What do you think the best PS4 game will be within the first year?

GamesRadar - The PlayStation 3 was the console for exclusives this generation, and that's a trend Sony appears to be attempting to continue with the upcoming PlayStation 4. It's already lined up a suite of awesome-looking AAA games from first and third-party developers, ensuring that there are experiences you can only get on the PS4.

I'll put my money on Second Son.

I could see this being the case from what we've heard of it

AHall883912d ago

Witcher 3 or MGSV.
Nothing else, that's announced at least, seems like it will come close to matching those two.

JunioRS1013912d ago

MGSV???

No.

MGS has undergone way too many changes since MGS4. I'm very skeptical about how the game will work considering it's now 'open world' and it also will be running on xbox 360s.

Remember, its predecessor was too big to run on xbox 360s??

So, is this game SMALLER? As in less ambitious somehow?

That makes me skeptical. I don't know if it can live up to the hype. Kojima is really taking a gamble with this one, and while I hope it works out, I certainly don't think it will get a 10/10 like MGS4. Maybe not even a 9.5, and MGS games need to be top quality.

Witcher 3. Runner up will be The Division if it comes out within the first year.

Campy da Camper3912d ago

Gotta admit, if the division looks and plays like the E3 video and on consoles, it could be a killer app. I gave up on fps mp after world at war feeling games changed since the days of rainbow 6. The Division looks to pull me back in.

JsonHenry3911d ago

Speaking of Rainbow Six I can't wait for the new one. I REALLY miss the old days of Raven Shield.

walkincarpet3912d ago (Edited 3912d ago )

I don't get the infamous love. I played Infamous and Little Big Planet when Sony offered them for free when they got hacked and got bored of both in a few weeks. A;so Killzone is a b shooter compared to the xbox FPS games so I'm wondering if that will change on PS4? Unless Sony is hiding something their best games in the first year will be multiplatform like BF4, Division, Destiny. ...forgot about witcher 3 and MGS 5....

Speaking of hiding, sony will make waves if they reveal the last guardian as a ps4 system seller at gamescon.

LOGICWINS3912d ago (Edited 3912d ago )

LBP is for a niche audience. You need to be very creative and patient to get to the meat of the entertainment. It's perfectly understandable for it not to be your cup of tea. Your in the same boat as most (me included). I'm curious to try out LBP Vita since the touch controls supposedly make it easier/less tedious to build levels.

I LOVED Infamous 1 and 2. But one huge negative is that they aren't the type of games you play over and over again (Two times max to experience the good and evil scenarios). The first one suffered from a lot of repetition in terms of side missions, glitches, bad lip syncing, and screen tearing.

Infamous 2 fixes all these problems (and is an overall better game IMO), but it wasn't as challenging as Infamous 1 was.

Its all a matter of opinion really.

DotA2 with keyboard mouse support on PS4

I'm not really interested in any of the PS4 games yet. I'll wait for pricedrops for the majority of them.

The Evil Within is the only one I'm buying day 1 for sure. Shinji Mikami ftw. But this game will also be out for the PS3 I believe. So really there isn't a single PS4 game i'm dead set on.

Lately i've been thinking about cancelling my nextgen preorder to be honest. I like having money. Knowing that I could drop what i'm doing and go take a trip somewhere or buy whatever I want is pretty awesome. THe freedom of being able to do whatever you want is better than anything the PS4 will offer.

I see the PS4 and XB1 as mainly being a benefit to PC gamers since their games will no longer be developed around older hardware. There isn't a single game that looks "must have."

yeahokchief3911d ago

What do I think will sell the most on the PS4?

Killzone will probably be the highest selling exclusive.

Call of Duty will probably sell the most copies.

GTA V will destroy all of these numbers anyways tho. So whatever.

Second Son. I just love how much Sucked Punch have grown as a developer. I see them becoming like Naughty Dog. Where quality is present in anything they announce.

GribbleGrunger3912d ago (Edited 3912d ago )

Uncharted 4
the Last Guardian
The Agent

... are the obvious choices, but I'm going to plump for a rank outsider and say Second Son. It has sleeper hit written all over it.

... yes, I'm kidding.

(That should confuse everyone)

HammadTheBeast3912d ago

Just pointing out, none of those 3 have been really announced for PS4 yet lol.

walkincarpet3912d ago

that was my thought... those three would probably take the prize but not sure if they are releasing first year... or at all.

