Shadowrun is a franchise that not many are familiar with whatsoever, and why should they be? The original title came out for the Super Nintendo, a long time before anyone from this generation even knew it existed. And before that, the video game was adapted from a table-top role-playing game, and then completely losing its overall atmosphere, role-playing elements, and becoming completely different than what it was on the Super Nintendo after it was adapted into a first-person shooter for the Xbox 360. However, it’s great to see Harebrained Schemes bought the rights for Shadowrun from Microsoft in order to return it to its origins, and it’s even better to say that Shadowrun Returns carries it’s franchise’s name with proud colors.
With Harebrained Schemes now independent once again, there are several reasons that make it Microsoft's next ideal acquisition target.
Ms has plenty. They don't need anymore. They probably have as many studios as Sony and Nintendo combined. How much more does this company need ?
Geez man wtf!?! This article is the nodding dog at MS's crotch, it's worse than half of the fanboys on this site!
I guess you've gotta earn those review copies somehow now MS is choosing who is and isn't allowed to review games... and with MS buying the multiplatform market you'll get more grovelling fluff pieces like this.
Please, no more acquisitions. This coming from an Xbox fan. Let MS prove that they can properly manage the studios they have.
Today Paradox Interactive announced that it's parting ways with its subsidiary studio Harebrained Schemes effective January 1, 2024.
I mean it wasn't that intelligent to begin with, release it exclusive to the system that doesn't buy games. Plus it was on gamepass if I'm not mistaken. It's been a minute since I had mine on cause I just wrapped up chrono cross on ps5 but remember looking forward to checking this out on the Xbox. Try it on xbox if I liked it I would've bought on ps

Currently playing this. Currently loving this.
What I'm most excited about is all of the fan-made missions. One group is making a 100+ hour campaign that ports all of the official Shadowrun campaigns from the PnP 2050s setting. Another group is completely remaking the original SNES storyline. And those are just "remakes". There will also be who-knows-how-many fan-written stories.
Dude, I totally love what you said in so many different ways that's not even possible to describe. I personally found myself just really loving the engaging Shadowrun Returns campaign, even though it wasn't better than the one on the Super Nintendo, it definitely killed most of the triple A titles that have came out in the past, and let's face it, we know which ones. But truly the remarkable thing is how they were able to implemented a way to make different campaigns into one. Also, I'm super hyped up for that 100+ hour campaign, and really just waiting until I can get back into this game, have fun with my character.
