Last week a rumour emerged that UK retailer ASDA (part of the Walmart group) would be dropping Nintendo's consoles from its shelves and the games would be going along with them.
Well, it turns out it's true. Sort of.
A shame but since sales are worse in the UK then they are in the US, this is long overdue.
I'm assuming the Vita got a similar treatment?
Ha, Vita got this a long time ago. Since last year the PS Vita has barely existed in retail. Games are bundled in with old PSP games, sometimes hidden behind them. Then here in Germany the Vita isn't being promoted nearly enough, either. I went to my 9 different places last week to find a PS Vita memory card, not a single place had them in stock and couldn't tell me when they would. At least the Wii U is still being acknowledged at retail.
The vita was a waste of potential, but the wiiU is just at waste....unless you like anything Nintendo than sure.
Won't be long until we see the vita in Poundland... on offer, 2 for 1!

There's no console that's a waste except stuff like the Jaguar and N-gage, etc.
Wii U has a solid bunch of games, as do consoles like the Saturn or Turbo Grafx despite not selling well.
Im surprised that as a Vita owner you are so judgemental of the Wii U library. Both consoles are similar in the uniqueness of their software, and the lack of respect they get from consumers.

Its ashame this is happening as the wiiu is a great console. I do wonder what would of happened if they has not put Wii in the name. That said I'm happy with the IP's Nintendo are giving the wiiu and will continue to support it until the next console is released by Nintendo as so far their ips have lead the way so far this gen for me.

They're trying to muster up any sales they can so the deals just get better so it might be better to just wait. Just This weekend in Canada MS had Xbones for $50 off and also included $50 live money as well. So a $350 CDN = $278 U.S. + $50 live cash.
They are really trying hard to get xbones moving. Most people just want the PS4. Thats the way it is
You would be right. Even though the difference here is $100 as the PS4 is $450 whereas the Xbone is $350 w/o Kinect and $450 w/ Kinect it still gets destroyed in sales. I had a pallet full of PS4's and they are half empty now whereas we've barely sold Xbone's.
Lot of people hate x box 1 and Microsoft they think x box 1 is crap for there own reasons disagrees are not a surprise on here, but most of the haters probably only game on 1 platform anyhow.
I have a High end PC and x box 1 and i have played games on the PS4, two of my friends have it so i feel i can comment on it.
I talk about the PS4 when i need to but i don't spend my time talking about the console everyday you don't find me on PS4 threads that often they are in here everyday the otherside.

Kinda wish i had waited longer to buy the X1, i have only ever had two games for my X1 since last October(FH2 & HMCC) and one of them came free with it, nothing has appealed to me to buy another Xbox game.
Only thing i am looking forward to is Quantum Break, just hope that does not get delayed.

I don't get it. Why is every business that offers a temporary deal on the Wii U such big news?
Every time a retailer offers a special deal on a console, it's reported here. It's the same for the VIta, Ps3, 360, 3DS, and will be the same for the PS4 and Next Xbox.
There is no hidden message the author of this story is trying to say about the system, it's purely meant to inform European gamers of a chance to save money.
Consumers want to know where they can get savings so it's the media's chance to report it.
It doesn't come off as their just trying to inform people of deals though. It comes off as if they are trying to propose or infer "something" from this news. Something not quite positive.

Stop being so paranoid. This news doesn't have anything to do with people bashing the Wii U. It merely is an informative post that let's potential buyers if the Wii U know that they can get a good deal on the system.
If it wasn't for an article on Amazon's vita prices (which I bought at launch) I wouldn't have gotten one with an 8GB stick at 220 euros.
Jesus its like some people don't want stores to make good deals to help move Wii U consoles because they see it as negative news.

The Wii-U really has to cut the price to be competitive with the new PS4 and xbone. The Wii-U is a pretty neat idea but for some reason it's just not selling well. The younger and casual gamers may be able to pick up the Wii-U if the price is right.
Plus my 10% discount if I decide to get one :D
Amazon UK has matched those prices too - £199 for pro and £149 for basic. Weather this is for competitive reasons or because the price cut is official, I don't know.
But I gotta say, the Wii U is a steal at that price. Even if you just use it to play Nintendo games and have PS4/X1/PC as your main device, at less than 150 go buy it for the exclusives you know are coming.

I am seriously thinking of getting a WiiU just for the Box it came in!