LOGICWINS3912d ago

When did Uncharted 4 get announced?

sobotz3912d ago

Then I choose Half Life 3, Persona 5, BF5, and GTAVI

Ripsta7th3911d ago (Edited 3911d ago )

Hahah i love they way u replied, fuck it les jus name games we want :) awesome lol

majiebeast3912d ago

As of now Infamous:SS but we really havent seen much, Sony has unveiled 5 of their 20 games that would come out in year 1.

You can bet that the next Naughty Dog game will be unveiled at the VGA's its almost tradition. Santa Monica studio's seems to be about ready to show off their new IP if we go by the tweets of the voice actress. There is just too much we dont know yet to think about best game of the first year.

DigitalRaptor3911d ago

The thing is, you look at the multiplatform games and they seem to be above and beyond what any exclusive is doing.

The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid V, Final Fantasy XV, Assassin's Creed IV. There are just better looking multiplats than exclusives at this stage. Best PS4 game? my money is on MGSV.

From what we know now, Second Son looks to be the best PS4 exclusive in my opinion.

Ashunderfire863912d ago (Edited 3912d ago )

While everybody is saying Second Son(Big fan of Infamous Series), I'm going to take a huge breath and say The Order: 1886. I just have this feeling that it will be an instant classic with its life like graphics and gameplay. It would be interesting to see how Ready At Dawn use that seamless experience were players; will never see any difference between the cutscene and gameplay, which is very good. Too many cgi cutscenes in the past were better than the actual game.I see a possible coop multiplayer in the game, based on the trailer too.

AirJohnston3912d ago

I actually came here to say The Order. Good thinkin, bub

Campy da Camper3912d ago

Jesus I forgot about the order. So now I have to buy the order, second son, watch dogs, acbf, mgs5, the new uncharted which is sure to come out, Sony Santa Monica's new game, the division, destiny, media molecules new game...Jesus I need a clone.

What, I thought this was dead after Shawn Layden left Sony. I would definitely pick this up if it's true. I have such great memories of playing the MediEvil games on PS1 and I played the PS4 remake. Such a great and underrated series.

Cacabunga3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

A rumored game at a rumored show.. we’ve seen it all

TiredGamer3h ago

Agreed. The first remake was stylistically beautiful and a very noticeable improvement over the original in every regard. And it was reasonably priced and sustainably developed (i.e. not some mega big budget game that was do or die for the developer).

Zeke684h ago

Thanks for the spoilers... :(

RonnySins4h ago

Another day, another remake. Ugh!

SonyStyled3h ago

If you played the original print I can see your annoyance. I didn’t and probably a lot others the past 20 years.

Was it any good? Would you suggest playing the original print of 2, or suggest the remake? Just wondering because I didn’t play the originals as I had an n64 at the time

TiredGamer3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

I played the first remake and absolutely loved it. The quality of life and control improvements were very noticeable. I tried playing the PS1 original and gave up halfway through at the janky controls.

Expect the same for part 2. The PS1 version is janky as heck, but I would gobble up an improved remake day one.

The beauty of this kind of stuff is that I find myself enjoying more retro gaming today, so a relatively low budget classic remake (call it a single-A release) is exactly what is missing from first party releases in the modern age. I don’t want every game to be an unsustainable AAAA endeavor that is just overwhelming in every regard. Truly miss when game releases could be modest-sized surprises and still be commercially successful/viable.

Bring on more quality classic remakes!

Knightofelemia4h ago

Such a good series I also wish Sony would dust off Wild Arms and Legend of Dargoon even the Legend series needs to see the light again.

Omegasyde3h ago

My bets on new Socom and/or Wolverine (since Deadpool 3 is dropping in the summer).

I think one after this state of play will be PS5 pro preorder

"Darkest Dungeon II" is coming to Playstation consoles on July 15th, 2024

"The Vancouver-based (Canada) indie games developer Red Hook Studios are today very happy and excited to announce that their roguelike /strategy/RPG “Darkest Dungeon II”, is coming to Playstation consoles (PS5 and PS4) via PSN on July 15th, 2024." - Jonas Ek, TGG.

TwoPicklesGood5h ago

Don't sleep on this, it's a great day

Michiel19891m ago

I personally didn't enjoy 2 as much as I did 1. Actually didn't even finish it.
I do praise that they didn't just carbon copy the 1st game and added more of everything, but I think that during the process a lot of what made Darkest Dungeon appealing to put a ton of hours in, was lost.

The new mode does look cool and I will definitely jump back into it and try it out.
