good old rifle butting your enemy

loulou3919d ago

ofcourse they are. they are just reskinning bf4.

imo in the interest of balance, the should make all guns per class with the same power, just use different skins, and different colour lasers.

same with the vehicles.

dices weapon tinkering was not really welcome, and you can still find weapons that are overpowered

This means Star Wars Battlefront - November 2014

Larry L3919d ago

I would expect a little later, like Spring '15, since I'd assume it's such a huge game content wise. But they seem to be putting BF4 together very quickly, and they seem to be talking as though they are already planning for a second SWBF, so maybe you're right.

Either way, we'll have gameplay by next E3 for sure.

modesign3919d ago

pre trailer will be nov 2014, trailer will be may 2015, first gameplay preview at e3 2015, and release spring 2016.

3-4-53919d ago

This year we get BF4, Next we get SWBF in late 2014, 2015 we get a new BF game.

2016/2017 a new Star Wars BF game.

millgate13919d ago

I just really hope this doesn't turn out to be a Battlefield game with a Star Wars theme. I also hope they give us bots.

Larry L3919d ago

Ummmm.......did you, or any of the 5 people who agreed with you ever actually play SWBF1 & 2........or perhaps you never played Battlefield 2. But since you don't seem to know, BattleFront 1 and 2 IS just Battlefield with a Star Wars theme. If you liked them, why would you not want more of that?

Or is it that you're saying you didn't like BattleFront 1 and 2 because it was just Battlefield with a Star Wars theme?

H0RSE3919d ago (Edited 3919d ago )

You're out of your mind if you think that , Larry.

The gameplay in Battlefront and BF2 are completely different. From the overall pace of the game, to the weapon and shooting mechanics, there are vast differences.

Prime92443919d ago

@Larry L

You are seriously dumb... just.. dumb, for writing that.. lets see

Battlefield = Great first person shooter

Battlefront(until now) = Shitty graphics, shitty game mechanics, third person view, shitty fighting mechanics etc etc... bad maps, poor choose of players/characters etc etc. and so much more.

Panthers3919d ago

It better be a TPS and not a FPS. Dont ruin this game guys!

millgate13919d ago (Edited 3919d ago )

@Larry, yes I have played both Battlefront 1 and 2 AND Battlefield 2. I do realize that the gameplay in both games are similar (Battlefront is quite more chaotic however). When I say what I said I mean I want it to be a Battlefront game and not something that looks like it could be included as a DLC pack for BF4. Battlefront is much more chaotic, even on very large maps like Hoth, it was still very fast paced, I want that kept and many other small features but of course adding new innovative things.

@Panthers, it has been confirmed, just like in BF1 and 2, that you will be able to switch from both 1st and 3rd person perspectives. http://www.videogamer.com/x...

Larry L3918d ago

Well I certaily agree that SWBF is more chaotic than BF2, but that's because of the maps themselves, more so than the gameplay. Most of the maps were essentially just "lanes", so squads going from "flag" to "flag" would usually just meet head on, as opposed to BF which has well designed realistic village and city maps where squads can skulk about the map and be more tactical. This is down to the dev too. Pandemic were ambitious for sure, but their execution was off and seemed a bit lazy. This includes map design.

When you're playing SWBF in a squad of people working together, I find the gameplay and pacing very similar. Obviously I'm talking about playing Domination.

And to Horse who said weapons are totally different, I completely disagree. A rocket launcher is a rocket launcher, a sniper rifle is a sniper rifle, a grenade is a grenade, an assault rifle is an assault rifle, and a LMG is a LMG. Just putting a different skin on the gun model and making them fire red and blue laser bolts instead of bullets doesn't make them all that different really.

H0RSE3918d ago (Edited 3918d ago )

@Larry L

I wasn't talking about the skins or appearance of the weapons, I was talking about the way they handled, like recoil and spread, which s why I said "weapon and shooting mechanics." I was referring to both the weapon mechanics (recoil, ironsights, etc.) and the shooting mechanics (accuracy, bullet spread, etc.) They are clearly different from BF2.

...AND once again the gaming Gods have blessed us!

DICE making Star Wars Battlefront on the Frostbite 3 Engine. The only thing that could make that better is if every game came with a real life Lightsaber and a Hot Model to make you sandwiches while you game!

PurpHerbison3919d ago

I want more than sandwiches from a hot model...

yeahokchief3919d ago

@ Ati_elite

hot model WEARING a princess leia slave outfit ftfy

Blachek3919d ago (Edited 3919d ago )

Uh... If I knew that the game included a Hot Model, I would make sure I ate a good meal before she got back to my house.

