GOS: "One of the many features of the DualShock 4 is a clickable touchpad that rests on top of the controller. It offers a new way for gamers to interact with PS4 games, but we don’t know how many next generation titles will use this feature. All will be revealed soon enough, and here are four games we know of that will use the DualShock 4’s touchpad."
A remake of MediEvil 2 may be getting shadow dropped at the rumored PlayStation Showcase or State of Play presentation in May, 2024.
What, I thought this was dead after Shawn Layden left Sony. I would definitely pick this up if it's true. I have such great memories of playing the MediEvil games on PS1 and I played the PS4 remake. Such a great and underrated series.
"The Vancouver-based (Canada) indie games developer Red Hook Studios are today very happy and excited to announce that their roguelike /strategy/RPG “Darkest Dungeon II”, is coming to Playstation consoles (PS5 and PS4) via PSN on July 15th, 2024." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
VGChartz's Evan Norris: "If you haven't played Rainbow Cotton before, you're not alone. A Dreamcast exclusive released only in Japan, it's not exactly a household name. Looking to change that, and bring the sixth-gen game back into the spotlight, is German studio KRITZELKRATZ 3000, which — with the backing of publisher ININ and original developer SUCCESS — has remade the 3D shoot-'em-up from the ground up. Featuring several modern quality-of-life upgrades, plus HD graphics and a brand new local co-op mode, it promises to merge the past and present when it launches digitally on consoles and PC on May 9.
Ahead of the game's release, I chatted with Andreas Scholl, technical director at KRITZELKRATZ 3000 and lead programmer for Rainbow Cotton, about what fans can expect from the remake."
Battlefield 4 weapon menus... Fifa formation... invertory menus... sandbox maps including pinch zoom, patterns shortcuts for inventory items/magics...
It is not a stupid gimmick, is going to be awesome.
"It offers a new way for gamers to interact with PS4 games.." A touchpad in the middle of your controller? GTFO with the gimmicks $ony! *kidding* mkotechno got my agree 1rst!
Looking forward to how the touchpad will benefit gaming; same thing with the Kinect 2.0.
I really liked how they were controlling the OWL using the track pad and the fact that the pad can function as an additional button. The only gimmick that I see in the controller is the light bar.

I've been confused from the beginning when everyone starting saying how it's just a gimmick. Maybe because I was already envisioning tons of ideas of what it could be used for in-game. At the very least, it adds a couple more buttons to the layout. The simplest being 1 - the clickable button, 2 - swipe up, 3 - swipe down, 4 - swipe left, 5 - swipe right. So, 5 extra buttons for the most basic usage in-game, without devs thinking indepth at all.
I love the addition of the touchpad personally. The devs also don't seem to view at as a silly gimmick, they're already thinking up deeper ways to utilize it, to immerse you into the game more.
