When i make a console purchase decision it's between ps4 and Xbox One, if there are games on either console that i can't play on the other console, i would include them as reasons to buy that console.

Technically speaking an exclusive means that you would have to buy a specific piece of hardware to play a particular game, and if it's on multiple platforms it's not an exclusive.

As appose to things like PSV, 3DS, Wii U, and PlayStation if they are only on branded platforms that technically they can be called brand exclusives. As with the the PC the platform isn't governed by any company, so they can't really be brand exclusive with PC / XBOX hence the existence of XBOX.

I can make a computer program right now (no SDKs required, just software engines if needed) and send it to anyone I want without authenticating through Microsoft. Planetside 2 or Titanfall are not exclusives because I can chose two or more platforms to play the game on. If I wanted to play Halo, Killzone, Mario, or Starcraft I would have to invest in a particular platform.

Microsoft wants nothing to do with PC gaming. They've made that plainly clear to PC gamers due to them not wanting Xbox games on PC.

I'm happy with that as they are nothing but trouble when it comes to gaming.

The only tie to MS is the Windows OS and if DirectX was compatible on another OS i would switch immediately like alot of others too.

So being on Xbox and PC deems the game non-exclusive as they are 2 different platforms as MS does not own the PC platform as it's an open platform.

The thing is, you don't buy companies; you buy platforms. Company exclusives aren't even slightly relevant. PC, PS4 and X1 are different platforms that can be owned separately.

Now why is a PS3/Vita game considered more of an exclusive than X1/PC game? Because in the real world, handhelds don't compete with home consoles. They don't have the same capabilities either. But PCs DO hold up to consoles (and offer even more). They are the most popular gaming system out there and it's safe to assume that a large majority of gamers have one. Everyone comparing PS3/Vita exclusitivity to Xbox/PC exclusitivity, you're missing one vital point. A game on PS3 and a game on Vita is never the same game, it's a "handheld" version. No one is counting the free-to-play games as exclusives because we're better than that. Those kind of experiences will set the PS4 and XB1 apart though I can tell you that regardless of them also being on the PC platform. We're even publicising that free-to-play PC games can be brought over to PS4 easily and in a short space of time, as well as fitting right in with Sony's online policies, which is fantastic.

The thing here is, fanboys like yourself are getting excited and boasting exclusives, where several of them are available on a non Xbox platform, and using this to somehow boast a larger/better lineup than PS4.

What this is attempting, is to negate that PS4 will also have plenty of actual PS4 exclusives to match or even exceed Microsoft's number. However as well as the free-to-play culture, you also get the massive indie focus too. It is really going to be clear once both of these consoles are out in the wild about which company is exploiting the diversity of gaming, and which one is exploiting the diversity of "broad entertainment".

Why? If I pay a studio to make me an exclusive IP or if I have a internal studio or buy out a studio to make the same game what's the difference in terms of the game itself= NOTHING. Obviously both have their pluses and minuses, not owning them obviously costs you more upfront but in between game development you are not paying their light bill's, however owning them lets you keep that the talent pool in house but again not owning them frees up more cash to "shop around" for the hot independent/3rd party studios to buy more games/content for your platform, there is no "right way", in-house is not always best because frankly knowiing you always get a pay check can lead to complacency vs being independent and knowing every game is advertisement for your next deal.

NOW considering neither Phil Spencer or Yoshida are making games they all buy studios or pay talented studios to make games so at the end of the day what matters most about a game is not who owns the studio?, NO whats matters is, is the game they are working on going to be great?

I'd say it is a strong list even though It doesn't match my personal taste that much. Halo and Forza are pretty much guaranteed quality games but I'm even more interessted in games like Quantum Break and Project Spark cause the concepts look fresh.

I'm more sceptical towards Ryse cause It didn't appeal to me with the E3 trailer. KI looks good and as a fighting game fan I should be excited but as far as I know you'll have to buy every single character for the game.

