Microsoft Could Be in Trouble, Still No FCC Approval for Xbox One

While Microsoft tries to rebut supply chain and manufacturing issues as results for a delayed Xbox One release, another possible problem has come to light. Where is the FCC Approval for the Xbox One?

Without FCC approval, a manufacturer is not able to market and sell their products in the United States. If the FCC finds any problems with the Xbox One and requests for Microsoft to change or adjust entities within the console itself, there would be a disastrous impact on supply. Needless to say, that if there is a major issue, components may need to be sourced from different manufactures causing further constraints on the supply for the console.

There is nothing wrong with the console, this is a RUMOR site.. do you really think they would of allowed people to play on the X1 if most of it was not completed. They had dozens of consoles available at gamescom that people were fully using. They are obviously still working on making the OS the best it can be. It would not surprise me if Microsft has not even submitted the console yet to get approved. Man these sites really need to stop with this stuff.

jackanderson19853886d ago

just throwing it out there... FCC approval isn't needed for the console to be operated in Europe, so while it could technically fail the FCC approval list they could still launch it in Europe

HammadTheBeast3886d ago

I'm fairly sure they need it to be approved by some board or other for sale in EU regions.

However, they could just manufacture the consoles in poorer countries or China, and then ship them to US/EU once they've been approved, but if the FCC/EU Board finds an error, GG , cause none of the previously manufactured consoles will be able to be sold.

Thehyph3886d ago

@Hammad
They are made in China anyway. You've confused me.

Both Sony and Microsoft have probably been producing their systems before approval. Their respective QA departments need only slap a sticker on the device and it's good to go. FCC approval is really only a registration with the government on how the device communicates. Highly doubt anything would be denied with the amount of R&D in these devices and the standardization of materials and technologies.

That said, Xbox One requires a bit more time than ps4 because Kinect is included in the box, and it has that HDMI in.

I'm not getting an Xbox One, but I wouldn't be worried about whether or not it's passed these regulations or not if I were. They're by no means a rigorous QA.

Lulz_Boat3886d ago

you mean the same X1 at E3??? an nvidia PC?? LOL

the X1 at GC were a PCs with X1 case.

falviousuk3886d ago

And the same xbox one that is going to be at pax prime.

ignore all these people. I never knew so many people on here were MS and SONY shareholders.

Stop worrying about something that hasnt happened yet or complaining about it, and enjoy playing games on your current system and look forward to playing games on the next gen systems when they come.

After all you are supposed to be gamers

Golden_Mud3886d ago

What ? are you just jealous or something ? this is a proof that makes you a fanboy ; http://www.forzacentral.com...

Lulz_Boat3885d ago

ahahhaahahah, look below the first pictures of you OWN LINK, stupid! LOL

YEAH! A PC!! But the look was X1 like.

delusional fan troll.

OrangePowerz3886d ago

FCC is for approving Hardware, they don`t need the OS to be completely finished and fully polished.

CPTN MITCHELL3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

So why are you here if this site is all rumors and false info? And just because they have consoles at gamescom does not equal fcc approval

k2d3886d ago

Yet another xbox 180 waiting to happen.

This is a rushed console launch if I ever saw one.

No FCC approval that we know of. I bet it's already FCC approved. They could keep that private like so many other corps do. All they have to do is pass they don't have to give out that info when.

iamnsuperman3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

I agree but what have they got to hide. Releasing it would distract away from the other, more damaging rumour, that the Xbox One is experiencing manufacturing issues.

maxkoe3886d ago

I thought FCC records were public records?

You can request to see anything you want through the Freedom of Information Act.

Bzone243886d ago

Then go and request it through the Freedom of Information Act before you submit an article saying they are in trouble. You know, like journalists are suppose to do. A little investigating goes a long way.

Kayant3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

Yh according to Albert Penello (MS PR rep) they already have ---> http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

Edit --> iamnsuperman good point and seeing as they have talked about their hardware now we should get the records. It doesn't harm anyone.

