I'd agree Sony observed the competition coming into this next gen, it's common logic to do so, lest you wish to trip and stumble.

Not quite sure how the hard drive was MS's idea.... infact I'm quite certain the PS3 was the one that allowed you to extract and insert a standard HDD.

Also 'indy was our idea too'. You started to blabber near the end there with this and the above, you choice of wording really does clearly put you fairly strongly in the MS camp. If you really want to play that game; indie was OUR idea (*Raises fist in tribute to PC gamers).

Both are next-gen, try and sugar-coat it all you want, but the only major difference that Xbox has going is that it's boxing a compulsory gimmick. Playstation Eye appears just as capable, and I agree it should be a persons choice on what pieces of hardware accessories they wish to buy. Perhaps this will see less use for the eye in the long-term, but that's hard to predict.

All in all, to run it down; Xbone is aiming to be the one device in your living room that you require (although I believe you still need a cable box). Whereas Sony seems to be going full-on pro-gamer, offering the most powerful machine in terms of raw power, and at the same time showing a strong emphasis on the integration of players through a strong social network.

Now that may not seem as amazing as the box that can do it all (I hope it can wash my dishes and feed my dog too). But then I'd point you towards the remote play feature, which is a pretty significant and smartly implemented feature.

Well I think that concludes my first post, been meaning to make an account for a while. Lets the games begin!

I thought this was for a limited time only. So no you can't do that. Also the IGN guy forgets not everyone will get a console day one and these games are releasing before the launch. Also, on Amazon, it is £35 for a PS3/360 COD Ghosts but £45 for the One/PS4. It is a form of negative PR but the logical (by the IGN guy) is stupid anyway

Actually right now Sony has a good strategy. When Sony launched the PS3 at $600 it showed that gamers have a limited amount of money to blow. So the PS4 at $400, $50 for PS+ if they don't have it yet plus $60 for a game brings it up to $510. Then Indie games are good because people don't have to blow a full blown $60. It lets them save up for the next AAA exclusive.

Now as for the other part of Indie developers they are key in keeping the gaming business going. When a person gets out of school for programming they don't just jump into a big company like Ubisoft. Ubisoft can't train people like that because they have to keep working on the games. It already takes about 3 years to make a AAA game. The indie developers train people and then the indie developer either gets bigger or that person branches off and gets into a big company to make AAA games.

You have no idea how much it would slow down a company to train people instead of continuing to makes games.

Might I mention Naughty Dog was an indie developer.

This should have been flagged as flamebait. It's poorly written and offers no good insight into what happened at Gamescom. The title itself is asking for trolls and rage inducers to prowl around.

So...you're saying that waiting for four years before getting into this upcoming generation is a smart thing? Seriously? How is that "perfect sense" as you put it? By that time, there will be more released games that will be sixty dollars and everyone will be playing what's recent more so than what came out four years ago. Unless a game has a strong multiplayer service, I don't see the logic behind waiting that long. By saving up between six to eight months, you should have enough to get a next-gen system and any couple of games you want.

Plus, the trade for a digital copy is optional for someone who might want to take Battlefield or Call of Duty: Ghosts or Watch Dogs from PS3 to PS4 without paying up another sixty dollars. Depending on how far discounted it is, then it makes sense since you would otherwise be buying the same game twice. Next time, don't rely on IGN as a source for credible information, especially a comment from there.
