Bioshock Infinite vs. The Last Of Us Showdown

Total Revue:

Choosing between The Last Of Us and Bioshock Infinite is like choosing between pizza and pizza. In other words, you can’t get more delicious. Both games are already forerunners in the Game Of The Year award for 2013, excluding Septembers GTA V which is going to big. Very big. But let’s ignore that at the moment.

SPOILERS AHEAD..

here we go again
even though TLOU is my GOTG and i know that will never change
i know Bioshock Infinite have it fans too who love it as much as TLOU

let's be glad that we can enjoy both
and be done with this "Vs." thing

but i got to say this
that's very nice article and bring alot of good points

gillri3929d ago (Edited 3929d ago )

At the start of the year I was looking forward to Bioshock Infinite alot more than TLOU

As much as I loved BI which is in my top ten of the gen, TLOU has become my second favourite game of the generation just behind Mass Effect 2

I was not expecting to like it so much as I have always thought that Uncharted 2 was a little overrated (I hated the platforming and I thought it lacked immersion at times) and this got similiar scores so I went in a little pessimistic

Boy was I wrong this game is sooo good and lengthy too (took me 17/18 hours to complete), I actually got a HL2 vibe from because the sense of adventure you get from it

It is close but TLOU is the winner for me

Enemy3929d ago

Both are fantastic but The Last of Us is simply the best game of this generation. BioShock: Infinite is probably the best FPS of this generation, however.

Agheil3929d ago

The thing that's sad to me it not many people have played Metro Last Light and I've played BSI and MLL >BSI. I've recently finished TLOU and that overshadows Them both in my opinion.

Keregan3929d ago

The fact that TLOU is your GOTY prove that you have really no idea what a great game is made of and you are really lacking in the critisim department since you mostly repeat what everyone else around you said.

See, you made that kind of reply to me in another post, do you feel it's revelant whatsoever. You should try to learn the basis of arguing before telling someone is wrong because he does not think like you.

Ezz20133929d ago (Edited 3929d ago )

ahh, trying to look smart
sorry , didn't work

the thing is your comment in that other topic like many told you
didn't make sense what so ever and was also wrong
and also you tried to pass your opinion as a "fact"
like i told you ...you want ppl to take you srsly start make sense with your comments

Enemy3929d ago

I do think it's funny, Keregan, that you say this:

"You should try to learn the basis of arguing before telling someone is wrong because he does not think like you."

After saying this:

"The fact that TLOU is your GOTY prove that you have really no idea what a great game is"

Funny how I use your own argument to prove you have no idea what you're saying. The Last of Us is his GOTY, so why are you judging, when you clearly don't even know how to form a post that makes sense?

Time for that nap now, no? Better yet, stop posting unless you're here to make us laugh.

Keregan3929d ago

Well my comment make sens as much as your poors replies and i remembered having mentioned twice it was only my opinion while you only reply something along " you don't know what a good game is or you must have poor taste" You are the one who lack the capacity to argue properly, you don't even know what game i'm playing so how can you judge. A least i was backing my opinion with reasons i judge reasonable while you only rely on what others thinks to base your own opinions. Sorry if i'm not a sheep like the majority.

I think those games don't entertain me long enough to spend 60$ on them. I did said they were good game, they just don't stand as equal if you compare them to big AAA productions like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, AC, Far Cry and so on.

Enemy since you didn't follow our exchange from the begining, i was only using that kind of argument to show him how irrevelant his own argumention was. You can't just say to someone he don't know what a good game his or how bad his taste are when you don't know shit about it. As a matter of fact you just underline what i was trying to demonstrate him. But i guess this is what the internet is all about, average commoners who simply follows what they are told and that don't bothers to explain their toughts.

Ezz20133928d ago (Edited 3928d ago )

"""Well my comment make sens as much as your poors replies """

no not at all ....nothing made sense in your comments

""and i remembered having mentioned twice it was only my opinion while you only reply something along " you don't know what a good game is or you must have poor taste" """

no you never said that was your opinion
you said that those games are not good ...now you say they are good ?! WTF ?!

""You are the one who lack the capacity to argue properly, you don't even know what game i'm playing so how can you judge."""

don't care what games you are playing
the fact that you call a games like those "not good" do show you have a very bad taste in games like many told you

""" A least i was backing my opinion with reasons i judge reasonable while you only rely on what others thinks to base your own opinions. Sorry if i'm not a sheep like the majority."""

no you didn't have any good reasons that back you up other than "those games have silly gameplay and linear=bad and don't have replay value"
which non of that is true and just plain wrong
that's why no one take you srsly and didn't make sense at all with your comment
also no i don't really care what other think but
it does feel good to see most ppl/sites agree on Incredible quality games like TLOU ;)

"""I think those games don't entertain me long enough to spend 60$ on them. I did said they were good game, they just don't stand as equal if you compare them to big AAA productions like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, AC, Far Cry and so on. """

no you didn't say they are good
""Tlou, Uncharted and God of War aren't really good game,""
that was your comment , isn't it ?!
which also plain wrong

also you can say your opinion all you want
like i said you are one of those who think linear = bad while the rest know
it's really quality over quantity
which games like TLOU offer that and even more
and it's one of the longest SP games this gen with amazing Gameplay that offer tons of freedom and options and one of the best stories this gen

Keregan3928d ago

Ezz2013, well what i initially said is that they were fun but not good enough to spend 60$ on them.

