Alien invasion?

Edit:
But a meteor hit.

Shadowsteal3926d ago

Why is this exclusive? The last game Ace Combat: Assault Horizon was multiplatform.

Abriael3926d ago (Edited 3926d ago )

Probably because it didn't sold enough on the 360 to warrant the effort? especially in Japan.

Or maybe it has some free to play elements that Namco Bandai loves lately, and that doesn't fit the 360 too well apparently.

Inception3926d ago

Maybe Namco owe an exclusive Ace Combat to Sony? You know, like Namco made AC6 exclusive to 360. Besides, i don't think it will hurt Namco to made this game exclusive for PS3, when the majority of Ace Combat fans are gamer who mostly own Playstation.

Shadowsteal3926d ago

@ I don't know why I got disagrees for asking a simple question. But thanks for the answers guys.

zoks3103926d ago

And to be honest the series have never been the same since it went multiplatform.
The series needs to go back to its PlayStation roots. To this day the ps2 is home of the best ace combat games, multiplat in my opinion hurt the series quality.
Even the xb360 ac exclusive was good, but I don't think the creators can handle more than one console at a time, and it shows.

millgate13926d ago

Or guys, just a wild guess here, maybe Sony paid Namco for it to be exclusive? Do you really think Namco would make the game exclusive to PS3 just because it wasn't selling as well on other platforms? Doubtful. Money is money.

Shadowsteal3926d ago

Yes. Why would they spend money to make a game that won't sell as well on a particular system? If you spend $100,000 to make a game to profit only $100 dollars is it worth it? You don't have to be a businessman to know this.

millgate13926d ago

The thing is, it's not that costly to port the game over to another platform. Also, there's a huge difference between €100 and over €1 million and I can't imagine the budget was too high (Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is not an AAA title). Remember, games sell for around €50. They only need to sell 20,000 copies to make €1 million. As of May 8, 2012, the game has sold 1.07 million copies worldwide. So around €50 million? I would imagine over 40% of those copies were sold on the Xbox.

izumo_lee3926d ago

Bamco is lately getting into the F2P model that started with Tekken Revolution. There are hints that this new AC will follow that same model since it is a PSN downloadable title.

Since XBlive is a little closed to these games & Sony is being more open to these kind of titles it is possible the PS3 was easier to get the game on it.

Never played Ace Combat Infinity online because it seemed as though I had to buy things like fuel, I could have been wrong about that, but decided not to get into the game. Always been a fan of Ace Combat since Ace Combat2, favorite being Ace Combat5 then 4 then zero. Drawing a blank right now on Ace Combat3.

Saw an article last week stating that Ace Combat4,5 and zero are being considered for remasters or remakes for the current generation. The article was more of a job listing, so it may take a while to come to fruition if ever. Here's hoping that it does happen.

Kokyu2208d ago

Never got into this tried but was turned off by the nonsense of MT involved with it. Cant wait for the new VR supported new game though.

Heart skipped a beat when I first read the headline. Initially thought it was talking about the latest AC in development (Skies Unknown).

You Can Now Win the Emblems that Leaked PS4 Exclusive Ace Combat 7 on Ace Combat Infinity

A few days before PlayStation Experience, DualShockers reported on a leak of the announcement of Ace Combat 7 at the event, thanks to eagle-eyed Japanese dataminers that found out information about a related challenge in Ace Combat Infinity. The leak proved accurate afterwards, and the rest is history.

Starting today, you can actually take part in that challenge, and win four emblems themed after Ace Combt 7, with an event running until January 19th in Ace Combat Infinity.

Ace combat is back sweet I use to killed this game back on ps2

Abnor_Mal3045d ago

Sounds like they are hoping to get some extra money from AC Infinity. They want people to start playing their free-to-play game so u can try earning emblems for a game that has no release date. More than likely you will have to spend money on fuel trying to earn those emblems, making Namco/Bandai extra coin. No thank you i will just wait for AC7 to release and be satisfied, I dont need any special emblems that Im not even going to notice as I fly.

Rumor: Ace Combat 7 Might Be Announced With a Trailer at PlayStation Experience

A while ago, Ace Combat Producer Kazutoki Kono mentioned in an interview that a current generation Ace Combat game was being considered, and we might finally see the results at PlayStation Experience.

Ace Combat in VR would be sick as hell.

Make it happen!

sinjonezp3062d ago

VR would be great but I would love to see an ace combat like the days of old. More like ace combat 5 the unsung war or similar to the free release infinity that came on PS3. With the power of the ps4 and the story driven ability of the older titles, we could see a true return to form ace combat. Add VR support and give us a great story and over the top action, im sold.

Ezz_Snake3062d ago

Yes, Ace Combat + VR + 2 Move Controllers
and you will become into the war

breakpad3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

Ace 7 great ..i hope to be grounded with real world jets (as the previous one) ...but with a lot less ridiculous plot (not again bad russian nationalists and other dumb fk holywood ideas)

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3063d ago

I would love that! Been waiting forever for a new "real" Ace Combat title.

meatnormous3063d ago

It better be a real ace combat! That Assault horizon was terrible!

Summons753063d ago

As long as there is a non-VR option on the game I completely agree.

Can't wait to see this reveal next weekend at PSX live myself if indeed true. Hopefully a playable demo will be there. One now my favorite Namco series.

I'd be surprised to see Ace go exclusive, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sony threw some weight behind the publishing and developing of it. Ace is one of the few games I thought would fit VR perfectly since it became big news.

Rookie_Monster3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

the last game, Ace Combat Infinity, was also exclusive to the PS3 so wouldn't surprise me one bit if this is PS4 exclusive.

Mikefizzled3063d ago

Bandai Namco made a few (Tekken Revolution, SoulCalibur Lost Sword and Ace Combat Infinity) F2P titles exclusive to PS3 because of Microsofts bizarre approach to F2P games. Also, F2P is a fairly lucrative business model in Japan, unlike Microsoft, so they didn't bother trying.

Bandai Namco is bringing One Piece to XONE. I doubt, without Sony intervening, that Ace will be PS4 exclusive.

NatureOfLogic_3063d ago

If It's at PSX it's most likely PS4 exclusive.

meatnormous3063d ago

Ace Combat 6 was exclusive to the 360. I just bought it used with the hopes of it being BC on the xbone someday.

Spotie3062d ago

Haven't quite a few games in the series been exclusive before?

Why would you be surprised?

Particularly with the PS4 doing as well as it is, I don't see why any mutiplat game going exclusive would be a surprise right now.