Belking3886d ago

yea, like I said they could keep that info private. As long as it passes the FCC it's good. They don't have to release that info.

iamnsuperman3886d ago

I am not calling him a liar but why haven't they released it or why hasn't anyone seen it. One sure fire why to disprove something is to show it.

BitbyDeath3886d ago

Keep reading, it gets juicier.

eg.

I see how all Xbox Supporters here on gaf are saluting/quoting him etc.
But are you really wondering why a lot of people don't believe anything what he/MS says?
Have you listened to all the MS statements in the last couple of months, since the XBone unveil?
Have you heard that "Powah of the Cloud = 40x Xbox360" crap?
Have you seen the "Angry Joe/Major Nelson" incident?
Have you seen the "...Mattrick/buy a Xbox 360" video?
Have you seen that tweet of Aaron Greenberg regarding the XBone delay in europe, minutes prior the Xbone delay announcement?
Have you seen the "deal with it / why would I live there" tweet of the (now ex) MS exployee Adam Orth.
Have you seen the fake Kinect presentation during the XBone/E3 conference, with the clicker/switch inside the pocket/hands of the MS employee, showing us how "fast" Kinect reacts?
Have you seen their "204 GB/s ESRAM bandwith nonsense?
Remember all the DRM stuff a couple of months ago?
Remember the NSA stuff from their main department?
Should I go on with my list?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

Izzy4083886d ago

@iamnsuperman

who gives a damn if they announce it or not, the point is they already passed the FCC before the PS4. Geezus, you can't talk sense into any PS fanboy because they're so wrapped up in their own little bubble.

kewlkat0073886d ago

This is already juicy yet sonyhardcores don't mind.

-All first party PS3 titles had Online pass DRM
-Failed promise of PS3 to PSP remote play.
-Failed promise of PS3 to Vita remote play.
-Still missing the promised digital PSP games on Vita store.
-Still missing the promised PS1 games on Vita store.
-Released an expensive all digital game machine (the PSP Go) and proceed to have large swaths of the games not released digitally.
-Overpriced digital games that are years old that never see price reductions even when their retail counterparts do.
-PSN & Sony has had several serious security leaks, the biggest of which occurred between 17/04/11-19/04-11. Sony shut down PSN on 20/04/11 under the guise of ‘Maintenance’ however it wasn't until 04/05/11(Over a week after the attack) that they released that 77 million registered PlayStation Network accounts, incl credit cards, passwords and other “identifiable personal information” had been compromised.
-For the above mentioned attack, Sony waited two days before even letting the FBI know that PSN Members data was stolen.
-The service outage caused by this attack totaled 24 days, they originally announced service would be restored “within a week”.
-This attack is considered one of the largest security breaches ever, surpassing their previous 2007 PSN leak, which affected 45 million customers. There had and has been further attacks to Sony’s product websites which have affected all registered sony users and customers, incl PSN members.
-Forcefully removed Linux support from PS3, a feature announced before launch sell/promote the original console.
-Consistently implied that they were adding cross game chat to the PS3 even though they knew the hardware was incapable.
-Leaving it to the very last minute to announce that the PSP Vita would require (extremely expensive) proprietary memory car

what else is new..

Eddie201013886d ago

FCC records are public information they cannot keep them secret or hidden from the public.

They probably have not finalized the hardware, meaning clock speeds that can affect heat produced by the system and if the system can maintain that extra heat without causing a fire or electrical problems.

Eddie201013886d ago

@kewlkat007

Half of what you written is false. Need to go back and do some homework.

HammadTheBeast3886d ago

@kewlkat

Nice list, but 40% of it is about PSP/Vita/Go, which is largely irrelevant.

Another 30% is about hacks/intrusions, these I'm just going to give you half credit for, massive companies are hacked on a regular basis, like Amazon, EBay, MS, Facebook countless times, and so on.

It was confirmed long ago that the credit card info wasn't compromised, it was encrypted and unreadable by hackers.

You literally did not make a SINGLE point concerning the Gen ahead of us, which is the one we're talking about.