Also, i donno but after beating these game twice, they indeed don't have alot of replayability unless you like repeating/listenning to the same story over and over again, it's not my case.

I never bring the linear argument in this, but since you mention it, sport games, figthing games, strategy games can also provide 100hrs of entertainment. Oh and imao in the cutscene/stealh action style both MGS and RE provide more durability than UC and TLOU.

Finally, for the whole navigation argument, i still think that the like of MGS/splinter cell/GoW/Mass Effect/AC got a much more flexible and superior gameplay but hey most people on the internet think i'm wrong so that must be true.

Ezz20133928d ago (Edited 3928d ago )

""Ezz2013, well what i initially said is that they were fun but not good enough to spend 60$ on them.""

In your opinion ofc

""Also, i donno but after beating these game twice, they indeed don't have alot of replayability unless you like repeating/listenning to the same story over and over again, it's not my case.""

again no
games like TLOU offer tons of replay value with new skins and mods and the gameplay it self is a replay value ....because the enemy AI act different every time and the game give you tons of freedom and option in your gameplay
i'm starting to wonder if you indeed played this game because so far what you say is flat out wrong

""I never bring the linear argument in this, but since you mention it, sport games, figthing games, strategy games can also provide 100hrs of entertainment. Oh and imao in the cutscene/stealh action style both MGS and RE provide more durability than UC and TLOU.""

first off uncharted share nothing with TLOU and i don't know why you keep putting those game in the same line
as you think they share the same gameplay which once again show you didn't play TLOU or both for that matter
TLOU make you think before you even make a move
not run and gun like the rest of TPS games
and for the rest of what you say i don't agree with it at all

""Finally, for the whole navigation argument, i still think that the like of MGS/splinter cell/GoW/Mass Effect/AC got a much more flexible and superior gameplay but hey most people on the internet think i'm wrong so that must be true. ""

yes it must be true because non of what you say is true
those games don't offer better gameplay than TLOU at all it's the other way around in fact and everyone on the internet think that too because it's what they feel about this game....but feel free to think other wise

Both game is a masterpiece. We shouldn't argue which one is better.

RioKing3929d ago

To me be they're both *Games of the year. GTAV will probably join.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney3929d ago (Edited 3929d ago )

The Last Of Us is >..

Bioshock looks good though visually.

Kanzes3929d ago

I love the aesthetic and art direction in Bioshock though, the atmosphere in game it's really awesome. Unfortunately the gameplay is repetitive and bland on the middle of the game.

EditorAtGNG3929d ago

It is a flameboyant topic for an obvious reason: Inifnite is available to all gamers (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) while TLoU is a PS3 exclusive. Yeah they can praise it all they want and it might be a great game but the fact remains - Bioshock was played by far more people than TLoU because it was multyplatform. It is difficult to pit and exclusive against a successful multyplatformer and expect people not to over react.

Catoplepas3929d ago

Not entirely sure where you're getting Bioshock was played by far more people.

The two titles have sold in similar numbers.

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast76d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs73d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast73d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs72d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast72d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer76d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing6976d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs73d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing6973d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.

The Last Of Us Online Devs Celebrate Their Experience With The Canceled Game

The team is sad for losing out on such a great project but celebrates its growth because of spending time on it.

Chocoburger120d ago

All they had to do was make a basic online mode like their previous games. Instead they wanted more money and choose to go live service which makes games worse in my opinion.

What a waste of time and money, what a shame.

seanpitt2376d ago

I can't wait for season 2 so they can kill Joel off in the first 2 episodes!! Then it will be just Abby and Ellies revenge plot!

Something is telling me that this won't happen though because it wouldn't make sense, oh wait

Linzoid120d ago

Not sure why they didn’t just make Factions 2. There was no need to make it a live service.

TLoU Factions was a great addition such a shame they couldn’t be bothered to remaster that for PS5 considering the crazy high price tag of the remaster of a remaster…

anast120d ago

This is something to be celebrated. This studio is smart and they get it, even factions 2 wouldn't've have been worth the time. I am surprised they didn't just remaster the first one though, but actually how popular was Factions?
