Tbh it has been a really bad dry spell for games and I find game staff very helpful but for what they have in stock and the price thy sell things I am not surprised.

Went into my local eb games tonight and they have barely any pc games i was so shocked cause i went in there weeks earlier and they had alot of pc games.

On a lighter note he said Xbox one is going good for pre orders.

All sorts of factors are bring down the sales for retail.
a. Not many new games being released this time of year.
b. Digital download.
c. buying game on line like shop.net
d. retail show just arn't good value and can't compete.

I might pop into one to have a look whats in store, but even the second hand games cost to much.

Hahha i feel your pain ive been wanting to buy dbz burst limit for so long even though its fairly cheap now (40) second hand i cant bring myself to pay that much for such an old game am i bad person :(

Yet they insist on releasing everything at the same time.

yeah the staff are nice but they over charge on games and Games web page is a joke.

I agree. I think the new oweners have made a mistake by closing the name gamestation down and keeping game. Gamestation was known as the gamers shop where game was where parents went to pickup a console. I want into game in Manchester the other day as I wanted to see what they had WiiU wise on sale as I was thinking of picking up nfsmw and the collection of games for it were poor and they did not nfsmw in. In fact I don't recall seeing Pikmin 3 to. When you also ask the staff in store now they are not very clued up on games and gaming too.

Also I tend to buy all my games from Zavvi or Amazon as they cost less than Game too.

Lucky for the retailers Naughty Dog and Sony released The Last of Us in the typically slower season. MGS4 made this work too, more publishers should take note, good games sell all year round.

@mac_sparrow

Exactly! I think It drives most gamers mad that the year's most anticipated games almost always release between the end of september through the start of December.

I remember the fall of 2011 being especially crowded with games like Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Forza 4, Saints Row The Third, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Gears 3, and whatever that year's CoD game was (Black Ops 1 maybe?).., all those games released within the same 60 day time period, and I'm sure I wasn;t the only one that was backlogged well into the summer with games from that fall that I hadn't played yet!

mac_sparrow3904d ago

Not only that, but with the amount of games within that period, by the time most people get round to buying the last few they are heavily reduced.

Surely better to release 3-4 weeks earlier and sell well at a higher price for longer?