*Tips hat*

corvusmd3886d ago

@kewlkat you forgot that they like to brag that Gaikai is the fastest most powerful network around, yet it was bought in 2012...is so great it won't release until sometime in 2014 for PS and has yet to be demo'd in ANY capacity...not to mention that on the list of companies with the most actual servers, they aren't even on the top ten, with number 10 having 40,000 and MS having over 1 Mil. Not to mention the fact that XB1's most recent server upgrade costs twice as much as ALL of Gaikai. You'd think Sony would at least address their most obvious weak link if they had something to say...all accounts say it's not even as powerful as CURRENT XBL

XboxFun3886d ago

@KewlKat

Good post KewlKat, unfortunately you won't get a "Well Said" like the others in this post because well, you went against the grain and posted facts against Sony.

Also do we remember "Powah of dah Cell"

Yea, so powerful that it was dropped to make way for an easier more developer friendly console requested from all developers.

How about "Dat Blu-ray"

Which many on here claimed made the games look or play better.

There's ignorance on both sides, but the latest and greatest seems to be this concern about the ??FCC??!

Now all of a sudden everyone wants to see a FCC report from MS. Why? What could you possibly get out of seeing that?

Eddie201013886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

@Kewlkat007
@Xbox Fun
and everyone that agrees with them

Things that are incorrect about your statement.

- Only the first party games with a online multti player have online pass DRM, which is about five or six First party games out of many.

- Don't recall Sony ever saying that there would be PS3 to PSP remote play.

- There is remote play for PS3 to PS Vita but not for all games. It will be mandatory for all games on the PS4.

- Almost all PSP games are available on the PS vita. If you owned one you would know that.

- There are around a hundred or so PS1 games available on PS Vita, same as above if you owned one you would know that. There are also many PS minis available for the PS vita (smaller IOS or Android Type games, casual).

- PSN probably has more sales on digital games than Microsoft does. Both Xbox live and PSN have games that are higher on there services than retail but the publishers make the price on PSN, can't say that is always true on Xbox live.

-As for the security breach, the previous attack(the one that affected 45 million) that you mentioned was on a different company not Sony, the company was TJX (TJMAx and Marshals), I read the wikki for it to. besides the government and many other businesses have had security attacks also, the pentagon being one of them. It was also comfurmed that no credit information was gotten due to it being encrypted on Sony's end. Sony also gave everyone on PSN free identity theft service and free retail games for the outage of a service that they were not charging for to begin with.

Like I said in the previous post half of your information is wrong and the half that is correct doesn't give Microsoft a pass on the many things they have done wrong during the Xbox 360 and into the Xbox One generations.

Xbox fanboys need to try to at least come closer to the facts before giving bad information. there is a lot of you considering how many agreed with @Kewlkat007.

jackanderson19853886d ago

why is it an issue if the console isn't set for release for at least another 66 days minimum? one of the iPads got approval like a week before it launched so not sure why it's an issue for the xbox one?

n4rc3886d ago

Its not..

People don't understand the process but want to win an argument..

maxkoe3886d ago

If there does end up being a problem and they way till the last minute to get approval, it could be disastrous to the launch of the console.

Not saying that it will happen, but think about it... if the FCC says its a no-go for the US until they fix something they have to go fix it before they sell it here. If they wait that long there will practically be no reaction time.

BattleTorn3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

Yes, IF they don't get approved it will be a disaster.

No one is arguing that the Xbox One will do fine without the FFC.

It's just ridiculous to even bother thinking about 'what if' they don't.

ArcRunner review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "‘Live service’ games have been the source of contention of late, fuelled by reports of numerous publishers having at least one in the pipeline. Publishers love the concept as there are countless ways to implement microtransactions while retaining player engagement. Gamers, however, tend to audibly ‘sigh’ whenever a new one is announced – they’re demanding experiences based around daily revisits and grinding. ArcRunner couldn’t be any more different, offering co-op shooting thrills while being remarkably respectful of your time."
