Assassin’s Creed 4 Side Missions: “You’ll Never Feel Like These Activities Are Superfluous”

One of the biggest criticisms against Assassin’s Creed III, if you don’t count the numerous bugs, boring campaign, disappointing ending and a humdrum protagonist, was the utter uselessness of the side missions in the long run. Fortunately, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag creative director Jean Guesdon has revealed that this won’t be the case for the next game.

I believe in this new AC and I think it's a superior game compared to AC3.

"“You’ll Never Feel Like These Activities Are Superfluous”"

"...Never..."

I'm going to hold you to this, Ubisoft.

This is my first AC game I am not buying. I stuck with them through Revelations with tower defence and I even bought the sequel but this is it. This game seems to just take the one good thing out of AC and make a game based around it. It should sound good but this isn't why I buy an AC game. I would much rather they just release boat conflict game. AC games have become tricks with no substance

After III I'm not sure if I can sit through another one of these games

I hope they get their sh*t together with this one, the last great AC game was Brotherhood . and that feels like a decade ago thanks to their milking habit.

Personally I was still a big fan after Revelations and excited for AC3 but it turned out to be such a disappointment. I couldn't even force myself to finish AC3 and have no plans to buy AC4. Such a shame.

Revelations was a decent game. I liked the grizzled old Ezio better than playboy Ezio. AC3 SUCKS! My favourite is still the first one because Altair is boss, the setting is the best in my opinion too. AC2 improved on the first game in a big way though I don't like Ezio as much as Altair. Connor can bite it though. Should have kept Haytham as the protagonist and made Connor the Templar.

I like Altair. I thought Ubisoft didn't do a good job with the game despite the hype it was receiving. Altair was -at least to me- the redeeming quality of the game. I thought the story was meh (again to me). Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. Part 2 is effing boss. I loved that game. I hated Ezio in the beginning, but I really liked him as I progressed through the game. I ended up liking him as my favorite assassin as I played Brotherhood and Revelations.
I agree with you on Conner. He just sucked.

I wish Ubisoft didn't milk this series. I really thought there would be some end. It looks like it's going to be forever revolving door of assassins spanning different timelines.

The first AC that player can ride a huge boat with crews inside...

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.