I would also be sure to kill any and all AC in my home, to make the whole wearing clothes problem easier to solve.

yeahokchief3919d ago

Well i'd hope that they're well into developing that shit....

They said battlefield and battlefront will alternate years. So with BF4 coming out this year that means Battlefront will be a 2014 release.

That's not a whole lot of time.

MizTv3919d ago

I just hope it isn't as hard to fly like in bf3

titletownrelo3919d ago

cant wait to roll around as a droid.
LAZURR GUNS!!! - pew pew pew

solidt123919d ago (Edited 3919d ago )

I hope they show something at the Spike Video Game Awards this year. And a new Mass Effect.

yes..

too excited for this, I just feel like Dice of all the FPS studio guys are some of the best, and they fit the battlefront style so well.. (So I feel confident that they are doing an amazing job)

-And because of that, I can't wait to see what they did, I know it's going to be amazing..

.____........___...
.____||......||.......|___||
||.........___||............ ||

Larry L3919d ago

The match just makes sense. I mean aside from Jedi/Sith, BattleFront 1&2 are basically just Star Wars skinned Battlefield 2s, right? Sure, that's being droll and not giving the games the credit they deserve, but being overly simplistic, that's what it is.

So, what better developer to take the helm of the BattleFront series, I say?

Now it's time for wishlists for people to start making with unreachable expectations, so they can all be disappointed when the game comes out, and can then bash the game on internet message boards. And perhaps start a boycott because they are so upset.

I'll tell you one thing though, I doubt Dice is going to get CoD level sales numbers with BF4 that they are hoping for and probably deserve. But when they finally unleash a new Star Wars BattleFront upon a gaming public that has been salivating for one for like 10 years or more.........we may see a sales record that just shatters the title holder (whether it be CoD or GTA5). I'd bet close to 20 million or more.

Majin-vegeta3919d ago

I swear they better not dumb the gameplay down on this.Or they will never hear the end of it from me.

sAVAge_bEaST3919d ago (Edited 3919d ago )

It's DICE, it will be BF-2142 realized in the star wars universe.. -some may complain of a steep learning curve,. like all battlefield series.
One of the most anticipated games of next gen.. for me at least.

Conzul3919d ago

BF2142 is the best thing EA ever did. I'm still holding out for a 2143.

InTheZoneAC3919d ago

BF has a learning curve?

How does any respawn based run n gun FPS have a learning curve?

Battlefield is easily my favorite FPS, but FPS generally are easy to pick up and play, pretty much why every little kid and xbot plays FPS and nothing else.

sAVAge_bEaST3919d ago (Edited 3919d ago )

^^^^^

Conquest Capture points, there is a very specific order of capture,.. to insure success.

Vehicles,. Mastering the Tank, APC's, Jets, & copters,. takes a little time to become a beast while using.

Rush has different lanes to memorize, to either block or attack.

Blachek3919d ago

sAVAge_bEaSt
You are correct that there is a learning curve, but I would disagree with many of your points because they are strategy based.

From a control aspect, it's very standard... however when you implement vehicles you encounter some relatively complicated controls.

It's not hard to get a Jet into the air, or a Helicopter to hover... but it is difficult to dog fight another jet or to pilot the helicopter into a firefight between buildings and level it off for your gunners to have any effect.

The difficulty lies in mastery, every weapon has a different feel. Weapons require an additional learning experience when partnered with new or different attachments.

Vehicles can be powerful, but driven or piloted by a master and they can change the outcome of the battle and match.

Understanding kits requires patience and experience, knowing where to benefit your team most or the best instance to utilize different tools is essential in being successful at the game.

Majin Vegeta,
I agree with you, one of the most frustrating things a series can do is change the learning curve reducing the skills acquired by long time fans. Tribes 3 did that to me on PC years back after being a long-time player of both Tribes 1 & 2.

InTheZoneAC,
Battlefield has a moderate learning curve, but I agree that as a FPS it has a relatable control structure that is easy to pick up on because we've been exposed to the basics before.
I've got to ask, why the negative reference to Xbox owners? As if there aren't people playing FPS on a Playstation or "little kids" being introduced to the genre...

This thread is a celebration that Dice is working on a project with a good history and strong fan base... not a flame battle. Relax and enjoy on whatever console or pc you would like.

Aspyr if we sell hotcakes get that code from radical or something and create battlefield 3 please

Becuzisaid51d ago

I thought that was kind of obvious they were incorporating mods to piece this game together. Maybe not, but that's made me worried about one thing:

They also planned on adding the modded ending to KOTOR 2 but were legally blocked from doing so, even after they advertised that to help sell preorders for the game on Switch. Could the same happen with this? Any opponents have 3 weeks to bring down the hammer.

GoodGuy0951d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Wish these games would just get remakes.
