LOVEFiLM recently revealed that it will be stopping the games rental part of it's service to focus on "providing world-class film and TV subscription services." The news came as a huge disappointment to existing customers, including myself, having been a customer for many years purely for it's game rental service.
As a gamer, the times are a-changing. This particularly seems to be the case if you like to rent your games. What does this mean for the landscape of gaming, though?
It makes you wonder, was this plan in the works at Amazon (who now own Lovefilm) because of Microsoft’s policies? If that was the case though, would they not have cancelled those plans once Microsoft changed their plans? It seems unlikely that this is the cause. Though if that isn’t linked, then why make this decision now?
With LoveFilm stopping videogame rentals, Gamebrit has complied a short list of alternative rental services in the UK.
I cant believe Amazon are doing this. They're going to loose quite a few customers.
I recently cancelled my subscription to the LoveFilm service. It was clearly a good choice on my part as they're hastily removing the service, wonder what they'll do with all those games?

What is going on as lovefilm should tell staff this as already cancelled our subscription clearly telling them it was because of them stopping games. R they reconsidering this now or trying to keep people on for as long as possible before they dump games.
Does anybody know why they're discontinuing the games rental aspect of their service? I've never been a customer but from what I've heard it's a very good service.
I, and a few others will be leaving soon. Blockbusters will be my next stop.
Although I'm not renting so many games at the mo, I do like to from time to time. Some games just aren't worth buying but are worth playing.
I really dont stream too much stuff so wont miss that.
My wife and I started a free trial of Lovefilm and then the next week we hear the news about games.
Got a couple of Blu rays sent through post which is a good service. Streaming content isn't that hot unless you like 50's B movies or straight to DVD stuff.
The games part was its one redeeming feature.
We won't be keeping it beyond the trial. Netflix free trial next :)

The online streaming movies don't get much updating either. The PS3 Lovefilm software is ok but it's poor on the iPad.
