Bioshock Infinite vs. The Last Of Us Showdown

Choosing between The Last Of Us and Bioshock Infinite is like choosing between pizza and pizza. In other words, you can’t get more delicious. Both games are already forerunners in the Game Of The Year award for 2013, excluding Septembers GTA V which is going to big. Very big. But let’s ignore that at the moment.

i know Bioshock Infinite have it fans too who love it as much as TLOU

At the start of the year I was looking forward to Bioshock Infinite alot more than TLOU

As much as I loved BI which is in my top ten of the gen, TLOU has become my second favourite game of the generation just behind Mass Effect 2

I was not expecting to like it so much as I have always thought that Uncharted 2 was a little overrated (I hated the platforming and I thought it lacked immersion at times) and this got similiar scores so I went in a little pessimistic

Boy was I wrong this game is sooo good and lengthy too (took me 17/18 hours to complete), I actually got a HL2 vibe from because the sense of adventure you get from it

It is close but TLOU is the winner for me

Both are fantastic but The Last of Us is simply the best game of this generation. BioShock: Infinite is probably the best FPS of this generation, however.

The thing that's sad to me it not many people have played Metro Last Light and I've played BSI and MLL >BSI. I've recently finished TLOU and that overshadows Them both in my opinion.

Well my comment make sens as much as your poors replies and i remembered having mentioned twice it was only my opinion while you only reply something along " you don't know what a good game is or you must have poor taste" You are the one who lack the capacity to argue properly, you don't even know what game i'm playing so how can you judge. A least i was backing my opinion with reasons i judge reasonable while you only rely on what others thinks to base your own opinions. Sorry if i'm not a sheep like the majority.

I think those games don't entertain me long enough to spend 60$ on them. I did said they were good game, they just don't stand as equal if you compare them to big AAA productions like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, AC, Far Cry and so on.

Enemy since you didn't follow our exchange from the begining, i was only using that kind of argument to show him how irrevelant his own argumention was. You can't just say to someone he don't know what a good game his or how bad his taste are when you don't know shit about it. As a matter of fact you just underline what i was trying to demonstrate him. Also, i donno but after beating these game twice, they indeed don't have alot of replayability unless you like repeating/listenning to the same story over and over again, it's not my case.

I never bring the linear argument in this, but since you mention it, sport games, figthing games, strategy games can also provide 100hrs of entertainment. Oh and imao in the cutscene/stealh action style both MGS and RE provide more durability than UC and TLOU.

Finally, for the whole navigation argument, i still think that the like of MGS/splinter cell/GoW/Mass Effect/AC got a much more flexible and superior gameplay but hey most people on the internet think i'm wrong so that must be true.

games like TLOU offer tons of replay value with new skins and mods and the gameplay it self is a replay value ....because the enemy AI act different every time and the game give you tons of freedom and option in your gameplay

first off uncharted share nothing with TLOU and i don't know why you keep putting those game in the same line
as you think they share the same gameplay which once again show you didn't play TLOU or both for that matter
TLOU make you think before you even make a move
not run and gun like the rest of TPS games

yes it must be true because non of what you say is true
those games don't offer better gameplay than TLOU at all it's the other way around in fact and everyone on the internet think that too because it's what they feel about this game....but feel free to think other wise

I love the aesthetic and art direction in Bioshock though, the atmosphere in game it's really awesome. Unfortunately the gameplay is repetitive and bland on the middle of the game.

It is a flameboyant topic for an obvious reason: Inifnite is available to all gamers (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) while TLoU is a PS3 exclusive. Yeah they can praise it all they want and it might be a great game but the fact remains - Bioshock was played by far more people than TLoU because it was multyplatform. It is difficult to pit and exclusive against a successful multyplatformer and expect people not to over react.

The gameplay is lacking in BI, you can tell they wanted to pack so many gameplay elements into the game that they showed at e3 but I guess they didnt have to time to get in the game. I think the game part of BI was not GOTY material, the art, story, characters are though. Whereas I think Last of us is a complete package with everything pulling in the same direction.
You can say that BI is more original but that doesnt make too much sense considering the story even tells you the template is basically Bioshock 1, "there's always a city...." Whereas an emotional character based apocolypse game has been promised but never realised, just look at the reaction that came from the Dead Island trailer, that's what last of us delivered.

to me, Bioshock Infinite has a complex and interesting story but a very weak story telling.

while TLOU's story is more simple, it is also more efficient as it focuses on the characters relationship and i felt a deeper connection between myself and them. i also knew what was going on at all times in TLOU.

in Bioshock Infinite, i was completely lost at some points in the game. way too much information was shoved down my troat in the last 30 minutes. the ending had no impact on me as i didnt fully understand it. i had to go to youtube and forums to understand the whole thing. thats weak story telling IMO. not bashing the game though. i still loved it, but it was overrated. many things that should have been there, werent there. ultimately, the 1st Bioshock remains the best in the series for me.

The last of us is clearly the winner. storywise, graphicswise, setting, gameplay mechanics and more. This is my personal opinion and is also the same opinion of millions of gamers out there. Let's be clear that I did not say bioshock infinite is not a good or great game. Its an excellent game, worthy of being a contender for game of the year.

Both games are amazing.

My personnal preference of the 2 is The Last of Us, which I actually consider GOTG.

But Infinite is also awesome and everyone should enjoy it.

So Last of Us for me ;)

I would hope last of us would win, I think it should because its new and fresh it's not a continued IP. But in saying that bioshock was amazing as well even though I still prefer the original.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a 3 way tie between gta/bioshock and TLOU

If one looks just at the gameplay elements I think TLOU has a more depth and variety then BI that is mostly a run & gun game.

Other then that I also think TLOU is a deeper and in lack of a better word a more "adult" game.

But in the end I had a great time in both of them, but I think comparing them is wrong. I would rather have compared TLOU against the new Tomb Raider game. The more "adult" theme and the variety in gameplay is closer to TLOU then BI.

I prefer TLOU over BI but I'd say Bioshock would probably win this in a poll given the fact that it's a multi-platform title.

bioshock's story is more creative than TLOU because i think TLOU story is a cliche and thought of before. so its a tie to me. i still havent made up my mind about who deserves GOTY.

I liked the first Bioshock better then Infinite. I like Last of Us better then Bioshock Infinite. I still loved all Bioshock games though. ^~^

I find these games to be very similar with each other:
-Both let you play as an American male adult with the same voice actor (Troy Baker)
-Both ordered to protect a younger girl even though during gameplay they are practically invisible to the enemy
-Both set you out on a long time-moving journey to both escape from certain places and to get the girl somewhere.
-Both force you to get attacked by hundreds of human enemies
-Both have annoying and broken stealth mechanics
-Both have you rescue the girl in similar fashion near the end
-At the end both practically take you back near to a place you first started the game.

The only differences i see with these two games is that one has a climatic ending (BS:I) and one doesn't (TLOU).

I'm seeing some people talk about GOTY and some about GOTG, which are two very different things. I haven't played Bioshock Inifinite or The Last Of Us but from what I hear they are both good candidates for GOTY. However, GOTG, to me, are games that define what the generation is - and those usually aren't the ones that come at the end of the generation. For my money, Bioshock (the original) would have to be the GOTG.
