Is Now the Right Time to Buy a Wii U?

GotGame: As the old saying goes, “there’s no time like the present”, and that may certainly be the case for the struggling Nintendo Wii U, as Nintendo has quite a few AAA titles on the way for the system, as well as an impending price cut.

Not yet for me, I'm still waiting for SSMB and a new Zelda. I probably would have bought it for it's old price if these games were released already ...but I don't mind paying less now ;D

mikeslemonade3889d ago

Nintendo will never get a sale from me as long as I live. After what mess they did with the Wii I'm done with Nintendo.

i bought one for the potential of playing the games you listed but in the mean time i do enjoy some really good wii games on it.

It really does make a difference visually on the regular wii games. Tatsunoko vs capcom....sooooo much better when played through a wii-u.

thezeldadoth3889d ago

theres a lot of games worth playing on it now. super luigi DLC is one of the best side scrollers in years.

ZodTheRipper3889d ago

Yes I'm sure it is. But I've bought a Vita recently and got a huge backlog on my PS3 already so I have everything but time to enjoy all those games :/
But I'm definately getting a WiiU sooner or later, Nintendo games are still something special.

Personally, I'd be hard-pressed to find a right time to buy a WiiU

wiiU is much fun without games . . with an internet connection that is

LOL_WUT3889d ago (Edited 3889d ago )

Really? Without hardly any apps I find that hard to believe. ;)

Edit: Of course I own one why I be so vocal about it. I'll give you TVii but you must be grasping at straws if you mention Google street view. Other than that it has like what 5 other apps? Which btw could be done on a smartphone, tablet or on another console. ;)

iplay1up23889d ago

What are you talking about? Tvii alone is a great app...Google street is freaking amazing and at first I thought it was going to be stupid. Youtube is better on U than PC. There is more then enough to do without even popping a game in. You are always on Wii U threads...You do own one don't you?

BullyMangler3889d ago

smart phone, tablet, diff experience rather a wiiU gamepad duh no equal value horrible comparison.

even though the youtube app sucks for wiiU, is still awesome using youtube browser on the gaming pad oh yea . and things will only get better ha haa

It's the right time to get the Wind Waker bundle, since it is for a limited time.

thomasmiller3889d ago

I agree with this article I think the holiday season will be a great time to get a wii u, all of the updates for the system, have been added, more apps like the artist maker, and more great indie games and virtual console is finally into full swing, and the great games like mario 3d coming out this fall? yes I agree, at 299.99 you get the system and a game, so zelda will probably be the system of choice, over nintendo land bundle, but I see this as a big turning point for nintendo, and a great year for great games, for us nintendo fans!!

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga2d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas2d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

repsahj2d ago

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
