Please let this not be the future of gaming as we know it. I like normal offline single player games. All of this seems like a immersion killer. Please let them keep this crap away from Deus ex.

Persistent online game is another word for sneaky drm.

kreate3897d ago

Agreed...

with new management, I though things would be different.

They makes games nobody ask for, and doesn't make games gamers ask for.

Double post.

This is becoming a new trend to try and subtly sneak in always-online DRM under the guise of "persistent" and "living" worlds. Bull****. Publishers are trying to transform games from a product (that you own) to a service that you rent from them, until their servers see less activity and are invariably turned off.

This is the future of gaming at stake people. What is the point of protesting the Xbox One's always-online DRM if the games are going to do it anyway? Does anybody wonder why "persistence" and "open-world" are suddenly so common this upcoming gen (Destiny, Titanfall, The Division, The Crew, Watch Dogs, etc.)? It is not a coincidence; they are trying to take away your ownership rights and to fleece you.

Time to make our voices heard and to vote with our wallets. Enough is enough.

majiebeast3897d ago

Watchdogs aswell? Well guess im skipping that, im not gonna support such shady practices.

MrSwankSinatra3897d ago

Watch dogs is not always online, ubisoft confirmed that themselves.

rdgneoz33897d ago

You can play watch dogs without an internet connection. Its not an mmo like destiny or the division. Titanfall is online only, there is no single player. If you buy an mmo or online only multiplayer gane, expect to need to be always connected.

KrisButtar3897d ago

I'm glad I'm not the only who was thinking this way. The flood of MMOs or MMO like games was the 1st sign and I'm really not to impressed.

isarai3897d ago

I have a bad feeling about this, please don't fuck up the Sleeping Dogs sequel if they ever make one by turning it into some lame ass MMORPG

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H91d 6h ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

Yuji Naka guilty of insider trading breaks silence to accuse Square Enix producer of lies

Yuji Naka was fined $1.2 million and given a suspended jail sentence for the crime.

I find his comments around how Balan turned out to be very insightful as to why the game is trash. He basically apologises for its existence

solideagle14d ago

can you please give some of us who don't know anything about this, a summary of what happened?

Chocoburger14d ago

Balan was knowingly rushed out by S-E, it had an extremely short dev cycle and was fairly low budget.
Naka was the game's director until near the end when he was fired or perhaps he quit, I forgot.

carrotcakeag13d ago

@Chocoburger Yeah they did fire and replace him which caused him to unload a bunch of rants about the company. The project only existed because of Naka in the first place, he convinced Square to give him one shot at making a platformer. They gave him an opportunity but pulled the rug out before he was done for reasons not explained.

jznrpg17d ago

Hopefully they don’t. From this it doesn’t sound like that is the case and development is just taking too long.
