Rumor: Ace Combat 6 Flying to PS3 In 2008?

This rumor comes from Playstation 3 magazine PSM3. PSM3 is part on online gaming website CVG.

In their feature "2008 year of the ps3" I noticed something interesting.

Among the games listed one poped out the most, Ace Combat 6 with this written below:

"Japan's favourite dogfighting series returns with a new made-up war, a brace of superweapons, online co-op and a custom controller for the superfans."

Could this be a miss print even though there is a picture and writting to go with it or do they know something that we don't and that Namco will be annoucing this for the PS3 soon.

I personally hope it follows Ridge Racer style where 360 gets Ridge Racer 6 and PS3 gets Ridge Racer 7. I played AC6 on the 360 and while the gameplay was fun, I didn't like the story that much.

Though this was mentioned last year that Ace Combat 6 was a timed exclusive, it should be no surprise that the Playstation 3 gets another Xbox 360 hand me down.

With the exception of Devil May Cry 4,none of those games have been released and they will be released at the same time as Xbox 360. They certainly can't be handed down if they are released as the same time. However if you are referring to the franchises starting life on a Playstation system, you are only halfway right. Because most of you Playstation fans aren't real gamers and have no clue as to the origins of the games made popular by Playstation. I'll educate you. Grand Theft Auto started life on the PC and Not Playstation. Did you think that GTAIII was the first one? Grand Theft Auto Part one and Two were later ported to Dreamcast and Playstation. Resident Evil has always been a multi platform game. It was also released on Sega Saturn and PC. Tomb Raider was also Multi platform but was made popular by Playstation. Metal Gear started life on a computer released in Japan called MSX2 home computer. It was later Ported to the NES. Final Fantasy started Life on the NES. Many of you Playstation Fans are under the illusion that Sony brought you all those franchises you enjoy but the truth is that most of the games you love on your Playstation were brought to you by Third party supporters such as Konami, Namco or Capcom. Had another system been popular during that time frame, those games would have still been released but on another system.

When I refer to the Playstation 3 getting Xbox 360 Hand Me Downs, I'm talking about games (not Franchises)that have already been released on Xbox 360, that are well past their financial viability, after months or years are now being ported or handed down to Playstation 3.

However you do have a valid argument if you want to say that franchises are being handed down to Xbox 360. Watch your words because a large percentage of the Franchises made popular on Playstation actually started life during the PC or the 8 and 16-bit era.

Pretty obvious. AC6 sales weren't that great to begin with, much like Eternal Sonata/Trusty Bell. I just hope they make Ace Combat 7 with a much more sci-fi story rather than port AC6. PS3 owners aren't known for liking one year old ports. AC6 had great gameplay and some pretty nice visuals, but I didn't really like the story in the game. But in all honesty, while an AC is coming to the PS3, I believe this is a typo on PSM3's part.

It is called Cellius. And technically, Ken Kutaragi works for both Namco and Sony. They were supposed to show off what they were doing this year... Also, as a side note, I find it interesting that even though Bandai Namco and Sony are joint venturing this company, last year, Bandai Namco made two of their lead franchises (Ace Combat and Katamari) 360 exclusive. Seems to kind of conflict with the mission statement of Cellius("To take away market share of games from Microsoft and Nintendo"). Really, really odd IMO.

We seen what AC6 did for the xbox360 in Japan for the first couple of weeks. When this Comes out for the PS3 it's going to move systems for month to come. Got to say the Japanese love their AC a lot.

Quite a few 360 exclusives have gone multiplatform lately, and I'll probably try to check this one out since I loved Ace Combat 4. Hopefully they improve the graphics though. I saw the demo kiosk for this game, and it while the clouds and atmosphere looked great, the city still reminded me of the PS2 series. Hopefully they do what they did with Lost Planet and actually upgrade some of the geometry.

Yes, motion controller could work. I just got Blazing Angels 2 recently, and it works well there (not so much in the first version). The other title with good motion flight control is Lair, but we know how that ended. I don't like it in Warhawk, but it should work great with AceCombat. I'd be curious how that arcade stick would work, which was bundled with the 360 version, once.

On the other hand, tekken 6 is PS3 exclusive.

It's not a loss for Xbox really, but since it's lost so damn much in the past year, it's devastating overall. Basically a PC which everyone has and can upgrade cheap, and a PS3, is all you need to play Xbox 360 'exclusives' and PS3 true exclusives.

I am a huge AC fan and i own every AC game except Air Combat 1 and Ace combat3 and ofcourse AC6.
I tried the demo on my 360 before i sold it and it felt like AC had lost its soul ='( cry. And the 360 controller wasnt good at all for the game.
I hope they fix the problems and hope they make the story better ,or atleast improve on its presentation.
Might pick this up.
