Game Rumble: We've played almost every popular game on the 3DS, and they were all good. Some of them, though, stand out among the others. This is a small list of reviews of our favorite games in the 3DS. Our top 5 3DS must-haves.

I'd add PilotWings, SMT4, and Devil Survivor Overclocked to that list.

But yeah, it's clear the 3DS has a great library. Quite a turnaround compared to what was available within launch window. RPG fans - especially - are missing out if they don't have a 3DS.

gamerumble3923d ago

Pilotwings is a good time killer, and it's a good game. But it falls short on the content. In my humble opinion, there's not a lot of things to do in that game.

Pisque3923d ago

So nothing but platform and low budget rpgs

Murad3923d ago

Personally, even though I have a 3DS, I wish handheld games weren't so darn expensive. I mean a great deal of them don't have price drops until 2 years after their launch. Kind of bogus in my opinion.

dedicatedtogamers3923d ago

Are you referring to Nintendo handheld games? I feel ya. The 1st party Nintendo games stay high in price for the longest time.

But otherwise, I think handheld games are pretty cheap, comparatively speaking. I mean, we're talking about $30-40 to buy a game Day One as opposed to $60 for a console game.

Murad3923d ago

@dedicated
I'm sort of talking about Nintendo handheld games, but in general as well. I've noticed the price of handhelds seldom go down compared to consoles. I mean if you look at it like this, Bioshock Infinite is already down to 40 dollars and it's only been a few months ( no offense towards the game for whoever is reading). While, you have handheld games like Devil Survivor that's around 25 dollars at the cheapest even on Ebay, and that game is around a year old. It's just odd how console games come out at 60, but price reductions happen so quickly, while handheld games, even PSP games don't really have a price reduction. Games like Dissdia still cost a good 15 bucks, even though being very old.

dedicatedtogamers3923d ago

I hear ya. Yes, there ARE certain handheld games that hold their value for a long while. I think it's because handhelds have a lot of "rare" games that people want. Look at how FE Awakening was sold out (or at least hard to find) for a month straight. A lot of ATLUS games are expensive and only go up in price as time goes on because their games tend to become rare cult hits.

But there are cheap handheld games, too. Just to name a few, I got Theatrhythm, Pilot Wings, AssCreed Liberation, and LBP Vita for less than $10 over the last year. You just have to look for the deals, I guess.

dark-hollow3923d ago (Edited 3923d ago )

I can't praise it enough but seriously if you didn't buy fire emblem awakening yet you're missing one of the greatest SRPGs of all time.

With that being said, where the hell is advance wars Nintendo????

dedicatedtogamers3923d ago

Mmmm Advance Wars.

I hope they go back to the quasi-goofy Orange Star versus Blue Moon style of older games. I dunno. I didn't - personally - dig the darker tone of DoR but that's just me.

Spot on about FE Awakening. I've been playing SRPGs since...dang, since the NES I'd say, and Awakening is easily in my Top 3 SRPGs ever.

Murad3923d ago

I personally find myself disliking Awakening as compared to the other Fire Emblem's in the franchise. The reason why it felt more so like a grind fest than it did a true Fire Emblem strategy combined with a few RPG elements. Furthermore, I didn't feel like they even bothered to use the generations to the fullest. I ended up having over 40 characters, just like I did in a Suikoden game, but more so than not, each one of them could take down an army of 20 enemies each round, so it kind of become like, there's no point in liking one character when another is just as strong.
Furthermore, Advance Wars I think is kind of dead. 40 Days I believe the game was called on the DS didn't sell properly or something, or it didn't gain enough popularity and well, I haven't heard even the slightest bit of news. Hopefully I'm wrong about this, but this is what Nintendo does quite a bit. The only reason they brought Fire Emblem back is the major success of Path of Radiance and the story with Lyn and Eliwood.

Donnieboi3923d ago

I want Advance Wars with online battles and the ability to share custom-made maps like how u can share levels in LBP. That would be my perfect A.W. sequel.

levian3922d ago

I love Kingdom Hearts, but I tried to played Dream Drop, and I just couldn't do it. I think they're adding new types of monsters just because they think they can. They add pokemon like pets, or nintendogs or something.

