This game looks really interesting. I never played the first two, but I'll give this one a go. I'm torn between getting it for PS4 or XB1 though. Same for The Witcher 3.

Anyway, I love me a nice, open world. And it has a different style of combat, so that's appreciated. I'll keep my eye on this.

Since they announced Dragon Age Keep you don't need to play the first two games but I recommend you do.

With the Keep you can create your own game choices from the first 2 games without playing them.

Graphics are gorgeous because of DICE's Frostbite 3 but RPG's are not about graphics ...so I'm not yet sold after the disaster they called Dragon Age 2.

Dragon Age 2 doesn't make your point though because Dragon Age 2 didn't have very good graphics, while Origins was a WAY better RPG and just a better game in general in almost every way except one, and Origin also looked way better to boot.

DA2 could have been almost as good as Origins if it didn't loose so much of what made Origins great like making your own character, and not even being able to put all the armor you've been collecting on your party members........basics of the genre. Not to mention the bland, reused 50 times environments.

It comes down to this. Origins took 5 years to make, and it wasn't even "ground-up" in that BioWare used their existing engine. While DA2 was indeed ground-up, brand new engine created.....yet it only took 1.5 years to make. DA2 was unfortunately a cash-in, rush-job, which was not made with real passion or care the way Origins so clearly was.

^ I would've seen DA2 as tolerable if it didn't recycle dungeons constantly and insisted on avoiding doing anything interesting with the franchise and storyline. That ending had "we were forced to fit this in at the last second" written all over it. The game really was a rushed mess.

I'll be honest. I didn't care much for the combat in either Origins or DA2. Origins is called tactical, but I found the combat in it to be boring and actually really simple. DA2 was worse, but because the combat was hard to manage due to the hyper-speed. But the slow pacing to fighting itself didn't lend anything extra to Origins' simple policy on positioning, homogenized enemy types, and clumsy hit-detection. The combat just needs to be slow enough so you can manage it and see attacks coming.

Inquisition actually has diverse and distinct enemy types (who co-operate) that require different reactions, sets like cover from dragons and destructable pillars, and a focus on resource management this time around. That sounds more tactical and promising to me. And they're taking their time, and that gives me hope. We'll see how it turns out.

Loved Dragon Age Origins, didn't care for Dragon Age 2 very much, but inquisition has my attention.

This is running on the frostbite engine correct?

Endless_X thanks for confirming the engine.

Endless_X3883d ago (Edited 3883d ago )

Yes, Frostbite 3.

Endless_X3882d ago

I included a second video in which they showed tactical view.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Retro Review – A Nostalgic Leap Short Of Legendary

Dragon Age: Inquisition, developed by BioWare, is the third installment in the cherished Dragon Age series. It represents a major evolution from its predecessor, Dragon Age II, incorporating elements that were well-loved in the original Dragon Age: Origins but also introducing new features that stand on their own. While Inquisition improves upon Dragon Age II in many respects, it falls short of the exceptional standards set by Origins.

The quality of these free games has been awesome. Before anyone says they are not free I was already giving Amazon $6 a month for prime shipping and video this isn't why I pay for my subscription

Teflon02902d ago

Still technically paying for it, even if it wasn't your intent. They've been giving out games with Twitch prime, they just changed the name. It's the same sub as that was. If you weren't aware, great. But you're paying for it.

That being said, I don't personally care. For me as long as you're willing to pay that for 1 service and get more. I personally take it as free. Like prime video, music though the prime version is trash, and all the Twitch benefits are all free to me because I didn't care about those when I got it. Just comes with it.

Only noted because that's technically wrong as a defense to that argument, whether I'm on yourside with the initial statement lol

mkis007902d ago

It's free to anyone who has already been paying. IDK why people need to split hairs.

TinkerNation902d ago

How does Prime Gaming work? Do you keep the games, or is it only as long as you have Prime?

Germaximus902d ago

lol Nice distraction from how they're now charging people to increase viewership. It's "just an option." /wink lol