Regarding KI you do not have to buy the characters individually. They're going to offer different packages and the option to have all characters.

Its the exact same for DriveClub, You get the ps+ version or you can pay and upgrade it to the full retail version.

Based on track record I'd say Sunset Overdrive, Dead Rising 3, and games like Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare losing their exclusivity to PS4 after a year. Same goes to Titanfall, even though it's not really exclusive to begin with.

It's fantastic to see the Xbox fanboys comparing launch lineups like that is anything to go by in the long term. But they're never been ones to see ahead further than they'd like. Sony's track record says that their PS4 games are going to be amazing and numerous.

20 exclusives vs Microsoft's 15 in the first year alone, and with 140 total games in development, you're gonna see plenty of third party exclusives too.

I'm in the Xbox camp and I've played Knack. it's not shit, it's hardly a game changer but it's a very good family friendly platformer ala Jak and Daxter/Ratchet and Clank.

Not enough to sway me to buy a PS4 first (I'll be getting both eventually) but I will pick it up once I get a PS4.

Can't wait to see what both studios have still to reveal, but Xbox is winning on games so far.

I also have zero interest in Knack. And i dont think it has anything to do with the fact that its family friendly, to me it just looks bad and shallow compared to other excellent games in its catagory. Hell the Jak and Daxter games from the ps2 era seem to have way more going for it then Knack does, since everything we have seen of Knack so far is completely on rails and the guy only does like 1 or 2 moves with little to no platforming.

Developers are literally taking a PC build and in 3 months it's up and running on PS4. Cranking everything up to max settings that you'd expect on a high-end PC, and because it's final hardware, they can focus, optimise and push the most out of it.

* When I say set the two consoles apart, is because Sony will also have numerous, excellent AAA offering from their worldwide studios as well as second and third party developers making exclusive title for them.

Regarding Knack - there are no pretences with what that game is and what it stands for. It's not meant to blow minds. While Microsoft has revealed a lot of exclusives we haven't seen much of the gameplay from Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, D4, Black Tusk game, Halo 5, Crimson Dragon so I'm guessing these are the games we'll see

I'm personally more excited to see gameplay for these games along with more Titanfall and Ryse gameplay

I'm also interested to see if Microsoft makes any adjustment on the price as they are working on lowering it

Here is something that people keep forgetting. MS is not trying to sell u PC (they don't own that true). They do try to sell u software (window os, DirectX, etc) or cloud services (SkyDrive, azure, etc).

the only reason why people say you don't have to buy Xbox to play game that are on PC is that, they want to show they don't support MS in anyways. Here are some problems with that argument:

1. If you purchase a PC without any OS, then PC is just an expansive paper weight. Now what types of OS dominate on PC? why do you think pc maker or retailers try to sell PC with window along with it? PC relies on the type of OS to sell but OS doesn't relies on PC to sell

2. If developer want to make games on PC, what do you think they gonna make the game for window (largest market share)or Linux, Ubuntu (really small market)? What do u think those games, developed by Sony for PC platform, will most likely compatible with: window or Linux? Do you think Sony would make games only compatible with Linux/ubuntu when they sell their laptops with window OS?

3. Example of titan fall. EA is a greedy money grabbing publisher according to N4g peeps right? So when they make titan fall for PC, what type of OS will it most likely compatible with? Titan fall also utilize MS Azure server on Xbox one, you don't think they wouldn't use the same server for titan fall on PC?

4. The argument that people think they are hurting MS by playing games on PC instead of xbox is stupid. Some on here even tout that they can play halo, gears, and fable on PC in resentment to MS, when MS Either owned the IP or publishing right to these game. The level of some IQ on n4g are questionable.

What it comes down to is that, somebody have to pay for window and possibly Azure server in order to play these games on PC, and that is what MS aim for. Let me repeat, they aren't trying to sell u PC, they try to sell u software and services.
