Rockstar on GTA V for PS4/Xbox One: We'll 'see what happens'

Rockstar gives an update on whether they plan to release a port of GTA V for next-gen consoles in the future.

They won't confirm that its going to be for PS4 and XOne until after the game launches, because they want you to buy it for PS3/360 AND PS4/XOne

oh yeah definitely. They worked hard on this game and I think they made ps3 the lead platform. I could be wrong but it seems like they're giving the PS3 version the treatment it deserves! If they make it just a little bit better, I'll re-buy it on ps4 without hesitation.

I'd buy on ps4 for the share features alone! I've seriously had some of THE funniest times EVER in that game and would love to save them. One time at full speed my buddy driving, had another player catch up and start shooting us. That lead to an accident resulting in our car spinning. Halfway through the 360 I toss a sticky c4 out the window only to perfectly time it hitting the enemy windshield. My friend saw it as I detonated the bomb. Holy hell I wish I could have saved that. We laughed forever. Moments like that I want recorded. Why stop there though? I wish the game had a video editor too like COD (kind of...just better). I would make a full movie. Think about the possibilities with all you can do in a living breathing city like that! Ooh yeahhh!!!

That means if the PS4/Xboner sells good, and GTAV sells good as well, then you'll probably see a port or re-release on next-gen. But it's likely you won't see it for at least a year.

This is good, a good step from what they previously said about next gen. Hopefully it does happen and actually wouldn't mind buying the game twice if next gen allows online play to have 30+ players at one time on consoles. Imagine all the mayhem with so many players in one room. If they do make a PS4/Xbox One version, it's a win win for everyone. They just have to port the PC version and work a couple things out to make it work.

GTAV can stay on current gen for all I care, but I REALLY want Grand Theft Auto Online on my PlayStation 4. This online world added to all of the online features that the PS4 will bring sounds like a pretty epic win to me. If there's any game that I'd be sharing video clips of, this would be the one.

I bet all the gameplay we have seen hasn't been on the PS3 I bet it was PS4. I am gonna sit back and hold off on buying this game and see what R* does. I want it on PC anyways. But I'd settle for PS4. I'd have to disagree. R* seems to have really utilized all there is to have in this generations consoles in this new game and it looks farrrr from Vanilla.

Now I'm sure if they decided to go ahead and make it available for next-gen it would look crisper and run cleaner but as far as the quality of the game, I doubt we'll be dissatisfied with either version of the game.

They have really focused on the Online portion as well and since we have 7 years of friends, some of us, than we should all be set for the great features and game modes that have been made available for the Online portion such as Liquor store heists, bank heists as those are in sure to be greatly played with friends rather than strangers on a next-gen console.

Sales, my good sir: consider that if R* announce a next-gen version, a serious number of gamers will think "sod getting it this gen, I'll wait to get the next-gen edition"

What R* is doing is a very clever marketing tactic for maximum potential sales, lots of people will fork out money now, assuming there is only a current gen release, and then, when the next gen version inevitably comes out, they'll buy that too.

But if they do not I'm sure Sony or Microsoft will say something about it.
Considering it is set to be the biggest game this fall (debatable I know but there's not need to comment on that) I'm sure they will port this over as incentive to get the new consoles at least by the holiday season
