IGN:
In addition to reversing its used game DRM policies for Xbox One, Microsoft has revealed that the console will no longer require Kinect to function. In our latest Ask Microsoft Anything, Xbox Corporate Vice President Marc Whitten revealed that Xbox One owners will be able to use all of the console's core functions regardless of whether the new Kinect sensor is connected. Naturally, many of the tentpole features of the new Kinect, such as player identification, voice commands, etc., will be disabled as a result, but players will still be able to play games and access entertainment content.
"Hammerwatch II's journey to Xbox has been long and perilous. After first launching on Steam in the fall of 2023, the game finally turned up on PlayStation 5 last December. Since then, Xbox gamers who enjoyed the original Hammerwatch and the sublime Heroes of Hammerwatch have been anxiously awaiting their turn at the long-promised sequel. At last, the wait is nearly over because Hammerwatch II will hit Xbox and PlayStation 4 on April 23," says Co-Optimus.
Joe 'Three Sheets' Neate (Executive Producer): "As I’m sure you can imagine, when it comes to Sea of Thieves my days are full of numbers. Development costs, active servers, days until the next update… Sometimes, though, a truly extraordinary number stands out – a number like 40 million, which I’m incredibly pleased to say is the number of pirates who’ve now set sail in Sea of Thieves!"
Garrr... more people to walk the plank and send to Davey Jones locker.
would have been funny to release this on talk like a pirate day.
Devstream 178 was filled with so many cool announcements for the game's community, and were able to ask a lot of questions about Warframe: 1999 and more!
"That said, like online, the console will still function if Kinect isn’t plugged in, although you won’t be able to use any feature or experience that explicitly uses the sensor"
Soooooo microsoft/nsa can not be using kinect to Spy on you becaue you can simply UNPLUG it preventing it from stealing your identity/life/soul/children/nu des.
Please remember to recycle your tin foil hats everybody!
If true then GREAT....now just give us a bundle where we won't have to buy Kinect.
Since they never said this from the start and always said it needed Kinect for the console to work I'm guessing it's another backtrack, guess this is what the "unfair", "hateful", "unnecessary" backlash got us. Not so silly now is it guys
This is why it's good to complain
EDIT
Really...disagrees for what?
Didn't they say at E3 the device can be turned off. I may be wrong but I swear that did happen. So this isn't really news
Also that title is a bit misleading as it is in a way but it can be turned off (something that was aid at E3)
Holy...christ xD
Does this mean they'll be a kinectless sku?
I really wish they would sell just the system without the kinect for 400. Then I'd probably buy it.
