Splinter Cell Blacklist Review | NZGamer

NZGamer: "Despite a few minor flaws here and there, Splinter Cell: Blacklist is a stellar game, especially in a market that’s saturated with with generic shooters. The melding of Conviction’s third person shooter elements and more traditional Splinter Cell gameplay are more than the sum of their parts here. No doubt about it, this is the definitive Splinter Cell experience. I’d even go as far as to say it’s the best stealth game of this console generation. Sorry, Kojima."

this game is okay, I'm halfway through on perfectionist. It's not very hard, shooting lights out and stealth kills are cake. Story is forgettable. Voice acting is fantastic. TLOU has better gameplay and presentation. Hard to go from AAA to Ubisoft garbage

SpecialSauce3892d ago

ubisoft is such a sub par developer

starchild3892d ago (Edited 3892d ago )

You guys' taste in games sucks @ss. TLOU is a great game, but it's overrated. I have enjoyed Splinter Cell Blacklist just as much. It's definitely one of the best games I have played this generation.

And I don't know how it looks on console, but on PC Splinter Cell Blacklist looks absolutely amazing. It is one of the best looking games on PC and easily crushes any game on consoles. There's your presentation for you.

Splinter Cell Blacklist is actually a more challenging game than TLOU, so I don't know why you are complaining about that.

Blacklist is the very best stealth game I have played. It beats out all my favorites from the past like Tenchu Stealth Assassin's, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Thief The Dark Project.

gamedebater3891d ago

your crazy bro, shooting out lights with minimal alert from enemies is retarded. saying "hey come here" to an enemy is even more dumb. LastofUs had way better stealth mechanics, it made more sense in the universe.

pivotplease3892d ago (Edited 3892d ago )

Yeah, I've never been a fan of the gunplay or controls in splinter cell. This one doesn't do anything to stand out but it's not terrible by any means. I'd give it an 8 personally. Still an A-

Edit: just read the guy saying its the best stealth game of the generation. Really now? This game doesn't even touch mgs4 graphically or in terms of mechanics or story and we're talking 2013 vs 2008 here? Come on guy. Must be another one of those stealth game fanboys.

starchild3892d ago

Are you completely blind? MGS4 looks mediocre by today's standards. Blacklist looks much better.

And the stealth mechanics in MGS4 are a joke and don't hold a candle to Blacklist. MGS4 feels a generation behind.

gamedebater3891d ago (Edited 3891d ago )

uhm MGS4 is almost 8 years old? sooooo not sure why u would compare.....

how does splinter cell stealth better from mgs?

splinter cell's ai is so easily predictable.

for 1 if someone sees u most of the time they dont pickup their radio and call in a sweep team (mgs2) ......

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - A Decade in the Shadows

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years

kevco33245d ago

10 years, in fact. He must be, like, 60 by now?

phoenixwing245d ago (Edited 245d ago )

why make an inspired game that takes effort when you can half ass it with multiplayer gaas games and filler filled assassins creed games?

That question up there is the reason you don't see splinter cell games

zarbor244d ago

Yup, another example that Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing.

MIDGETonSTILTS17244d ago

The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.

It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.

The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.

The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?

FYouDad244d ago

Because Ghost is the method fans of the series actually prefer? IMark and execute is never forced upon the player you liiterally never have to bother using it even once throughout Blacklist.

Tody_ZA244d ago

The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.

Rikimaru-00244d ago

Isn't UBI Soft remaking splinter cell.

Sam Fisher Deserves Better

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Ubisoft, we need to chat. Please, have a seat. Thanks. Ok, so I think you know why you’re here. No it has nothing to do with all those game delays, we’ll talk about that later. What? No it’s not about the Skulls & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 falling off the face of the Earth, just listen. We need to talk about Splinter Cell. Don’t give me that look, you know this conversation needs to happen. The way you’ve treated the series, its fans and poor Sam Fisher himself is sad, infuriating and just plain disappointing and it needs to stop."

The Fish!!!

I'd love to see a remastered edition of those games as well as something new. It's about time.

UltraNova1484d ago

MGS is done, at least as we know it so it's now or never Ubi, give Fisher the reboot it deserves. And for Gods sake, don't you dare turn Splinter Cell into another Division/Ghost reckon online abomination instead of a SP focused steath action game!

Psychonaut851484d ago

You know they will though. This is Ubisoft we’re talking about

zachyBROosevelt1484d ago (Edited 1484d ago )

I would love a new splinter cell, maybe even a reboot at this point. Sam Fisher deserves it

Profchaos1484d ago

I think reboot the entire franchise the games were great but every time they try to make him human like a father or something it comes of as unbelievable

hiawa231484d ago

They added damn near every SC game to Xbox1X back compat enahnced list. That is a lot of Sam enhanced and I am loving it, but Sam deserves a new next gen game.
