Is Battlefield’s Single Player Mode Outmoded?

These days a lot of people are talking about single-player campaign modes in games like Battlefield 4 and whether they are really relevant. In this post a Battlefield gamer talks about how little interest he has in single-player campaign modes.

Single-player for BF3 was so bad, I couldn't play past half the game. It was just generic, uninspired, and overall boring as ****.

Multiplayer on the other hand, is where its at.

I'll most likely be skipping BF4. If the end of Bf3 is any indicated of where the franchise is going, I want nothing to do with it.

I meant online, It was turned to complete garbage with ignored bugs, website problems, free and cheap hacks, hackers not being banned only having stats reset, balance issues.

Really the game is complete garbage right now.

Maybe thats actually a good thing though. Think about it, if they ignore the end of BF3, could it possibly mean that they were too busy working on BF4 making it an amazing game with no bugs? Just a thought..

I highly doubt it, as some of the problems existed for upwards of 6 months prior to them fixing them.

One of those comes to mind really well, the dart glitch.

Single player that is just multiplayer with bots would be better IMO.

I only picked up BF4 because it was part of a launch day bundle and I had already preordered KZ:SF & Watchdogs when I preordered my launch day edition. If I could have just ordered another regular launch day model without BF4 I would have.

They dump so much money into these single player canpaigns that basically serve as technical showcases in trailers. I have 3 bs games amd ibe never once completed the campaign. Bf has cod bested in terms of multiplayer depth but theyre both monotonous setpiece-driven shooting galleries on the single player front.

single player is tutorial for multiplayer, put it on hardest difficulty and if you can beat it you are rdy for multiplayer.

From what I know about the single player ( open world, you can stealth it, most buildings are destructible, the story isnt just GET DE NUKE it actually sounds interesting, control your squad like spec ops:the line) I'm excited for both single and multiplayer.

The problem with the campaign in Battlefield 3 was that I felt like they didn't even try. The combination of the idiot A.I with yawn inducing QTE's, I couldn't believe how they reduced what could the flight mission that could have been the highlight of all the theatres to a snail's pace with "Simon Sez".

However I say campaign shouldn't be removed but pressure should be given to DICE to put more effort into it. I love multiplayer as much the next gamer however when I pay 60 plus dollars for a title at release, I expect a title to be well rounded at the least.

That being said, I believed the Spetznaz section was the only part of the story that actually gave an inking of interest (especially the invasion of the Foreign Exchange.)

No SP, no purchase. I play the SP first then go into MP.

just pretend the singleplayer campaign doesn't exist and jump into the multiplayer, like battlefield is supposed to be
