Ni no Kuni is a really hidden Gem that deserves more recognition. This year has been a pretty good year for gamers.

Ezz20133937d ago

since i can't say TLOU and i hate BI

then it's Ni No Kuni for me too
also i would add Animal Crossing/Tomb Raider/Far cry 3

BiggCMan3936d ago

Far Cry 3 was last year actually. Unfortunately it's one of those games that comes out at the tail end of the year, and is never considered for awards and such for that year, or the following year since it didn't come out then.

Serg3936d ago

Awards usually have a deadline, games that come out after this deadline will be considered for next year. Far Cry 3 will be on the list for this year.

brodychet3936d ago

I've played them all, and now it isn't an extremely large margin between the games (referring to their quality overall)

The Last of Us is the best of them. In my opinion.

I'm worried GTA5 won't be good enough to stand up to what I experienced in TLOU, and that's all I was looking forward to.

Eyeco3936d ago (Edited 3936d ago )

What didn't you like about Bioshock Infinite ? I've yet to play it because I've been taking it really slow with game purchases recently, money being tight and all, the game looks and sounds amazing.

Campy da Camper3936d ago (Edited 3936d ago )

Have to agree on bishock. Great atmosphere and level design but the combat just fell flat. Just enter room, enemies attack. Use machine gun and spam powers, rinse and repeat.

What it needed were those big mechanical guys as the standard enemies and more of the crow guys.

poppatron3935d ago

I wouldn't say I disliked Bioshock personally, I was just really really dissapointed with it. Was just a fairly standard fps with a better than average story. It's just unfortunate that the story only becomes good in the last hour or so, up until that point I just remember not really understanding what was going on. The gameplay itself was fairly mundane and forgettable. Not really worthy of the bioshock name, wich to me stands for a kind of sandbox style gameplay, I enjoyed leading big daddies down corridors rigged up with meticulously place traps.

The characters quite honestly don't stand anywhere near to those found in the last of us, where the characters are real and incredible by video game standards. I've never been moved by a game like I was through out tlou. Actually no, in honesty I didn't instantly like it, I didn't really like tess, but as soon as it was Joel and Ellie. Wow!

There's absolutely no comparison between Ellie and Elizabeth for me. Ellie was a believable engaging character. Elizabeth was a video game charcature, she served the story well enough. Ellie felt real, living and breathing. Like I said, I was completely moved!

Sly Cooper: Theives in Time needs way more recognition too. It's a great game and easily one of the best 3D platformers this gen

truthteller3936d ago

I agree though for me it isn't GOTY. We'll see what Sanzaru brings next.

majiebeast3936d ago

Sanzaru is already hiring people with PS3/Vita experience i want to see them take on Jak&Daxter remember Sly collection was a tease for Sly 4.

They could also very well take over the Ratchet and Clank franchise from Insomniac who treated their biggest creation as a red haired step child with A4O and that other game nobody remembers.

jammy_703936d ago

Tomb raider great reboot fantastic game

kneon3936d ago

The single player was good but the multi-player was awful.

TechnicianTed3936d ago

Who cares about MP when it comes to Tomb Raider? The SP was all that mattered and it was great.

BlindGuardian3936d ago

1 TLOU
2 BI
3 Ni No Kuni
4 Metro Lst Light
5 Tomb Raider

fenome3936d ago

Oh yeah, Metro! I need to play this game, sounds good, I keep forgetting to get this one!

PSjesus3936d ago

Ni no Kuni is my GOTY even though i luv TLOU and BI(original bioshock far more better).....NNK is unique game that we ll nott see any similar game like it in the near future

-Ikon-3936d ago

Ni no Kuni is not that great.. I wouldnt even rank it a top 5 level-5 game.. Studio G is what brought the hype to that game..

TR was ok but will never replay it again has zero replay value..

MGR is the 3rd best game I played this year.. one of the best action games this gen with tons of replay value

TheOneEyedHound3936d ago

As a fan of MGS, MGR was shit compare to the series and nowhere near Ni No Kuni IMO

Stallion3936d ago (Edited 3936d ago )

"Pretty good." Really man?
2013 is the best year in gaming for at least half a decade. Normally every year we get a bunch of good games and two or three incredible ones that really defined the year. This year we have a retarded amount year defining games.
Ni No Kuni
BioShock Infinite
Animal Crossing
Cube World
GTA V
Watch Dogs
This is going to be the most split year in GOTY winners EVER.

majiebeast3936d ago

I dpont think Watchdogs is gonna live up to the hype everytime they show it my hype goes down it just looks like AC in a modern setting.

TechnicianTed3936d ago (Edited 3936d ago )

Watchdogs doesn't look anything like AC. The only similarities are that it's 3rd person and it's made by Ubisoft, but the similarities end there.

:S

oakshin3936d ago

yes i havnt played a ton of games this year but NI NO KUNI was a gem u get my agree

fenome3936d ago

I pre-ordered Ni No Kuni and I agree, it is a hidden gem. Still haven't tried Tomb Raider or Bioshock: Infinite yet... About to get both, I wanna try Tomb Raider first though. I'm more intrigued by this title than I am Bioshock for some reason..

Y_51503936d ago

I only got 3 other games this year other than The Last of Us. Naruto Storm 3,God of War Ascension, and Luigi's Mansion dark moon. Hard choice since Last of Us easily topped all three of the runner ups.

ArchangelMike3936d ago

Yeah it would have to be Ni No Kuni for me (but in reality that's in third place after TLoU and BInfinite).

stonecold33936d ago

ni no kuni and beyond 2 souls looks like another goty contender for me?

No_Limit3936d ago

Of course it got to be GTAV if we are talking about the whole year, But as far as games that are out now, I would give that honor to State of Decay.

HammadTheBeast3936d ago

Bahahahahah.

Obviously you haven't played the Last of Us. But to each his own I guess.

State of Decay seemed kind of bland to me, like it was cashing in on what made DayZ and open world zombie games fun. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing in my opinion.

No_Limit3936d ago

Bahahahahah,
Actually I am playing both State of Decay and TLOU as we speak. Lucky me, I own all systems. I love Zombie games so much that I will also get Dead Rising 3 in November. HammadTheBeast and NeoTribe, U both mad? LMFAO.

NeoTribe3936d ago

Lol you must not own a ps3. Its ok, i forgive you.

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast73d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs70d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast70d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs69d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast69d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer73d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing6973d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs70d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing6970d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.

The Last Of Us Online Devs Celebrate Their Experience With The Canceled Game

The team is sad for losing out on such a great project but celebrates its growth because of spending time on it.

Chocoburger118d ago

All they had to do was make a basic online mode like their previous games. Instead they wanted more money and choose to go live service which makes games worse in my opinion.

What a waste of time and money, what a shame.

seanpitt2373d ago

I can't wait for season 2 so they can kill Joel off in the first 2 episodes!! Then it will be just Abby and Ellies revenge plot!

Something is telling me that this won't happen though because it wouldn't make sense, oh wait

Linzoid117d ago

Not sure why they didn’t just make Factions 2. There was no need to make it a live service.

TLoU Factions was a great addition such a shame they couldn’t be bothered to remaster that for PS5 considering the crazy high price tag of the remaster of a remaster…

anast117d ago

This is something to be celebrated. This studio is smart and they get it, even factions 2 wouldn't've have been worth the time. I am surprised they didn't just remaster the first one though, but actually how popular was Factions?
