Rodgers, the game's director, described Driveclub as the “social network for racing games,” and this is exemplified by the game’s Challenge system. If you feel especially confident about a run on a certain track, with a certain car, even at a certain time of day, you can issue a challenge to your club, sending a notification to their PS4s or to their mobile phones (courtesy of the Driveclub Mobile app).
Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.
you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.
Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?
Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.
Driveclub was a headline game at the start of the PS4’s life. A fabulous game – eventually - but what now, with the servers turned off? Is it worth your time? JDR starts its engines in today’s Brutal Backlog.
Bikes expansion might be one of the most underrated games of last gen. Incredible driver and bike animations + DC weather is craze.
Cultured Vultures: We won't stop until everyone appreciates how brilliant Driveclub is/was.
i went to the article and theres only a couple racing games, cant find the button to move page on through all the adverts.
Dirt rally doesn't even make the list? Errm OK then.
Driveclub is over rated as well, with middle of the road handling and the 30fps killed it upon arrival for me.
Why? A driver at Harvard decided to create a driving network for his school after getting the idea from two twin drivers? But when the network which was called The Drive Club caught on outside his school, Justin Timberlake came into the picture and said that "Drive Club" (without the "the") would be a better name. Then it caught on for real. The driver got into a harsh lawsuit, but millions of drivers started using his network. Then Drive Club was nominated for an Oscar, but lost somewhat ridicolously to "The King's Wheels"? Is that why it's called the Social Network of Racers, or should I read and not just watch movies?
The "social network of racers" what? you mean forza?
@Fantasma and silvermist
LOL..and what does that have to do with being a racing game with the best online feature set that supports its community..forza players set up drift clubs..paint cars for eachother...you know.."social" stuff that does not actually even have to involve racing..Forza does that better than any racer, regardless of sales. Just beacse A game sells a shit load that does not mean it has features that are present inb other games...your response to my question was sales...that sounds so familiar..well it does if your neitral in the matter..you have more in common with the average Xbox fanboy than you are willing to admit..
you are two hypocrites with no common sense. shut up. your wack.
Oh..and guess what? ill be playing GT6 in december...JUST like you..I bet that makes you upset. I have the driving game you love...and the driving game you love to hate. Im going to be honest and say I hope this upsets you..but if not thats OK...your just to random scrubs on the internet. Not like I give a shit about your feelings.
*brushes dirt off shoulder*
All the time I see this "social" with "Driveclub" is a let down.
The game looks great, but at least it can have a cheap championship or cheap story mode to give the solo players a reason to race.
