OXCGN’s Splinter Cell Blacklist Review- Modern stealth perfected

OXCGN:

"From the bottom of my heart, I can assuredly say that Splinter Cell: Blacklist is the true successor to Chaos Theory, and is not only the best Splinter Cell title ever released, but quite possibly one of the greatest stealth games I’ve ever played."

MYSTERIO3603894d ago (Edited 3894d ago )

This game is great addition in the Sam fisher series and for stealth fans in general. Love it

gaminoz3894d ago

It's good to see the series go back to its roots a bit mroe this time.

Pintheshadows3894d ago

They have taken what made the old titles so good and smashed it into Conviction which, I have to say, I liked. It felt more like it should have been called 'Bourne', but still, a solid game.

With that amalgamation you have all the options you could possibly want and the way it tracks your style of play is really well done.

BadCircuit3894d ago

I feel MGSIV was the first stealth game to really give you options. You could go in guns blazing if you wanted (not best option though), or you cold sneak around in boxes, break necks and kill nobody.

The ability to make a game that gives you options is what makes a classic.

DoctorJones3894d ago (Edited 3894d ago )

Splinter Cell gave you options like that years ago. Thief gave you loads of options as well, I don't see how MGSIV could possibly be the first stealth game to give you options. It's just completely untrue.

Logak3894d ago

@Badcircuit
Don't lie, MGS is a linear and above very easy stealth series. The first true stealth game, one with huge amounts of choice and massive levels are the Thief games. The amount of choice those games give you are outstanding,
If it wasn't for the Thief games back in 1998 (ironically, the same year as MGS), I don't think we would have such great stealth games such as Splinter Cell... Or at least not have them in their current form.

Godem3894d ago

So If I loved Splinter Cell Chaos theory and the stealthy Double Agent missions I will love this?

Pintheshadows3894d ago (Edited 3894d ago )

Yes.

In fact if you loved Chaos Theory you will be very very happy indeed.

Nitrowolf23894d ago

you'll love it, only issue is if u are good at it expect a ton of rage quits

gaminoz3894d ago

I guess it depends on how you play it?

BadCircuit3894d ago

Why rage quits if you are good at it?

Nitrowolf23894d ago

@Bad
not you, the othert team, I just gopt out of 6 sessions, 4/6 rage quits. I shall montage this shit

Benchm4rk3894d ago

Absolutely mate. The extra gadgets you get and the options you have make this the best Splinter cell. So many options to choose from. Get the black edition or 5th freedom edition. You get upgraded weapons and suits available after mission 1 and gives you more gadgets and weapons to choose from and use during the game

gaminoz3894d ago

It's been a long while that a Splinter Cell has grabbed me. I thought maybe its time had gone.

ufo8mycat3894d ago

Splinter cell is back!
It's about god damn time

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - A Decade in the Shadows

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

CoNn3rB246d ago

Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years

kevco33246d ago

10 years, in fact. He must be, like, 60 by now?

phoenixwing246d ago (Edited 246d ago )

why make an inspired game that takes effort when you can half ass it with multiplayer gaas games and filler filled assassins creed games?

That question up there is the reason you don't see splinter cell games

zarbor245d ago

Yup, another example that Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing.

MIDGETonSTILTS17245d ago

The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.

It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.

The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.

The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?

FYouDad245d ago

Because Ghost is the method fans of the series actually prefer? IMark and execute is never forced upon the player you liiterally never have to bother using it even once throughout Blacklist.

Tody_ZA245d ago

The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.

Rikimaru-00245d ago

Isn't UBI Soft remaking splinter cell.

Sam Fisher Deserves Better

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Ubisoft, we need to chat. Please, have a seat. Thanks. Ok, so I think you know why you’re here. No it has nothing to do with all those game delays, we’ll talk about that later. What? No it’s not about the Skulls & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 falling off the face of the Earth, just listen. We need to talk about Splinter Cell. Don’t give me that look, you know this conversation needs to happen. The way you’ve treated the series, its fans and poor Sam Fisher himself is sad, infuriating and just plain disappointing and it needs to stop."

The Fish!!!

I'd love to see a remastered edition of those games as well as something new. It's about time.

UltraNova1485d ago

MGS is done, at least as we know it so it's now or never Ubi, give Fisher the reboot it deserves. And for Gods sake, don't you dare turn Splinter Cell into another Division/Ghost reckon online abomination instead of a SP focused steath action game!

Psychonaut851485d ago

You know they will though. This is Ubisoft we’re talking about

zachyBROosevelt1485d ago (Edited 1485d ago )

I would love a new splinter cell, maybe even a reboot at this point. Sam Fisher deserves it

Profchaos1485d ago

I think reboot the entire franchise the games were great but every time they try to make him human like a father or something it comes of as unbelievable

hiawa231485d ago

They added damn near every SC game to Xbox1X back compat enahnced list. That is a lot of Sam enhanced and I am loving it, but Sam deserves a new next gen game.
