Whore of the Orient leaked gameplay footage revealed

VideoGamer has acquired the first ever gameplay footage of Team Bondi's troubled next-gen project Whore of the Orient.

The exclusive footage, supplied to us by a trusted source, offers a first look at the lead character, combat, gunplay and city of the open-world action title, which previous publisher Warner Bros. is rumoured to have dropped in late 2012.

Looks awful. Like a "B" tier Uncharted. I know its in development, but still. And that name... They're inviting more controversy than is good for the game.

Arai3913d ago

The term "whore of the orient" is an old expression from Shanghai.

bicfitness3913d ago (Edited 3913d ago )

I know where the terminology comes from, but I don't expect most young, modern gamers - or gaming critics - to know or care for the subtly.

Edit: Bubble for Morgan for 'intelligent', below.

morganfell3913d ago

Actually it was the nickname of Shanghai. Although like Saigon it was at one time referred to as the Paris of the East it was the former moniker that stuck with it.

minimur123912d ago (Edited 3912d ago )

I'm happy to see that team bondi are still around, and that this game is still in development, but one problem (totally unrelated)

THAT WATERMARK
I mean seriously, it's taking up like a third of the screen.

nveenio3912d ago

I agree that it looks terrible. Graphics are basic. Animations stiff. Expressionless faces.

Of course, I'll reserve judgement for the official reveal, if there will ever be one.

gaffyh3912d ago

This game does not look good, at all.

I think it looked great for a team that has shrunk so much from what they used to be and still with no publisher and any real funding! It could look better but with time I KNOW IT WILL

Canary3913d ago

I don't know about controversy, but with a name like that, I'm certain the game is garbage.

Even if it ends up being a really good game, it'll still be garbage.

Kurylo3d3913d ago (Edited 3913d ago )

That doesnt even make sense. Art wise the game looks hot, gameplay wise.. looks clunky and still in development.. Kinda boring looking too.

The name is actually good too. Its historically accurate.

I don't blame WB for dropping this.

You can't just clone Uncharted and make a buck you gotta GO BIG!!

NYC_Gamer3913d ago

I'm not surprised WB dropped the project after watching

nick3093913d ago

Now it shifted to next gen, this is probably a really pre alpha thing.

SpideySpeakz3913d ago

Looks like they need to drop it again.

360ICE3913d ago

Looks ok. I mean, it's probably taken from really early in development.

fsfsxii3913d ago

What is this?? Sleeping Dogs in an older setting??

MONG Podcast 128 | But Wait! There’s More!

This week the crew got together to talk about the new Ghostbusters game in relation to the release of the film reboot and they might have had opinions you wouldn’t expect! They also introduced a new segment (that might be weekly… maybe) called Hideo Kojima Quote of the Show, or HKQOTS for short!

The Hideo Kojima quote of the week is brilliant. Simply brilliant.

jlfleur2851d ago

I've already got one for the next episode I'm on.

poison_shadow2851d ago

Nice! He always seems to have something... *interesting* to say.

I knew the game was in developmental hell, but didn't realise the whole thing had been given up on and everyone had moved on. Loved L.A. Noire, and this sounds like it would have been even better,

Walter_Official2856d ago

Im surprised it took this long for the news to break.

SlappingOysters2856d ago

I wouldn't mind knowing what Bendan McNamara is doing then if it is not this?

Walter_Official2856d ago

Hopefully another game similar to L.A. Noire. I just want another crime fighting game, and The Whore of the Orient just didn't look similar to me from the gameplay reveal a few years back.

jay22856d ago

stupid people not keeping it alive don't need COD, BF **** etc.

Chaos_Order2856d ago

This is some disappointing news. I loved LA Noire and was looking forward to this. I just those involved are able to get jobs again. :(

Chaos_Raiden2855d ago (Edited 2855d ago )

That is disappointing. I love L.A. Noire, so I am hoping that Team Bondi will make another game similar to it.

EDIT: My mistake, the developer is KMM.

21 Huge Upcoming Games That We Still Don't Have Release Dates For

Overmental: We're right smack dab in between E3's at the moment, which leaves a lot of big 2015 games announced, but without confirmed release dates.

Battlefront 3 will most likely launch at the same day Star Wars 7 is launching. And so will Ratchet and Clank.

Quantum Break is a game that might get delayed. I mean Alan Wake was announced in 2005 and was released in 2010. So that's five years. Hopefully that doesn't happen here.

AC Victory and COD will definitely be released this year.

slappy5083335d ago

Do we know when the Ratchet and clank movie is coming out? Now the game is something I'm really looking forward to if they are being released concurrently. I bet a lot of these games are set for holiday 2015

BloodAddiction3335d ago

Final Fantasy XV? Persona 5? Kingdom Hearts 3? where are those games on the list?

itsjustexuma3335d ago

This list is missing so many games

showtimefolks3335d ago

i think out of these FF has the best chances to come out in west during fall 2015

we still have few events before the fall so we will get release dates, i am kind of worried about new Battlefront gamer because if its launching with new star wars movie, did it get enough time in development? I mean EA got the License and started working on it not long ago

did EA start working on this a while back and the license was announced at a later date maybe?

JacketsNest1013334d ago

Not to mention lack of Xenoblade. How is Ratchet and Clank a bigger release than all of the games we've mentioned?

sander97023335d ago

Did the guy who made this list shake one of those magic 8-balls for the chance of every game slipping into 2016?
