Analog Addiction writes: "In 2004 Guerrilla Games released the first installment of their first person shooter series, Killzone. Since debuting on the PlayStation 2 the franchise has graced the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, with an upcoming entry set for the PlayStation Vita known as Killzone Mercenary. However fans of the Killzone universe are awaiting Guerrillas first foray into next generation development, when they release Killzone: Shadow Fall alongside the PlayStation 4′s launch.
The series is almost a decade old and has become synonymous with the PlayStation brand, however it has never fully reached the “killer app” status. In previous titles Guerrilla has showcased glimpses of brilliance within the series, but we are still waiting to see this expansive universe reach its true potential. However Guerrilla need not look far from their original trilogy to find ways to improve on the Killzone brand, and in a sense looking back is the strongest way to improve the future."
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
The first Killzone game never met lofty expectations of dethroning Xbox’s Halo, but if any game needs a PS5 remake, this is the one.
I like Halo, but I don't think there is any need for a 'Halo Killer' at this point. If anything, the franchise is slowly undermining itself by making some of the dumbest mistakes possible. Infinite has finally reached a good point in terms of multiplayer, but it took an extra 2 years to get there. Meanwhile, the single-player experience is fine but rather mediocre when compared to the franchise peak.
That said, I would like to see the Killzone franchise back, if anything, to offer more variety to the PS5 exclusive catalog.
I'd love a killzone trilogy, fully remastered on a single disc like they did with Uncharted. Maybe they could make it the full killzone saga including PSP and Vita games converted to console.
I've never liked the idea of a 'franchise killer', why can't both thrive, without one killing off the other? Its such a childish mentality.
That being said, if there ever was a true 'Halo killer', then it would have to be 343 Studios, and the Xbox division. They're doing a fine job killing off their own IP, apparently.
Halo doesn't need to be killed, they've done that themselves. It's a shell of its former self.
It's been 10 years since Killzone: Shadow Fall arrived for PlayStation 4 early adopters, and there's no sign of another sequel.
Sadly it was dumped by Guerrilla to focus on Horizon games only. Mainline, VR and Multiplayer.
I loved the KZ2+3 campaigns and MP in 2. There could be so much more done with the franchise. Horizon although good, I wish they'd go back to this wonderful IP. Take a break from Horizon please.
I think Kill Zone would do great in Sony's LS push. As well as MAG reboot and bring back Resistance into LS.
Killzone games were so polished. The gameplay was just simple joy. MP was one of the best experiences.
I remember KZ3, just staring at how awesome they animated the water and then getting wasted because of it.
this game is looking real nice. I wonder if the gameplay will be on par with how it looks.
Im pretty sure it has already learned from the past games since its going to release this fall/holidays with the ps4.
5 ways they can learn is by.
- Not following kz3 example

- And only taking operations idea from kz3 :P
They need to get rid of move support as it was really unfair online or they need desperate servers for move.
Mostly only casuals like kz3 as I have been around the killzone community for years and most of them hated kz3 hence why it didnt sell as well as kz2, recived worse scores and had less people playing than kz2 did.
Stealth disagrees all you want but you can't prove me wrong. Kz3 ruined tons of what was good about killzone you casuals need to go away and stop ruining good series.
PLEASE give us local and online co-op!!!
Bring back Hakha. He's the best! Sean Pertwee is the best.
