fire fights going down to around 35fps. Average was around 45. Now the GTX 570's performance output is ~1.5 TFLOPs, compared to the 1.84 TFLOPs of the PS4's GPU, so one would assume that this statement is true. But for an MMO like PS2, CPU is just as important as the GPU. I ran it with a OC'd i7-2600k @4.2GHz. so the PS4 CPU "might" be the bottleneck. BUT, from the interview with the devs, they are optimising the game well for the PS4, so it might actually run like a high end PC version in the end.

I would also agree to be reserved in hype also, but in this case the developer's showed off DCU, on the PS3 and DCU on the PS4 and there is a stark contrast of how much better the DC Universe will look on the PS4. because by the developer's own account the porting from the PC to the PS4 is pretty much in Parity with all assets being conducive to being pretty much near the same.

Many games made even today, still do not put their games direct to metal, where Consoles are. the fact that both the xboxone and the PS4 have such robust hardware, yes even though they cannot outperform PC's from say 2 to 3 years ago, that still does not take away from the fact that by design these new system will be able to handle games that were develped 2 to 3 years ago for the PC just fine and handle them on high setting's this new generation of hardware is not going to be like it was for console hardware vs what you can expect from games for consoles and those for PC's this new generation is pretty much on a whole other level.

there is a reason why developer's like carmack were talking so + about this new generation of console machines. these console's are not meant to be able to keep up with such a machine with something like an Nvidia Tesla , and thinking people acting like they are is, not really an issue, because im pretty sure no one really even thinks they could. No what they are really talking about is not one game out there for that matter is even taking advantage of such hardware anyway!

because there is so much variation, that is out there just trying to take advantage of such hardware would make the cost of your development sky rocket for such a low number of gamer's that have such hardware in their PC Systems anyway.

There is enough ummph in these new machines that they would be able to handle games like this just fine.

It would be one thing is the game was designed direct to metal for the PC and you were targeting say a sli get up or something like that, but in this case its not.

Just because the developers are saying they are putting the game to ultra setting's does not mean they are stretching the truth or something like that, when the game they are talking about is not out of the question to be able to be ran on such hardware as the PS4 and run very well.
