Volition: Saints Row 4 exactly the same after THQ collapse

Nothing had to be altered in Saints Row 4 following the collapse of former publisher THQ and the brand's acquisition by Deep Silver.

So just as tasteless and classless as before?

showtimefolks3925d ago

100%

Sr3 was not a very good game and SR4 will be following, i am still waiting for a proper sequel to Sr2

Sr2 was the highest point for Sr2 series for me personally

TheGrimOfDeath3925d ago

Ah so good both of you have opinions to the game, great.

I personally loved SR3 and SR2 equally. And I seem to be going in the same direction for SR4.

Murad3925d ago

I personally despised SR3. It was far below SR 2 in every way. It wasn't even about gangs, what's worse if you think about what Benajmin King would say about the Saints, it would come out as: "I lost my gang to a bunch of wannabe gangsters". That's literally what he would say.

MadLad3925d ago

I liked Saints Row 3.
A lot.

Sorry?

annus3925d ago

And look how that's working out for them, onto their fourth game. It's obviously not working out and nobody likes their games at all...

NarooN3925d ago

Ah, the ol' sales card.

Sales =/= quality. Call of Duty is perhaps the best-selling game year in, year out, and it's generally a terrible game each year.

Obviously it's just our opinions, but I agree that the direction they took with 3, and where they went with 4, is just a joke and in no way a true sequel to SR2 at all.

annus3925d ago

Hate CoD as much as you want, but you know why people buy it? It's not because they hate it.

I'm not stating that CoD is good, but your must have a mental problem if you deny that people don't enjoy it.

Your sales argument would work if you were talking about a pre-packaged game like wii sports, but people actually go out and buy CoD.

aliengmr3924d ago

@annus

SR3 sold pretty well and SR4 hasn't been released yet, so your argument is invalid anyway.

bluetoto3924d ago (Edited 3924d ago )

@aliengmr

SR3 sold as well as it did off of the back of SR2 and the fans who loved it. Many SR2 fans bought SR3 without hesitation thinking it was going to be a better version than SR2.

It wasn't to many, so let's stop acting like SR3 sold as much as it did because of it being a great game all on its on.

It's clear they don't give two swats about that fanbase anymore but let us see how SR4 does without the support of many SR2 fans before we start talking validation...

annus3924d ago

@aliengmr

It was sarcasm. Nobody would be stupid enough to make four games if they sell badly.

I'm all for SR4. I love the route they are taking with just making everything fun and do things that have never been done, instead of trying to one up GTA.

Volition's Saints Row 4 PC upgrade was meant to be a make-good, but it broke the game instead

Remember this year's Saints Row(opens in new tab)? Volition would probably prefer that you didn't, which might go some way to explaining why the studio recently decided to upgrade everyone's copy of Saints Row 4(opens in new tab) to its full-fat Re-elected Edition, containing all the game's story and cosmetic DLC and even introducing cross-play between Steam, Epic, and GOG versions of the game.

Unfortunately, that upgrade seems to have backfired, and players now report a myriad of bugs with their new version of SR4. Both the Saints Row Steam forums(opens in new tab) and subreddit(opens in new tab) are filled with players complaining of broken saves, crashes, and mods failing to function. It's also received a few hundred negative Steam reviews(opens in new tab) since the update. If it's succeeded in washing the taste of Saints Row (2022) out of players' mouths, it's only because it tastes even worse.

I wonder if Volition's getting reorged under Gearbox impacted the quality of their release.

jeromeface493d ago

i can't help but laugh at this comment. Gearbox can't even run themselves.
