Mark Cerny: 'A Renaissance of Gaming Is Coming on PlayStation 4'

Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PlayStation 4 took center stage at Sony's Gamescom press conference highlighting a few important points regarding Sony's next gen console.

You could hear from Cerny's voice that he was believing in his words. And so do I. Sony figured out Next-Gen didn't just mean better specs. So far everything's shining upon the PS4's horizon. Good time being a gamer.

that's all we can ever hope for

mods are probably out, and certainly so is 1400p, 1600p, 4k gaming, I doubt we'll get 8x, 16x, 32x anti aliasing
and we certainly will not be getting 60-120 frames

but hey we can hope for native 1920x1080 in some games, maybe 4x anti aliasing, and maybe 30-60 frames

so to call it a "gaming renaissance", well, that's a little pretentious, but a tiny bit closer to the leader in gaming, sure, why not

Sony is pushing for games games games. That was the message today at gamescom with a slew of indie titles announced. How anyone can disregard their passion for focusing on what made this industry what it is today is beyond me. Their focus in Feb was games and their focus now at gamescom is games. Never seen then yell Tv Tv Tv anywhere since PS4 was mentioned. Games is why we are here people. Not taking away anything from MS but you cannot discount Sony's push for what gamers really want.

Im getting a ps4 to play next gen games, not indie games

I hear you on that, but the way I look at it is....Most indie games aren't all that great in comparison to AAA titles. But you'll get that one indie game that becomes AAA. Good example is Little Big Planet. Media Molecule was originally a small Indie studio. Their game was such a hit that they became a major studio for playstation. Sony's looking for the next Media Molecule.

It's not a 'renaissance', it's slightly better specs which means you'll finally be able to play games in 1080p on the 1080p tv you bought 7 years ago

Of course, the problem appears when you buy a 4K tv and can only watch movies

I'm waiting to see good games besides infamous. Cause all these other weird indie games are not interesting at all. Those are ipad games. I want PS4 games. And they aren't showing any. I'm not a 9 year old who wants to play a game called Octodad. I want next gen games. That's why I'm buying a next gen system, not to play games that can be played on my ipad.