I wanted to, but I really couldn't do it.

Glad to see zelda make the list. I swear, I could play that game forever, especially the mini-games like fishing.

levian3922d ago

That was the first game I nabbed for my 3DS. I was excited not only because its a great game, but I was told you could play Master Quest after beating it. I never got around to playing it years ago.

I got super excited, I hooked the Hylian Loach my first throw. It got away, sadly.

_FantasmA_3923d ago

Virtues Last Reward is on Vita also and I don't know if Revelations should be on there since its on consoles now.

linkenski3922d ago

It's still so much better when it's handheld imo.

Misaka_x_Touma3922d ago (Edited 3922d ago )

Much better on 3DS because of second screen. Which is the core gameplay selling point

Y_51503923d ago

I do not own any of the top 5 that was mentioned. I play different games I guess...

Steam Uproar as Capcom Slips In Restrictive DRM Software

From Xfire: "Steam users and the larger PC gaming community are lashing out at Capcom over a streak of sneaky DRM updates as the Japanese gaming giant continues to flirt with controversy"

LordoftheCritics88d ago

RIP

Capcom turning into Ubisoft.

Well success can have that effect.

just_looken88d ago

Yep this shows how bad a digital world is now well for the old titles new games disc or not the drm is there but you can get the old games on dvd then try to monkey the last pre drm update onto the game files.

I love GOG for this reason i saw that skyrim bs update so i know not to run that version as gog you can select what patch to download/install with capcom hopefully we get a list of the update numbers that add this horrific drm.

With denuvo as a alder lake pc user it still has issues with E cores and i remember when the servers were taken offline forcing hundreds of games to be paperweights.

FinalFantasyFanatic88d ago

It's also really annoying how they can cut or change content later, like the Skull Girls controversy, a decade later after the game came out, they decide to censor it. The game is a decade old, if it's not broken, leave it, adding DRM back into older games is BS.

just_looken88d ago

@final

Good point even major sp games got the cut after the fact be it last of us with maps/art or gta 5 removing stuff in the world.

Cyberpunk ps4 day one disc copy the sept build still has stuff the other versions no longer have.

With the gta 6 controversy right now i think back to the days of saints row creating a character beating up cops with a dildo bat and now we have elon crying over gta 6 guns killing cops i bet you if they made saints row 2 hd they would half to cut half the games content or go to jail lol also sad.

Was watching avatar last airbender 13yr old ang kissing katar again can not have that in a kids show or game now.

PRIMORDUS88d ago (Edited 88d ago )

Do they want more of their games to be torrented? Seems like it, I don't mind 🤣 Just ripped them a new asshole on Twitter, as I do not care what I say or post on there LOL.

banger8888d ago

Let me guess, you have a vpn enabled. For your sake I hope it's not in any 5 Eyes territories.

PRIMORDUS87d ago

I have ExpressVPN but on Twitter I don't use it lol. For other things I use it :D

Barlos87d ago

Nice. I got a lifetime ban on Twitter back in 2020 for speaking my mind. Don't care tbh, I'm not really into social media. I don't even have a Facebook account.

PRIMORDUS87d ago

I'm still trying to get banned to lol I'll keep at it 🤣 I have FB but maybe log in once a month but yeah always speak your mind no matter how bad the words come out, do not hold back online or IRL. Fuck them shit bags lol.

got_dam88d ago

This is classic Capcom. They everything they go on a hot streak and win back some consumer good will they have to turn around and burn it to the ground and have to start the whole process again.

Chocoburger87d ago (Edited 87d ago )

Additional DRM just pushes people to pirate more. These ignorant executives just don't get it. Only the legitimate customer is affected by DRM. 😕

Darkegg87d ago

Drm punishes legit customers and encourage hackers. It’s the wrong way to go about it.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

LG_Fox_Brazil123d ago

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64122d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga122d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic121d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits122d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake122d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

franwex122d ago (Edited 122d ago )

25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.

Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.

babadivad122d ago (Edited 122d ago )

It isn't...
