Next Super Street Fighter IV update (PS3, X360, PC, Arcade) to add 5 characters, 6 stages [Updated]

Update: Capcom's Yoshinori Ono revealed on Twitter one additional detail not mentioned at the EVO 2013 panel - the new update will come to arcades in Japan on top of the PS3, X360, and PC versions.

On top of five new characters, six new stages and balance changes to existing characters, Ono also tweeted that the new update will also add new mode(s) - although the word "mode" here might be a typo for "stages" since he did not mention the addition of new stages in the same tweet.

Original story: Elena, Rolento, Poison, Hugo, a fifth unannounced character, and six new stages will be added to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012 via a US$15 DLC update early next year, Capcom has just announced at a panel presentation at the EVO 2013 fighting game championships in Las Vegas today.

The new updated version, which will be released for the PS3, X360 and PC versions of the fighter, and whose official name will only be announced tomorrow through a trailer right before the EVO 2013 grand finals for SSF4, is said to be compatible both with Super Street Fighter IV as well as SSF4 Arcade E...

I hope they'll announce it at Gamescom for Next-Gen consoles

wishingW3L3930d ago

Ono said he wants to make a new Street Fighter Alpha game. Probably for next-gen consoles....

Simon_Brezhnev3930d ago

Only SF series i liked was Alpha. I just hope if he does he doesnt make them look nothing like SF4 characters. Ryu looked way better in UMvC3 than SF4.

Knushwood Butt3930d ago

I'd be up for a new Alpha game.

mattdillahunty3930d ago

people asking for Street Fighter V must not be very familiar with how Capcom handles the Street Fighter series. i wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see SFV for another five years or more.

not only is SFIV still an amazing (and balanced) game that is still receiving updates, but like wishingW3L said, there's a good chance there will also be an Alpha game as well.

I'd hold off on buying SF Alpha until they come out with the super mega ultimate karate bruised edition hyper arcade version.

Knushwood Butt3928d ago

Actually, I'm STILL waiting for Capcom to release SF Alpha (PS1 Classic) on the Japanese PSN.

That, and Silent Hill.

Where are they???

exactly. Increasing the animation rate doesn't count as a new game.

street fighter 4 super saiyan edition confirmed? lol

Baka-akaB3930d ago (Edited 3930d ago )

In before moaning and complaints about a new version/dlc actually requested by the sf community , with their characters balance input and suggestion even considered and encouraged .

I don't think this is news that people will bash Capcom over. You can't say there hasn't been countless reasons to get pissed at Capcom about if you were a fan of theirs before this gen. SSF4 itself was one of their few good decisions this gen imo. Even SSF4's costumes were a ripoff, but SSF4 itself was great and great value.

To do this update as a DLC instead of yet another disc version is a good decision for various reasons. And 5 characters, 6 stages and other additions is a really good value for $15. Unlike all of Capcom's other DLC which has been some of the worst value for dollar DLC this gen. This will be the first Capcom DLC I've bought since the SF4 complete alt pack went on sale for $6.50 on PSN like 3 years ago.

I'm actually shocked they aren't trying to get $30 or more to be honest. Maybe they're turning over a new leaf on their DLC pricing structure. LOL........yeah, right.

Baka-akaB3929d ago (Edited 3929d ago )

Except they aready did earlier around here . ANd btw there is a full retail and digital version at 40$ . At least it will apparently give access to all previous dlc costumes

Larry L3929d ago

Yeah......I'll believe that when I see it. Meaning all the alternates included on this disc version you mention. I just don't see them doing it. If you remember their debut trailer of the original Super months before it even came out was just alternate costumes as though they were going to be right on the disc (well, they were really, but I mean free to use after maybe unlocking in-game).

If it's true and all the previous alts are in the game, I'd possibly consider the disc version even though I already owned the disc, and traded it in towards a new game when I got Super for free from Plus. I could use the HDD space anyway and the downloadable version doesn't seem to load as fast as the disc version. Perhaps I'll buy it again, we'll see.

Baka-akaB3929d ago

It's not something to believe it's confirmed , there will be a full version at around 40$ in retail and digital versions and at least one of those will feature all the costume alt . Then you got preorders with exclusive costumes designed by Udon studios .

Foxgod3930d ago

´Sounds good, the more the merrier, and hopefully the last character will be a fitting one.

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante3930d ago

The last character will likely be Asura considering they had SF DLC in Asura's Wrath and already have the splash art made.

Foxgod3930d ago (Edited 3930d ago )

Yeah, seen others mention it too, i hope its not true.

It would kind of ruin the story.
Final fight characters are logical, as its set in the same time and universe as street fighter.

But asura isnt from the same time, and not from the same universe either.
Asure would fit in a VS fighting game, but not in Street fighter.

mattdillahunty3930d ago

even if Asura could fit within the game, i think he would be a boring addition because he's too much like Akuma/Evil Ryu/Oni in that he's some sort of ascended powerful badass. i'm sure they would give him a really unique moveset to make up for it, though. and to be honest, i think that's the most likely choice so far.

i actually think Goutetsu would be an awesome addition. he's Akuma and Gouken's master, and not a lot is known about him. Akuma did kill him in the lore, but that doesn't really matter since Akuma also killed Gouken in the lore and they made up some silly excuse for how Gouken survived it. i don't think it's likely at all that we'll ever see him in a Street Fighter game, though.

Baka-akaB3930d ago

I dont see it ruining the story .. it already is ruined with stuff like Oni and evil ryu that only fit in alternate timelines and "what if" scenarios .

I wish to see Gotetsu one day , but quite frankly , there are enough shoto already for now , people already complain enough about them , despite most of them being completely different from each others

London’s Latest Arcade : VEGA London

HelenBaby writes : "It’s always a cause for celebration when a new arcade opens, so we are pleased to announce that, as of last Monday (September 21st) London has its latest gaming venue! Joining the prestigious ranks of Namco Funscape, Las Vegas Soho and The Four Quarters ; VEGA London (as it is known) is located in the basement of a building known from the outside as VEGAS. It represents the building’s video game arcade section (the ground level floor is populated with gambling machines, in a similar setup to the Las Vegas arcade in Soho). VEGA London is a miniature arcade, yes, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for with in-demand arcade titles. Combine this with being situated in one of the most achingly cool neighborhoods in Central London (Angel, Islington) and you begin to appreciate what a formidable little pocket rocket this awesome little venue is".
